Driving out the season ticket holders so they can sell packages to international travelers and corporate sponsors.
Maximizing your earnings power while you have the GOAT on your roster just seems like smart ownership. Capitalize on that investment!
Isn’t part of the reason Messi came is because his contract has him getting a portion of that revenue? You think he’s playing in a clown league for peanuts? Pay up to see the best. Especially when you’re one of the tourism capitols of the world.
The only hope the league will ever have to gain momentum again after this bullshit is for Messi to divorce his wife and start dating Taylor Swift.
Again… Miami brought in the GOAT player, and was also afforded extreme leniency in MLS salary cap to bring in two of his former teammates in order to ensure a flawless transition. Current season ticket holders were paying for dogshit results. This is Miami’s fourth season and they haven’t exactly been world beaters so far. It’s not like they’re displacing decades long season ticket holders that have remained loyal through the best and worst and worst of times. If these season ticket holders aren’t willing to spring for what now appears to be double what they originally put down, to see an incredible product, then what’s the point of even attending?
Does anyone believe that doubled price comes back down at all after Messi and his boys retire in another year?
Doubling prices because of one player, even if it’s Messi, just goes to show what a clown league MLS is.
I have no idea how to get my point across. Am I on ignore or something? MLS bent over backwards to make this shit happen. Here’s a link for reference, and feel free to scope it out for yourself, but MLS has always been on a fairly strict cap approach. Any semblance of that got ignored in order to do this. Busquets and Alba on one team as a duo would ordinarily tap a team out. And where the fuck is DirtBall? Can’t believe I’m caping for MLS right now when this is supposed to be his gig. https://www.capology.com/us/mls/payrolls/
I appreciate Miami for reuniting these Barcelona greats, but goddamn, raising your average team age to like 35 is not that great of a strategy. And in two years when they all retire, then what's Miami left with? All these people that bought the jacked up season tickets are going to be expecting more of the same. Or not, Miami does have a lot to do, I hear
good point. If Beckham and the senior brass that run the org do not have deep ARG or SPA speaking ties, then I wouldd imagine this pipeline, currently quite wide, dries up completely.
And when they don't? Hard to see all these old dudes staying "healthy" and playing every game. One minor tweak and they are out for weeks. I cannot imagine they give an actual single shit about any trophy Beckham tries to dangle in front of.them. These four have won EVERYTHING that matters. Ant MLS trophies they win at this point are just cute decorations in their trophy rooms
Not one of these 4 has anything to prove in MLS. If they walk away with 1 Open Cup trophy or whatever, who cares? They don't. What's an Open Cup to a.Copa del Rey? An MLS championship to a La Liga champion? 3 of these 4 dudes are La Masia boys. Home grown at Barcelona. How much love do you think they really have for 5 years old Miami FC beyond money?
you're straying away from your original point here, you asked what Miami has to gain from this, the answer is potential trophies during however long these guys are there
Wont they just continue to get 35 year olds that are getting washed in Europe, but will dominate MLS? I thought the strategy was pretty clear.
They also got some of the best u20 talents from South America. Facundo Farias is insanely good and they can likely sell him to Europe in a couple years
To buy a single game ticket to Inter Miami at Columbus next season it was going to cost $481 after Ticketmaster fees for a seat in the Crew supporters section where I have season tickets that run about $550 for the full season
Is that through the supporters group/season ticket holders process or just a single game ticket from Miami?
That was through the Crew. They did a sale for season ticket holders to buy extras Then a sale to the public, same prices
Yeah, I knew teams that hosted in the Open Cup last year raised prices so I expected it but not this high
Luis Suarez coming in Those ticket prices are going to be worth it if all these Barca boys can play for a majority of games
It’s going to be very funny when they don’t and people complain about paying $500 to watch an MLS match.
