Does he have status to get into regular tour events if he hasn't won it nor host it? I'm not implying it would be a big ask, but he may either need some sponsors exemption or a special big cat status
I think he would just have to ask and they would find a way. edit: Which now that I think about it... that is lobbying!
Florida usually punches later than now. I’m playing a private club on the island I’ve never been to so not idea what shape it’s in
If Tiger came here for the Valspar this place would go crazy. Jigga looks like I may down in the Boca area in May. I’ll hit you up when I’m down that way to see if we can play.
Guys spend 15 min talking about Scottie making a huge error and then he flushes the chip anyways. Unreal
This is so goddamn stupid. And they cut away from Lpga finish for news. At least I can watch Larry the cable guy chunk one in the water on the golf channel
What is the point of sending them out there in grossly different conditions with no prayer of finishing tonight?
If Scottie's wife goes into labor tonight and he has to leave in the middle of the night, this will be a monumental cluster for the Tour
went to the ACC Championship today. it was held at Charlotte country club and holy shit at this place
50 and raining all day. Us pleabs were held to the snack house and separate bathrooms not in the clubhouse. all it takes is 80k initiation fee and only $750/month to become a member.
That's 5k more in initiation and $110 less per month than good old Midland Country Club in Midland, Texas.
$750 a month ain’t bad. These initiation fees are insane even if you can recoup a portion of them in the event you leave the club. I guess the glory days of ClubCorp’s $300/month junior membership with no initiation fee are long gone.
I think those are older numbers. Pretty sure the major charlotte clubs are over 100k now. Plus CCC requires in home visits because they’re only taking the right kind of people. But if that’s what members told you today, then I’m clearly wrong
A lot of those clubs its not so much the dollar amount they are just very picky who gets to be members.
yeah that’s even one of the rumors you hear about Quail Hollow. The number depends on what the owner thinks of you
have several friends who are members across in the big 3 clubs in CLT- Charlotte CC, Quail, Myers Park Quail is obviously invite only, Charlotte and Myers are 2-5 years out on the waiting list and both are $125k buy-ins currently, no one is getting a discount Carolina Golf Club is probably the best bang for your buck if you can get an invite, $50k buy-in but its golf only, there's no pool/tennis etc.
Also, if I lived in CLT I'd join CGC solely on the fact they expect a 4some to play in 3:45 and they don't f around about it. Sounds like heaven to me.
Pandemic completely screwed up all fees in the area. 50k for Carolina golf club with no other amenities is ridiculous
Golf Club of TN is now over $100k for initiation with just golf, no tennis or pool. If you want access to the 2nd 18 they are building, you have to pay more, but not sure what that amount is. Rumor is that they let someone pay $300k to jump the waiting list so they offered that deal to everyone on the list and a few jumped on it. The big 3 Nashville CC (Belle Meade, Hillwood and Richland) are all at or over $100k for initiation too.
Got a couple friends who play at Richland, one of which is a fairly newish member. I forget what he paid for initiation, but for a decent period after he joined, he could only play certain times of the week. Guess it was a probationary type thing or something. Heard the Richland member guest is pretty wild.
Richland is the biggest party scene of the big 3 clubs, for sure. They do have an introductory period thing, and I've know guys who couldn't play golf at all for the first couple months after they join. Not sure if it was the member-member or member-guest, but a few years ago at the late night party, one of the members beat the shit out of the other one out front of the club when he went out for a smoke. I think the story is that one of them was drunk and making comments about other peoples wives, so he was told to shut up. The guy who told him to shut up went out for a smoke and the obnoxious guy followed him out sucker punched him and kept going until someone intervened.
Played at Palm Beach Country Club today. Hasn’t played in at least 5 months I think so no idea what to expect. Had 5 birdies, 8/9 pars, few others. I was pretty close to par if you take away the first 2 holes. I had 10 shots from 100-130 and was inside 8 feet on 9 of them. So overall a good day. Wife joined me and it was her 2nd round I could remember since our daughter was born 7 years ago. She actually played really well. Few pars. Couple chance at birdie and she wants to play a lot this summer with the kids so more golf which is awesome. She did also have the best moment of the day. She was roughly where the X is on the photo and the caddie gives her the club and says it’s a full swing. She does a full swing with her SW and gets all of it. I hear oh no and hear it hit the 2nd floor of the club house. The shades were down and it wasn’t open yet so she didn’t hit anyone but there was witnesses of what happened. Afterwards we go upstairs and go to lunch. On the host stand her ball is sitting there and they said we held on to it for you in case you wanted it back.
