Got a message from hulu that seems like they're about to crack down on pw sharing. Also I wish the full suite of espn could be purchased a la carte. I literally don't watch anything else on yttv
Yeah all I need is ESPN during football season. Would be nice if it's a fraction of the price of these streaming services
Feel like they were throwing around $35 month. Will be interesting how they bundle that with Disney (I could see Hulu being folded into d+)
Yeah it's definitely not going to be that. Live sports are by far the most expensive content for cable TV. The only streaming subscription that's going to cost more than an ESPN one with all the bells and whistles will be streaming cable like YouTube TV and the like.
Consumers would be able to subscribe directly via a new app. Subscribers would also have the ability to bundle the product with the companies’ streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu and Max. The product will be a skinnier bundle of linear networks than a standard cable offering, specifically tailored for sports fans. It will consist of all the broadcast and cable networks owned by Disney, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery that carry sports, along with ESPN+. From Disney, that includes ESPN and its sister networks, such as ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPNEWS, as well as the ABC broadcast network. Warner Bros. Discovery’s networks that showcase sports are TNT, TBS and TruTV. Fox will include the Fox broadcast station along with FS1, FS2 and BTN. https://www.cnbc.com/2024/02/06/esp...oint-sports-streaming-platform-this-year.html
that'll be 39.99. does this mean these entities are going to keep more of their products off their cable channels? imagine how awful CFB saturdays will be having to bounce around from YTTV to some other sports streaming service
you'll replace YTTV and just pass on all non-sports channels? that seems insane for ppl with kids / wives who watch other programming.
Sounds like it’s just the streaming service of what will be on their linear channels and ESPN+ content. ESPN was supposed to go standalone direct to consumer streaming next year, but guessing they won’t anymore with this.
Truly I can think of very few non-sports shows I’ve watched live on cable the past 15 years. And 99% of the time my GF will watch a show the next day on Peacock/Hulu or whatever streaming vs. live because she goes to bed too early lol
By subscribing to this focused, all-in-one premier sports service, fans would have access to the linear sports networks including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPNEWS, ABC, FOX, FS1, FS2, BTN, TNT, TBS, truTV, as well as ESPN+.
I interpret it as a game that’s on ESPN or any other “regular channel” would be shown on YTTV or this new app. This won’t be like a bigger version of ESPN+ or something. At least how I read it.
Yeah that's the nightmare. I guess I'd have to hook up a PC to my TV with a keyboard/mouse on the coffee table so I can switch between tabs instead of services
Which I have an antenna for that anyways when it comes to ABC NBC CBS. Just so I don’t waste my data/don’t have lag etc.
And 7:30 B1G game on NBC. If I couple this with Peacock and Paramount...what would I even be missing out on that's on YTTV?
separate yourself and think of the general public. most people have wives who like Bravo and E!. Some people like watching news. AMC, FX, HGTV. etc. Kids channels. What about things on TNT / TBS that aren't sports?
Isn't all of Bravo's shit on peacock? Not sure about E! but do believe they're owned by NBC so they might be too? TNT/TBS games are already all broadcasted on Max
so your response is to point me to several other streaming services? when instead, all of these things could just be on their normal TV channels. consumer is fucked again paying for 5 different services.
I get it…but I don’t care about the general public lol they can keep cable or YTTV. Bravo for example is on Peacock the next day (not sure if it’s live too or not)
I’m just asking questions because I don’t subscribe to paramount and basically don’t use my peacock app. It seems like what I posted would be potentially cheaper than YTTV. Just trying to figure out what exactly that would leave me without
This is my thought we already have whatever random services on top of YTTV so if this would be cheaper than YTTV I’d most likely not notice much of a difference in terms of how I watch stuff.
For cfb that would cover all your base’s and will almost certainly be cheaper. For NFL you wouldn’t have access to red zone which I know will be a big loss
Didn't think about NFL/NBA networks. I typically subscribe to Sunday Ticket so I can work around not having redzone My mom uses my YTTV password. Outside of local channels/sports I don't think she watches much outside of Bravo, E! and TLC. Covering her bases will be harder than mine I think
NFL still could get an equity stake in ESPN, which would bring NFL Network and RedZone under ESPN’s operations, which would probably all be available under this service.
Every football game except 2-3 per week is on a FOX network and they don't have a streaming platform.
So if a person subscribes to any cable or live TV streaming service (minus Sling) then it fixes that "problem". That's no different than any other major conference
I always assume that these sports streaming services will put many games only on their service so you can't watch on cable
It’s close to what the original version of Hulu was intended for, but just live sports instead of day after scripted/reality programming aired. Just replace NBC with WBD.
No this is Fox, TNT, ESPN, etc all in one bundle. If a game is on ESPN here, it’ll be on ESPN on cable and other streaming cable apps. If a game is available on Fox here, it’s also on Fox OTA and YTTV, etc. This, as far as I can tell, is only for people who DONT want those other channels. For anyone who does, they’ll stay the same. It’s just a cheaper all sports bundle for people to have that option
Looking to cut cable as it's too expensive and haven't used it except for sports in like the past year. Is YTTV considered the best options for sports? Everything else we watch is on a streaming service
Yes, for now. Time will tell on this new product that was just announced but for now YTTV is the best option.
you are putting a lot of trust in these money-hungry companies to simply port over their cable channels without doing ...
