i guess it's been twenty years but the movies were so well received and done so well that I'm surprised they're making this show.
I think Bezos was very passionate about getting it made. They spent a fucckkkkkkkk ton of money on the rights for something that has already had all of its major material made into films.
Please just be good. Lotr is one of my favorite series out there and I don’t want this to taint it like all of the new movies have done to Star Wars.
One of those captioned Elrond as "politically ambitious young elven leader" Interested to see how they take these well known characters
Second age, Numenor I think and some familiar elves like Elrond and Galadriel. Sauron is the big bad but should still be in human form
Isn’t this supposed to be the most expensive show ever? I thought it surpassed GOT, but that trailer didn’t look all that great to me. Maybe it’s just early cgi footage
Im not sure how this might effect any of that but it’s worth watching. https://www.google.com/amp/s/variet...it-tolkien-zaentz-rights-sale-1235176036/amp/
I don’t know why people think this will be anything other than incredible. Much more lord of the rings much less the hobbit
I can definitely see how it could be a letdown. Prime has a spotty track record and I worry about the writers being able to create a script to match the Lord of the Rings style. Similar to how jarring the change was when Game of Thrones went past source material and had to start creating their own dialogue. I have no doubt it will look incredible and probably have some epic moments. It's the other stuff I worry about
I think most of Primes TV offering have been excellent. The movies are ass, but the only real TV mess was Wheel of Time which was much more due to Covid filming issues and having to fire a main actor.
I mean, LOTR has been a decades long phenomenon without the explicit content of a GOT and that resonates with a subset of people, both on the trueness to Tolkien's world and entertainment preferences. I can see where it'd be disappointing that Amazon thinks they have to sex it up to make it succeed
while i don't disagree w/ these takes - the article says "he would also excoriate Prime Video for including nudity in the show as revealed in a number of behind-the-scenes photos from the production as well as a newly released photo from the show." and the picture they associated with it is:
maybe there's other pics they're referencing in that article, and maybe there's other scenes that we're not privy to at this time so idk
Is the blonde dude Sauron in human form or someone else? It's been awhile since I brushed up on my Tolkien, but I seem to remember him being described as taking an attractive form at some point in his rise to power.
