I have so many questions about that business, how much money can they make a year? Maybe he realizes that supporting a family and doing this job is not working out well.
Granted, I do hope it’s not a serious issue but Driskell also asked for prayers when his house was unsuccessfully broken into so we’re getting pretty liberal with the asks
reading the tea leaves, I would bet good money they merge with Ii at some point in the nearish future.
I've been curious about this as well. -Average subscription value of $75 (weighting all his price tiers) times 5,000 subscribers (total guess) = $375,000 revenue -Sells 10 items per day at an average of $30 per item = maybe another $125,000 revenue -Maybe another $200k or so from advertising So maybe Irish Breakdown's revenue is a little under $1m per year? After hosting, production, merchandise, etc. fees maybe he pays these guys $50k per year and clears $150-200k for himself? No clue
Would bet he clears like 100-150k. He stopped hiring after saying he was going to bring on 2-3 more people last year so I bet it’s thinner margins than we think.
The advertising and YouTube superchats are probably a lot more than people realize. Especially considering they’re basically daily 4 hour shows.
Maybe it will heal up like that kid's shoulder on Rookie of the Year and he'll be running a 4.1 40 this year. Also kicking 70 yard fg's with it.
Also ND seems to be actively recruiting IMG again after a two year hiatus which means we are now negotiating with agents and playing the bag game openly that’s a stark change from the previous administration it might be why Loy is so confident ND closes on all those top 100 kids
SC starting to throw massive guaranteed bags around too for more than transfers, just flipped a 5 star from Georgia from UGA to USC
IB recruiting Spoiler Hey y’all, here is some recruiting intel from this weekend. I will continue to update as we get more. It was a successful weekend, despite some snow to start the trip for several of the recruits. One of the most important visitors was 2025 Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman wide receiver Derek Meadows, who Notre Dame has been prioritizing since he camped in South Bend last offseason. It was only a one-day visit for Meadows, but there is positive buzz coming out of this weekend. Heading into the visit, Irish commits like Deuce Knight and Jerome Bettis Jr. had been pushing very hard for Meadows, and both players were on campus as well. After having a couple conversations with various players, there’s a feeling that Notre Dame has really withstood the barrage of offers Meadows has received recently. They are still very much high on the board for the 6-5, 190-pound pass catcher. It doesn’t appear that a decision is imminent, but I feel good about where Notre Dame is. Another huge 2025 target is Indianapolis (Ind.) Ben Davis cornerback Mark Zackery, who is another major priority for the program. Zackery spent a lot of time with Knight specifically, and had some great one-on-one time with various coaches, including Mike Mickens and Marcus Freeman. Knight is especially high on Notre Dame’s chances. There is little question that the Irish is the leader at this point. This recruitment feels more like when, not if, but they must close and finish this one out down the stretch. Zackery keeps coming back to campus, and Notre Dame keeps impressing. I had the chance to speak with 2026 Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy safety Zech Fort. It’s funny… you hear IMG Academy and skepticism pops in your head when talking about Notre Dame. This is one that I believe is trending in a great direction. Here was a great quote from Fort on how he thinks he fits with the program. “I see myself fitting in Notre Dame perfectly,” said Fort. “I’m someone who wants to be elite on and off the field. The staff sees me fitting in Notre Dame perfectly due to my skill set and my versatility as a defensive back.” It appears that this visit really blew Fort away. He’s widely considered a big time safety recruit in the 2026 class, and gaining momentum early is HUGE. For the third time, 2026 Lake Mary (Fla.) High School quarterback Noah Grubbs made the trip back to campus. The next couple of months are going to give us great insight into what is going to happen with 2026 quarterback recruiting with Grubbs and Brady Hart having already set up visits. I asked Grubbs if South Bend was as cool as he remembered and he had a fun response. “It was even better,” Grubbs said. “But literally cool. It was snowing when I arrived which wasn’t the case last September.” After joking about the snow, Grubbs made it very apparent that the weather will make no impact on his decision. The Florida native ended up spending two days on campus, Friday and Saturday. It doesn’t appear that Grubbs is in decision making mode but Notre Dame will certainly be in it until the end. He is now stopping in Michigan, so we will see if Notre Dame is still the talk of the travels after the weekend, but I have a feeling they will be. UPDATED: 8:40 PM eastern time As Shaun Davis has posted yesterday, things are in a great spot with 2026 Country Club Hills (Ill.) Hillcrest defensive lineman McHale Blade, who made his second trip to campus over the last couple of weeks. The 6-4, 240-pound Blade told Shaun that this trip was even better than the first, citing the intensity of the most recent practice. He was focusing on the defensive line drills and 1-on1s, really paying attention to the coaching and how the players were competing. Blade also got the chance to meet Deuce Knight in person, which seemed to really leave a great impression on him. It’s early but the Irish have made a great early impression on Blade, who could end up becoming a priority player from their backyard. The recruitment of 2025 Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei cornerback Chuck McDonald III has been an interesting one. There hasn’t been a ton of momentum for Notre Dame entering the weekend, but they have been a school that the California star has been very complimentary of in the past. This was, however, his first trip to South Bend. According to McDonald, things are in a really good place with the Irish and he was really impressed with the practice. He also got a chance to have deep discussions, and watched some film with Mike Mickens, Al Golden and Marcus Freeman. I’d say Notre Dame has an outside shot if they push but do think it’s more likely that McDonald stays out West. If they get him back for an official visit then it’s a good sign they did enough to really move the needle. A really interesting recruitment is 2026 Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban cornerback Elbert Hill, who made his second trip to South Bend on Saturday. There’s a quick impulse to favor the Buckeyes for an instate kid they value heavily, which is very understandable. Mike Mickens and Marcus Freeman have made this one interesting, both visiting during the open period and tag teaming this recruitment early. Hill continues to be very high on Notre Dame following this visit. He gushes over his relationships with the staff. This certainly feels like a Notre Dame-Ohio State battle in the end, and the Irish certainly have a legitimate chance. An interesting player to keep a close eye on is 2026 Orange Park (Fla.) Fleming Island pass rusher Jarius Rodgers. The 6-5, 190-pound defensive end is a high upside player whose body needs a lot of physical development but the future is very bright. Rodgers made his first trip to campus and was very, very excited to talk about the practice. He told me that he could visualize himself with the group and got super excited and anxious to get back on the field. Coach Washington really made an impression on him, describing him as passionate and intense. There is already a want to get back on campus again in the future.
