My wife usually picks up the subs, I think they’re usually posted up at Novel Strand but move around a little. There’s also an Arty’s Express that does mostly kaisers. They’re about to branch out into pizza as well. NGL the cheesesteak is expensive at $28 but it’s massive and probably the best I’ve ever had
COL is about 9% lower in Austin and the average rent is about $300-$500 cheaper than what I am paying currently. Not sure of the accuracy of a google search, but it's about a 13k difference if you make 150k in Denver, you need 137k in Austin for the same lifestyle.
I'm single with a dog, being able to put that money into investments or just increasing my 401k seems worth it right now, but yes, it is Texas
This is true. But I also read a lengthy article about people who moved to Florida for the same reason and regretted it as it was way more expensive than they thought, despite the absence of an income tax.
I think that is for people that are owning a home? I am far too poor for that. Florida is .91% while Texas is 1.68%.
How doable is red rocks with crutches? Supposed to go see Isbell next week but I’m 3 weeks post ACL surgery. I have a handicap placard. Just worried I’ll have to crutch up and down 50 steps in a crowd
Getyourself a wheelchair and think you'll be pretty golden if you can call and get your tickets changed to ada tickets
ADA stuff is already full but our seats are right behind ADA. Not sure what I would do to get a wheelchair
they say they're NY style but looking at photo's online and it doesnt look like it. Cart Driver decent? its directly next door to my Airbnb and and open til midnight
Cart driver is good. I don’t think it is the best in Denver but you can’t go wrong if you are in rino.
Near rino? Best chance is getting rosenberg’s in 5 points but you have to get up early. Call your mother is good but its locations are in other neighborhoods. Closest to you is the one in the highlands / Tennyson. If you are in RiNo and want a good breakfast sandwich, I highly recommend the truck stop sandwich at Port Side
Denver is actually undergoing a bit of a bagel boom right now. It had been pretty barren up until recently. Good article in a recent west word on new bagel shops opening soon
I am trying to find some good pastel de natas here, but I've yet to find one that hits the spot. Reunion Bread was just so so
Re: taxes Colorado vs. Texas — if you’re going from owning to owning, you’ll probably pay more overall in Texas. If you’re renting, you’ll pay less outta pocket, but you’re still paying the landlord’s share. Our taxes on a $300k house in Amarillo were like 4x what we paid in property taxes for a $600k townhome in Denver.
Using the Sixt Union Station location is such a better move than taking the train back to the Airport
it is. I'm gonna be in RiNo for a couple days first and then heading out to Breck. Just so much easier to pickup downtown then get on the train to then drive back west. Also last day I get to just drop off the car instead of paying for parking
Posting it here and in the Isbell thread but I have a free ticket to Red Rocks on Friday if anybody wants it. My buddy got screwed by work and can’t make it. Pros: Red Rocks Jason Isbell Good tickets Cons: Have to hang with Corky
can confirm I moved back here for family reasons more so, but yeah the whole “move to Florida to save money” is completely overblown
Forecast is calling for snow in Breck on Monday. Im driving to RMNP that day. Should I spend the extra money getting an awd rental or should 2wd suffice. I've only driven in snow/ice twice in my life
Coming out for a week in July. Agenda includes Rockies game, Avett Brothers at Red Rocks, hiking in RMNP. My flight home departs at 7:05am on a Thursday. What time would you guys show up at the airport? I ain't trying to get there at 5am but will if I have to.
thursday, you should generally be okay. but a lot of this depends on whether you have precheck, if you are checking a bag, and if you are traveling with kids. If you are solo or just with a spouse, you can definitely show up at 6 and get thru pre-check in 10 mins. I spent less than 5 mins getting thru West security sunday afternoon.
I prefer taking the train, but if you get dropped off by a car, have them drop you off on the west side. If you drive all the way down, you can get dropped off 3 steps from security
I’m solo. Don’t have pre check but sounds like I might should check into it. Unfortunately will be checking a bag because of camping stuff I’m bringing
Currently having trouble making a non red eye to the east coast work but yeah the direct flight thing is dope. Was more comparing it to any other hub airport with the exception of Miami
I see Tally is 4.5 hours from Atlanta so a little further from my situation. But I'm driving 3.5 hours to Atlanta instead of 1.5 hours to Charlotte because the price is much better. And my sister lives near ATL airport so that makes parking and getting there easy.
Nashville airport, extremely close to the city, kind of a hellscape to get in and out of KC airport, easy to get in and out of, but far away from downtown with no transit option Denver airport, easy to get in and out of, far away from downtown but has a transit option. it could be worse for regional to large cities.
the upgraded united lounges have really improved my DIA experience. I hope they get the interior looking like it does at the very end of the United terminals. carpet needs to go.
