Looking for a decent rig. Will “primarily” be for work but would like to be able to run games on it. I don’t have any idea how to pick parts or build one and I don’t have a lot of time to do it. Any suggestions for a setup 1.5-2k?
I just bought a msi 4090 slim today when I was out and found a pretty good deal at Best Buy. I’m buying the rest of my new rig when I go to micro center.
I think it’s fun to find premade builds, and see how much cheaper you can buy the parts yourself. Yes, does require you to build yourself, which you’d rather not. I have no clue if it’s best to go through a site that’s known for building (origin, power gpu, etc), big box company (dell, HP, etc), or what.
I thought the building simulator on micro centers website was better than pc part picker. Also you can have them build it for you for like $150 or so.
I bought newegg's brand ABS (Advanced battlestations, cringe) and it's been great other than the shit ssd they put in it
I think pc part picker is a great starting point as you can see all/most of the components you’ll need and can view a variety of parts from basic to rich enthusiast.
I'm not close enough to the pulse or news on components, but I thought there were major defects in the 990 Pros from Samsung. I didn't consider those drives when I built my pc last year. Other than that, the build looks solid and pretty capable/future proof.
That’s a ton of storage, wish I had it, lol. I wanted a 27” G7 for a long time. Always go back and forth on getting a new monitor. Don’t really need one, but I’m a sucker for new models.
Have my eye on this monitor. Rocking an 8 year old asus led 1440 165 now that’s been great. But had a scratch on it from moving that annoys me https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/ali...5df/apd/210-bljd/monitors-monitor-accessories
The C3's from LG are starting to hit pretty substantial clearance prices as the C4 hits stores all this month. I may pick one up too.
Have this one and love it. Not sure if this has changed, but Alienware has OLED burn in protection while other monitors do not, including dell?
Getting use to oled not being as bright as IPS, but the colors are great. have lg oled tv so kinda knew what to expect.
Told my wife I wanted to buy a new monitor, specifically the 32" OLED. She told me I have to sell these unused monitors first, lol.
I installed it and got started on the easiest (left most) scenario and then realized I was tired as hell and it wasn’t holding my hand. I will return to it refreshed this weekend at worst.
Probably have 8 hours in game between like 2 days. Never planned on playing that long, but I completely lost track of time. I’m still not very good at the game, and there’s certainly improvements to be made (it’s early release), but it’s got a lot of potential. I’d put it closer to a city builder or age of empires than a total war contender.
In my maybe 2 hours total of playing/learning, it doesn’t seem near as battle focused. At least not early game