kid is so built already! He’ll definitely have some packages in for him this year, especially end of the year
it'll be a fun question to ask when they are juniors/seniors but who was the better WR at ND, Cam Williams or Micah Gilbert?
II defense report Spoiler Notre Dame, Ind. — In what appeared to be the makings of a physical practice—Notre Dame's sixth of the 15-session spring—but, per usual, the daily media was ushered out after five viewing periods. Highlights during our time inside the Irish Athletic Complex's walls were as follows: The music stylings of Seven Nation Army, Pearl Jam, and The Hollies greeted the media—or, I suppose, Notre Dame's roster—during FSA stretch. In line but not in pads defensively as has been the case throughout the spring: defensive linemen Aiden Gobaira (August ACL surgery), Armel Mukam (shoulder surgery), and Loghan Thomas (shoulder surgery). Mukam sprinted to his designated line post-stretch Sidelined defensively today was preferred walk-on cornerback Isaiah Dunn. Dunn had flashed in our first practice viewing on March 7. Rylie Mills and Howard Cross were not in attendance during our viewing period—they pair had class requirements last Wednesday as well. Also out: Junior Tuihalamaka, sidelined along with quarterback Steve Angeli by illness. Notre Dame began with a brief 11-on-11 Thud period which afforded a chance to look at the No. 1 and No. 2 defenses, however briefly. 1st Unit: Defensive Line: Jordan Botelho, RJ Oben, Jason Onye, and Donovan Hinish Linebackers: Jack Kiser, Drayk Bowen Nickel: Jordan Clark Defensive Backs: Jaden Mickey, Clarence Lewis, Xavier Watts, and Adon Shuler 2nd Unit: Defensive Line: Boubacar Traore, Josh Burnham, Sean Sevillano Jr., and Cole Mullins Linebackers: Jaiden Ausberry and Nickel: Micah Bell Defensive Backs: Christian Gray, Chance Tucker, Luke Talich, and Ben Minich Clarence Lewis made two plays vs. the live offense, first on a boundary corner blitz in which he combined with Botelho and Bowen for a run Stuff, then on a pass defended downfield on a dig route. Segment Three began with special teams drills including 2-on-1 against the punt returner in which the gunners form a cone (flanking him upon the catch). Those defensive tandems were as follows: Christian Gray and Micah Bell Jordan Clark and wide receiver Kris Mitchell Wide receiver Jayden Harrison and Ben Minich Chance Tucker and wide receiver Cam Williams Working together in what appeared to be related punt coverage drill were the following: Jordan Botelho, Devyn Ford, Drayk Bowen, Cooper Flanagan, Micah Gilbert, and Davis Sherwood. Boubacar Traore, Jaylen Sneed, Josh Burnham, Clarence Lewis, *Bryce Young (or at least I wrote down #30), and Kahanu Kia Preston Zinter, Cole Mullins, Jaiden Ausberry, Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, and Jack Kiser The tail-end of the third segment brought more punt coverage action: Returner: Jaden Greathouse Coverage: Jordan Clark, Jack Kiser, Drayk Bowen, Clarence Lewis Returner: Jaden Mickey (who ran after a fair catch) Coverage: Micah Bell, Jaylen Sneed, Adon Shuler, Luke Talich Returner: KK Smith Coverage: Jaiden Ausberry, Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, Ben Minich, and Marty Auer A few thoughts from watching various action through three periods: KK Smith has tremendous short space quickness. (So too does Jaden Mickey, actually)… The new linebackers can move. Watching Ausberry and Viliamu-Asa move through drills is a treat Brenan Vernon is noticeably larger as he moves to his permanent home of defensive tackle. He needed to lose the bad weight last year—and did, showing up at SDE size—and now his conversion should be complete by season's end. Ideally sooner. Adon Shuler has great length—and apparently does not believe in eating rubbish, as Kevin McCallister once mused whilst home alone. Luke Talich is a helmet taller than most of his defensive back brethren Our last 10 minutes afforded a look at Goal-to-Go Nickel and Dime coverages. (Scout team snaps from the 8-yard line). This was largely full-speed but no live ball action. The initial five defensive backs were Clark (Nickel), Mickey (Field), Lewis (boundary), Watts and Shuler. They were followed by Bell (Nickel), Gray (Field), I wrote down Urlacher to the boundary, but perhaps it was Tucker, with Talich and Minich at safety. At some point, Urlacher worked into the mix (again, I assume safety and I missed Tucker's # as Tucker was involved as well.) They were joined by Jaiden Ausberry, Jaylen Sneed, and Jack Kiser (do the match and it's a 3-down front, though the defensive linemen worked elsewhere). Viliamu-Asa joined later. Benjamin Morrison watched from the end zone, his right arm in a sling. Alongside him? Incoming transfer Rod Heard, not yet in official Irish practice viewing gear. This group received extra work: Sneed, Kiser, Clark, Watts, Shuler, Mickey, Lewis Most important, the coaches directing these two segments were Al Golden, Mike Mickens, Marty Biagi, Max Bullough, and Marcus Freeman. That's the entire defensive braintrust. And then we left… Notre Dame will resume spring practice with Session No. 7 next week following Easter Break.
