Probably later down the road but the contracts these networks sign with specific sports leagues requires specific amount of games to be on tv/cable. WBD has like 30 goddam cable channels overall, they’ll want to keep the cable bundle together as long as possible.
I think I'm paying around $95 now because I bundle my YTTV with HBO so it includes the channels. Don't really see the point at that price
Will be interesting to see how quickly the networks shift content off of linear channels. If the add-on bundle is available within YTTV (which was not mentioned afaik) then it might actually improve user navigation/viewing, just at more $$$ monthly subscription than separated. WBD has near zero sports content....USMNT and USWNT, occasional NBA/NHL/MLB...anything else?
We'll probably end up with a system where we have 3-5 apps for a few years to basically get the same content we have now, then someone like YTTV will re-appear to bundle them all into the same app because Smart TV navigation kind of sucks
They do a lot more than occasional NBA and NHL, especially come playoff time. Then a Tuesday night MLB game, 2 divisional series and an LCS for the playoffs, as well as a majority of March Madness. They also operate NBATV for the NBA. Also in regards to the NBA, they're negotiating their next TV deal and I'm sure WBD and ESPN are also viewing this as a way to help keep Amazon, Apple, Google out of a streaming package.

Thinking of the free trial for 4K YTTV for super bowl. I assume it’s easy enough to cancel before the 30 days are up.
I used DAZN to watch the Super Bowl last night while in Cartagena. Cost about $1 and worked really well. Won’t use it when I’m back home but that was really nice to have that option while traveling
Done! Still have it until march 9th but don’t really care if I have 4K for the tournament. the game did look really good last night but I didn’t switch to regular to compare
The new update for YTTV that changes the channel to your previous channel by simply holding OK or Enter on your TV remote is a tiny but great upgrade. It wasn't too difficult having to press down twice then select your previous channel before but this is still way better.
i like the "build your muti-view," but i want to be able to choose any sport/game with it, not just all NBA or college basketball.
Well lacrosse season got me. I’ll pause in the summer YTTV did forget me so I got a free 5 day trial. But all my settings were still there so best of both worlds
I canceled Sling Orange + Blue last night (because it is shit). I'm a cheapskate who: -Needs to be able to watch WVU sports + F1 -Wife will want to watch Bama football -Kids like to watch soccer games (although they usually do highlights on YT) -Already pays for Disney+ legacy bundle -Needs decent DVR since we are never home to watch live -Only needs access for two devices at a time (wife can watch something while I do on different devices) Since we already pay for Disney+, aren't I saving like $20/mo to get Hulu+Live TV (as opposed to YTTV)? Again, literally all we watch is sports and occasionally a Star Wars thing OR one of the talent shows. Thoughts?
Seems like YTTV added some ability to create your own multiview within the same sport (CBB tonight). Was hoping to throw in different sports. But this bodes well for CFB
I'm looking forward to the final version where you can select literally any channels you want. One step at a time
Ya I wanted to put the Sabres game on TNT and the vols espn game on the same screen. But couldn’t do that. Yet.
I wonder what makes it so hard. There’s obviously a reason. I’m assuming some sort of tv rights bullshit
Anybody? Since we already pay for Disney+, aren't I saving like $20/mo to get Hulu+Live TV (as opposed to YTTV)?
Are you asking for people to do the math for you on your own streaming subscription costs? If you're looking for opinions then just subscribe to YTTV because it's better in every way and then go out to eat one less time a month and voilà, you've saved even more than $20 while not having to subject yourself to a limited DVR, crap UI, etc.
Have you tried both? I'm finding yttv to have dreadful picture quality on dvr recordings and am a little frustrated that so much stuff is in 2.0 audio. I've seen some people online say Hulu is a PQ upgrade and others say it's a downgrade. Don't mind temporarily switching, but was curious if you or anyone else had compared the two before going through the hassle
I would've had to drop my legacy Disney+ subscription (no commercials) and re-up for Hulu with LiveTV. I wasn't all about that.
I've tried all the major ones (YTTV, Hulu Live, Sling, Fubo) over the last year and a half or so. I also haven't ever had any issues or noticed a difference in picture quality with YTTV DVR content. Speaking of DVR...unless they've changed it in the past year or so Hulu Lives DVR also forces you to watch the on demand version of a show if you've recorded it and there's one available rather than a true DVR version of it so basically you still have all the ads they make you watch. That's not really an issue with live sports but if you record any type of scripted TV programming it was incredibly annoying.
Yeah I noticed it available on my phone on Saturday. Didn’t check it out but it was the first thing that popped up
