Hi, hi. Just curious your opinion between Lenovo - Legion Slim 5 16" Ryzen 5 7640 HS w/ 16 GB RTX 4060 512 GB ASUS ROG G14 165 Hz QHD AMD Ryzen 9 w/16 GB RTX 4060 512 GB ASUS TUF A16 AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS with 16 GB DDR5 Radeon RX7600S 512GB
Don’t know how PoE devs have any chance of positively following up what just happened with the 3.23 Affliction league (people figured out ways to drop unprecedented fucking mountains of loot with stacking magic find and wisps). They usually attempt to restrict player power or the in game economy in a drastic backtrack when things get that out of hand. New 3.24 league announcement stream starts in 10min.
seems like my ryzen 2600X is finally about to kick the bucket might be doing a minor upgrade sooner than i planned
luckily for me the 1080Ti still carries its weight. after the upgrade it might finally be the bottleneck
living 5 minutes from a micro center rules though. their in-store bundles are super good deals a 78003DX, a B650 board, and 32gb of ddr5-6000 for like $500
The closest microcenter to me is the one opening in charlotte in may. They had some promo to sign up for that i did so now i get in 2 days before the general public and I'm imagine I'm going to feel like Charlie in Charlie and the Chocolate factory since I've never been in one before. Definitely buying a brand new build.
Micro Center is what GameStop was to me as a kid. Especially if you're single, without any responsibilities, it's magical.
Anyone ever played Fallout 4 VR? Supposedly with a core set of mods it makes the game one of the best open world VR shooters.
Okay okay okay, one more time link me some sub 1k gaming laptops. Size doesn't matter because I'm docking it, Mormon style.
How about these for $1k? Spoiler: Intel Core i7 Option 1: Acer Nitro 17 AN17-51-70CB 17.3" Gaming Laptop Computer Platinum Collection - Black Intel Core i7 13th Gen 13700H 1.8GHz Processor NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8GB GDDR6 16GB DDR5 RAM 1TB Solid State Drive Spoiler: AMD Ryzen 9 Option 2: ASUS TUF Gaming A15 FA507XV-MS94 15.6" Laptop Computer Platinum Collection - Gray AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS 4.0GHz Processor NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8GB GDDR6 16GB DDR5-4800 RAM 1TB Solid State Drive
Every Acer computer I have had has been abysmal, monitors have been great. I guess my question is why do you want a gaming PC? Because at the sub 1k specs, getting a mobile 4050 is a graphics card in name only. I have found spending a little more and being a stickler about specs makes your money go a little further by future proofing the machine for a bit. And then expounding on that its all about the cooling
I have a work laptop, and my personal computing needs are fairly low demand in terms of the gaming I do. Games I’m currently playing are starting to put too much demand on my desktop that I built ~8yrs ago (intel core i5 with GTX 960) with the intention of upgrading as necessary. At this point, it’s too far behind to upgrade when I can buy a prebuilt. I’ve decided that I just don’t upgrade periodically. So, laptop seems to be the solution for simplicity, clean aesthetic, and the rare occasion when I take it to my buddy’s place and dock to one of his monitors to game. Also, prices for laptops seem to have come down significantly.
Yeah I get you with work laptop and gaming laptop. The best bang for my buck I've purchased is an MSI stealth, although the most recent one I got had some cooling issues (I ended up giving it to my sister so she could run AutoCAD on it instead of her dell from 2006). I liked the form factor, portability, power and battery life and I think it was 1700-1800. I just recently splurged and got the ROG strix scar and have been happy with it as a "desktop replacement." Still a little bulky and fans are not the quietest. Lots of people on reddit swear by Lenovo Legion but every lenovo pc I have had (non gaming) has been a piece of shit. Just from a cursory search it seems like you could get something with an i7/4070 for around 1300 but I'm not sure how tight your budget is
I'm artificially limiting my budget because I don't need a ton of processing power. As an example, my most played games in the past calendar year are: Remnant: From the Ashes Finalo Fantasy VI Divinity: Original Sin 2 The Ascent Borderlands 3 Destiny 2 Beyond that it's just basic Microsoft office work, web browsing, and YouTube.
yeah I get you. I'd probably try and land in that 1000-1300 range because sometimes these budget gaming laptops seem like shit but idk. I stick to reddit reviews/threads because those people test and argue the fuck out of everything
Yeah both of those are better on paper than the first link, as they have more juice and cost less. Like the above user said, I would avoid Acer as a brand though. ASUS is a well regarded brand and that should be a very good cpu + gpu combo. I've played 0 of those games though to know how many fps you'll get though. I cannot imagine it being anything less than solid/stable, even if it's not elite or anywhere near bleeding edge.
If you think that you’ll play anything more recent/more demanding then I’d recommend getting a gpu with more than 8 gb of vram. I know it’s not possible on 1k or less, but I was just throwing that out there.
Given that I'm going to ride this thing for 8+ years, I'll splurge per your recommendation and that of Det. Frank Bullitt and Leeroy Jenkins! > 8GB VRAM ≥ Intel i7 ≥ NVIDIA 4070 Consider ASUS, avoid Acer Do you guys have feelings towards AMD Ryzen?
I'm an intel guy but a modern ryzen chip will be absolutely fine as long as you don't go with the super low power ones (usually denoted by a U in the model name), but one of those is unlikely to be paired with a 4070 or higher.
I am also an intel guy but I have no real reason to be. Supposedly AMD performs just as well on single core stuff but idk. I think i7 or i9 (pricey) plus a 4070 should last you a while (not sure about 8 years, I'm thinking more 4ish years) I'd say Asus, MSI, Lenovo (internet loves), Razer (the macbook of gaming laptops)
I've had an AMD Ryzen 3700X for 5-6 years combined with a 2070super and I've never had any issues with either of them. I'm buying a new system next month when the microcenter in Charlotte opens.
How often are you actually taking this thing out of the house? It's really not that much of a hassle to move a desktop around if you're doing it like 5 times a year. Plus you can get small form factor desktops if you want some kind of happy medium https://www.newegg.com/abs-ca14700f4060ti-cyclone-aqua/p/N82E16883360492?Item=N82E16883360492 You could go even smaller than that
i built my rig late 2016. the 1070 is still going strong and works fine, definitely some issues keeping up with current games but not enough to look into a rebuild until now. the cpu though, i ended up replacing after 6 years. so imo, 8+ years from a build isn't totally unreasonable if you go big initially.
I really want a new GPU, but that means I need a whole new build. New CPU, new MOBO, new Power Supply, probably an AIO.
Yeah I agree, thats kind of what I meant about dont skimp up front, even though my comment directly refutes what I'm agreeing with lol

Is there anything akin to a Mac Mini for PC? It’s job would be to take up as little space as possible while being an Xbox game pass/Ps5 remote play machine for my living room tv.
bunch of quality of life stuff mainly on game 1 plus the more challenging suicide mission mod for 2 and the Miranda as a squad mate one for 3 plus a bunch of armors and weapons and stuff like that
You could get a mini atx format pc and still fit in most modern GPUs. There are smaller formats than that but I don't know much about them.

Anyone interested in the Gray Zone Warfare EA that has gone out to content creators? Looks like a mix of Arma/Tarkov/DayZ and other mil sim games.
I'm through the first boss of No rest for the Wicked early access. Man this is going to be good. ARPG from the makers of Ori