Offense Spoiler And then they were two. For a day, anyway. Notre Dame resumed work Wednesday in its spring football camp inside the Irish Athletic Center, and with Riley Leonard sidelined from surgery – expected to essentially miss the remainder of spring – and Steve Angeli out with what Notre Dame said was illness, redshirt-freshman Kenny Minchey and midyear-enrollee CJ Carr were left as the Irish's only scholarship quarterbacks. Working in shells and shorts, the Irish did launch into a pair of quick series for the first- and second-team offenses against their defensive counterparts, with Minchey and Carr operating the offense. Minchey handed off first to Jeremiyah Love and then completed a sideline-out to Cooper Flanagan. He worked behind what thus far has been the standard opening five offensive linemen, from left to right, of Charles Jagusah, Pat Coogan, Ashton Craig, Billy Schrauth and Tosh Baker. A pass across the middle where Minchey worked through his progressions and intended for Micah Gilbert was instead broken up by Clarence Lewis. It was an accurate pass, if perhaps a split-second late, and Lewis broke well on the ball to deflect the throw. Carr then helmed brief command of the second unit, opening with a handoff to Aneyas Williams and then connecting on a pass with Cam Williams. From right to left with the second-team offensive line, it was Aamil Wagner, Rocco Spindler, Sam Pendleton (center), Ty Chan and Sullivan Absher. Marcus Freeman then shifted his team into a variety of individual drills, and Freeman appeared intently involved in the Irish's punt coverage drills. In punt return work, Jaden Greathouse, KK Smith, Jadarian Price and Gi'Bran Payne all got multiple reps as the deep return man. Joe Rudolph shifted his offensive line outside to work a variety of drills, but mostly the unit focused today on communication and teaming together to handle backside-blocking. Rudolph had strong praise for Schrauth's "great pad level" in the session, which featured Rudolph drilling critical pre-snap communication for post-snap execution. The Irish OL were working to seal their defenders to either the left or right and then also had to have communication with the tackle to pick up any delayed blitzes. Rudolph challenged the group to win the backside-block but not to stay level, noting "If (we) end up flat (across the line of scrimmage), nobody won the gap." On another rep, he challenged Wagner to essentially become a fire hydrant. "You ever run full-speed into a fire hydrant?," he asked. "No. It would hurt like (a lot). Plug that base" and get firm. Rudolph also had strong teaching for the group as they worked some advanced looks, saying, "Acknowledge what you see (from the defense), but be calm with a presence." Leonard was a practice observer, as was Deion Colzie in a red, non-contact jersey after surgery on his finger. Kedren Young was present but continued not to be a participant, as Freeman noted Saturday that Young has been dealing with a hamstring issue. Notre Dame wrapped the open portion of practice with quarterbacks working route progressions. In that setting, Carr delivered a really nice throw to Greathouse on an in-cut into the end zone.
or Raiden Vines Bright who just finished a 2 day visit yesterday others are saying it's Zachery finally committing regardless, i'd take any of the 3 and be very happy
They are going to take 25+ every year now and cull the roster. It seems like there is an open invitation to finish your degree on scholarship and transfer for anyone who wants it.
Regardless of what some on the beat say, it looks like they'll take 5. Even Meadows, as high as he's ranked and as much upside as he has, is very much unproven from a productivity point of view. Who thought last year's group would look like it does now? I think WR is still in load up mode versus reload mode.
wow, that's pretty crazy...Sacca's played football w/ Golden I believe so those guys are really close I think most thought that OSU was in the lead here
