If what you guys say is true, that's a very good result for ND. Auto qualify in Top 14, 1% of revenue and an additional $6.5m when they do make the playoffs? Excellent outcome.
How does a 14 team playoff work from a bracket perspective? Same as 12 team only one more round of 11/14 and 12/13?
When in doubt, assume it’s the NFL model (or quickly moving that direction) because it’s the case study the media companies are trying to replicate
Would like someone more athletic but he's exactly what we need. Low post scorer that is a good passer
I misread it and immediately thought it was the dad still having eligibility. That doesn’t feel like nearly long enough ago for his son to be a hs Junior.
He got injured/wasn’t playing very much and his contract expired. Assume he just decided he’d rather retire than try to grind out a few more years as a backup.
Okwara was young and raw (I think he was still 16 when he first got to campus). BK burned his redshirt doing special teams shit and it took him until midway thru his senior year to really develop. he went undrafted, but he would have been one of the best players on the team as a fifth year senior and very likely played his way into the mid rounds if he could have stayed. then years later Brian Kelly left ND for LSU so he can just eat shit in general if not for this specifically.
Ahhh ok. And yes, the eat shit BK needs no actual explanation, but I appreciate the reminder on Okwara
If I recall he burned his redshirt and barely played him but could be wrong Edit: Beist covered it better
Looks like Caitlin Clark was essentially all lined up to go to ND and did everything but commit, then committed to Iowa without her parents knowing because everybody was pushing her to ND but she wanted to stay in Iowa Semi-related, but freshman year the coolest girl in our friend group was from Iowa and transferred back to Iowa after one year. Iowa girls just love Iowa https://www.espn.com/womens-college...-ncaa-women-basketball-tournament-ready-march
II def practice report Spoiler Notre Dame continued its third spring camp under Marcus Freeman, working Wednesday almost exclusively inside the Irish Athletics Center during the flex and five periods open to media. With intensity elevating as the Fighting Irish move closer to being able to get through the transition period and into full pads rather than just shells, one noteworthy attendee at practice – not a participant but active in observing the drills of his former position – was defensive lineman Gabriel Rubio. He was in Notre Dame gear and appeared to be maintaining his physical conditioning as he spends the semester away from the team. Freeman has indicated he fully expects Rubio to return to the Irish roster this summer. Both the defensive and offensive lines did log work outside, as a light sleet spit down with temperatures lingering in the low 30s. Al Washington, scheduled to speak today with reporters, worked an intense get-off drill with the linemen, rotating the tackles and edge defenders between his sets and Al Golden’s work with them inside the IAC. Washington preached to his charges, “Competition is everything. Compete at everything.” Notre Dame is drawing closer to its always hotly contested “jersey scrimmage,” and the Irish rest just one month from the annual Blue-Gold Game April 20 that wraps up camp. Bryce Young continues to flash; he’s already begun adding some muscle to his frame, and he simply eats up space in a fluid manner. Working with Golden on edge contain and reading the backfield-action, Young was smooth – and improved from one rep to the next – as he read the edge, eyed the ball and then wrapped up the ball-carrier. It was a drill Golden worked intently with all the Irish edge defenders, keying discipline to keep edge contain while eyes into the backfield to read the play. Josh Burnham, Brenan Vernon and RJ Oben were others who flashed in the brief viewing session for that drill, but it was Young’s work that elicited some gushing praise from onlookers. Some NFL scouts, as well as former Irish players such as Joe Alt, already had arrived at Notre Dame in advance of the Irish’s scheduled Thursday pro day. Elsewhere on defense, Mike Mickens continues to oversee the entire back-end but Marty Biagi also is increasing his detailed work with safeties. With the more veteran players working earlier with Mickens and the younger group with Biagi, the Irish secondary worked angles and pursuit to the sideline. Even in that fundamentals-focused five-minute session, Jayden Harrison flashed in a one-on-one drill where his quick-twitch shiftiness easily left an Irish defender grasping in space. The back-end also worked in detail on sideline contain and boundary discipline on deep routes, with Mickens coaching up defenders to keep inside leverage and force receivers to the boundary to help defenders keep leverage on those routes. Notre Dame put all of its defenders through a station of drills, with each position group working various elements with all defensive coaches. It was interesting watching Max Bullough work fundamentals and specifically working individually with Boubacar Traore, who’s added muscle and appears much more comfortable. Like Young, Traore possesses just a fluidity about his game. In an early special teams period, Mitch Jeter showcased solid accuracy and leg-strength, easily connecting from 45 yards with the ball at the top-third of the uprights as it carried through the post, but it overall was not the most accurate day for the Irish place-kickers.
