Member we played with today told me a story that a member recently made a hole in one. She tried to give the caddie $50k. The club said you can’t do that so she instead gave everyone that works outside at the club $1,000 each and everyone inside $600 each

It's just if you're gonna ask the club/GM they've gotta say that otherwise they're gonna have all sorts of problems with literally every other employee who didn't get 50K for doing their job just as well that day. Many clubs pool their tips. Sometimes it's pool'ed within department to department and sometimes it's pool'ed as a whole among all the hourly workers.
In case it matters to you, Medinah #3 (the course hosting majors) isn’t open yet and when it does they won’t be allowing guests for a year. You will be playing either #1 (Doak) or #2 (shorter course primarily used by kids and women).

A 2 at your home track with no pressure ain’t the same as in a tournament setting on a place you’ve seen once. I was carrying a +3 (look at me!) and would play well in state am events and shoot like 73-74. Someone who is a 2 probably averages 76 on a course they know like the back of their hand. You toss them on a new course, sprinkle a little pressure on and I bet that 2 shoots 80 more often than 74.
We all know shooting scores with your boys on a weekend from 6300 yards is a lot different than a tournament setting, longer distances, faster greens, tougher pins and much more pressure. 2 cap means you shoot 74-75, 25% of the time you play. 2 caps are probably on average shooting high 70s or low 80s on any given day. These fringe pros are probably between +3 to +6 handicappers. Massive difference between a 2 cap and +4 cap and it will show in this type of golf setting.

We got our member guest flight info today for next weeks tournament. I’m in a tough flight and the second to lowest HCP in our flight so I won’t be getting any strokes. Hate that my club takes the lowest HCP of the year to use bc I’m not playing anywhere near that right now. Going to be fun though. Always a great event.
