update: skipping a GPU for now on this current build. Didn't want to buy one without current gen connectors nor an inexpensive one that didn't create a big performance bump.
Have been considering doing a build with FalconNorthwest for a couple of years now. Finally pulled the trigger. Configuration Summary: Chassis: Talon Power Supply: Seasonic PRIME TX 1300 Watt Motherboard: Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Hero WIFI Processor: Intel Core i9-14900K 24-Core - 2.5GHz to 6.0GHz Memory: Kingston FURY Renegade 96GB (2x48GB) - 6400MHz Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Founders Edition - 16GB Storage: Crucial T700 4TB - PCIe Gen 5.0 M.2 SSD
I wish it was that much. Nearly double that. Crazy amount to spend but their engineering and precision were near the top of every review/list I could find. Plus great customer service. My current PC that I purchased individual components and built is showing its age now. Wanted to go with them to experience basically the best there is in the industry (from what I have read).
their cases and service/warranty must be good to command a ~$2k premium on the BOM. Are they doing any custom fabrication or touches? I just built a 14700k without a GPU for $1150. Feel pretty good about how far that money went when glancing at similar builds with that CPU in pcpartpicker. Will pick up an RTX 5070 or similar when it comes out. You do have a lot of PCIe headroom if new boards or components are realized down the line.
From everything I read they do. They sell custom prints and stuff but I didn't care about any of that. More focused on performance items. Yeah I went overkill on the power supply (in case of future upgrade), and had them prewire for possible expansion down the line. Part of the cost is the name alone I'm sure. But didn't really find anything negative about them, when I did on pretty much every other builder.
I immediately said "I need to try to get one"...then remembered I have a regular deck collecting dust.
Been about a year with my OG deck and I love it don’t need the OLED and I’ll get the last laugh when the Steam Deck 2 comes out in 5 years imo
Yes you can look online how to get cloud gaming installed. I’ve got mine running cloud and blizzard. And didn’t switch to windows.
So much of my wishlist is on sale. The Disney Afternoon Collection and Aladdin/Lion King pack are probably going to happen, not sure what else.
My kid wants a gaming/video editing PC for Xmas. He’s just going to be using it to play things like Roblox/Minecraft/steam games and the “editing” is just clipping and putting commentary on roblox videos for his YouTube page. I haven’t had a desktop in well over a decade so I don’t even know where to start.
At a certain point, you realize you are the most inefficient planner and everything has gone to shit in a tangle of pipes (specifically, this is when I noticed it, transitioning to pipes for oil, water, so on). There are people who have uploaded their replicable blueprints online.
After the initial learning curve, dealing with fluids and oil processing is the next big step for sure. This is a great time to learn how to use circuits.
I’m glad more people are playing factorio. One of my favorite games and the upcoming expansion looks great.
Any mods y’all use? I remember hearing about the game in here before, and I’ve been kind of burning out on my usual playlist of games. Really glad I found the demo last night.