offense Spoiler Notre Dame, Ind. — Winter temperatures at spring’s outset relegated Notre Dame to a mostly indoor second practice session today at the Irish Athletics Complex. With Notre Dame’s Pro Day slated for Thursday, Dignitaries in attendance included Joe Alt and the Great Jon Sot. Of potentially greater importance, however: senior defensive tackle Gabriel Rubio watched his position mates out of uniform. A few personnel notes: Football Wide Receiver/Lacrosse Midfielder Jordan Faison was not at practice during our brief (40 minute) viewing period. Clemson transfer Beaux Collins reportedly was (I did not, but other media members saw him out of uniform) as was Northwestern graduate-transfer Rod Heard II watching his safety teammates. The untrained eye would not fare well differentiating the arms of five of the six quarterbacks on hand today: Steve Angeli, CJ Carr, Riley Leonard, Kenny Minchey, and coach Gino Guidugli all throw darts against air—a far cry from the oddity that was Notre Dame Quarterbacks practice 2017-2022. I could watch CJ Carr throw against air all day. Sam Hartman was also in attendance Former walk-on quarterback/one-time starting holder Dylan Devezin continues to work with the running backs. No longer wears the protected red jersey, either. Head coach Marcus Freeman donned protective padding to work with safeties (hand placement/strike) in a position drill Tight end Eli Raridon did not participate in footwork drills with his position group (he was there with his position group) Not much to take away from the requisite DB vs. WR and LB vs. TE drills (Pass-catcher begins looking away from the passer; defender does an up-down before exploding to tag-off the pass-catcher), but I can report the following: Jaden Greathouse puts his foot in the ground and immediately creates separation. I guaranteed he’s faster than his 2023 version… KK Smith continues to impress with his short-space quickness Cam Williams—while not as quick in his cuts as Smith/Greathouse—is at full speed on step No. 3. When that becomes Step No. 2, look out, because that is one fluid cat… As a potential punt returner, cornerback Jaden Mickey often takes part in this drill as part of the offense. Today, either he or Smith had second quickest cuts among the group… Jayden Harrison continues to flash unique quickness in short space. His double-cut fake just absolutely shredded the would-be tackler (it’s tag, of course). Not sure you’re supposed to execute two fakes in this drill, but who cares, it looked great! Offensive Formations: The following aligned to run through formations—albeit against their fellow offensive competitors: Left to Right 1st Unit: Charles Jagusah, Pat Coogan, Ashton Craig, Billy Schrauth, Tosh Baker. They were joined by wide receivers Jayden Thomas, Jaden Greathouse, and Kris Mitchell. The first quarterback was Steve Angeli with a combination of Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price in the backfield, pending the tight end’s presence (Cooper Flanagan). On one snap, Angeli executed a fake Jet Sweep to Love with Price in the backfield. The second unit was led by Riley Leonard at quarterback with an offensive line of (left to right) Sullivan Absher, Sam Pendleton, Joe Otting, Rocco Spindler, and Aamil Wagner. They were joined by tight end Davis Sherwood, running back Gi'Bran Payne, and wide receivers Deion Colzie, Jayden Harrison, and KK Smith. Walk-on tight end Charlie Selna—the lone holdover from the Charlie Weis era—likewise took tight end reps. I did not catch the entire third-unit offensive line but I did see Ty Chan (RT), Christopher Terek (RG) Styles Prescod (LG), and thus I assume Anthonie Knapp (LT) and Peter Jones (C). Kicking: Mitch Jeter (deep) and Zac Yoakam (in front) alternated to begin practice with the following results: Jeter: 46 yards badly wide left…41 yards down the pipes…35 yards left upright Doink…Down the pipes from 45…down the middle again from 39…perfect from 30 and from 26…down the middle from 45 and accurate from 39… Yoakam: Good from 30 yards…Left upright Doink from 26…Good from 35 (Barely snuck through)…Good from 46…an ugly left-sidewinder miss from 42…Good from 35…Ugly from 29
I also think we're going to start taking fewer TEs and more WRs. He was probably a take before this year. Not a bad one, either.
Well, it's official. After reading/listening to reports I'm fully on board the Bryce Young hype train. All aboard
That line didn't make much sense to me either. I thought he meant Kelly, but I can't believe he'd be the last one already unless they meant only tight end (even that I don't think is true unless Evans was not included).
What else is out there? Between him and KVA, I'm ready to be upset when they're still buried behind other upper classmen
Loy's be adamant for a while that ND leads/will land all these guys and he just said it again...that's 5 top 100 players, maybe 5 top 50 players in the end
i know what you mean but maybe it was just a cool moment for them and they wanted to share it, I think this is one that you keep for your family and close friends and yes Roberts looks like a maniac in this picture and his gf looks like she is trying to hide a black eye as badly as jimmy clausen in 2009
And when I say ´this is one you keep for your family and close friends’ it really means 100% of the pictures that people in his position take. I see no good reason for him to post this. Outside of pictures that he takes for his work he should not post anything, only bad things come out of this disclaimer, my sister and her husband work in info security so I am paranoid
Man I can’t handle coach d anymore. I love fb but 20 minutes detailing a wr drill he likes is too much.
You really do not love football enough then , just like he nd wrs. It was never about the shitty talent.
