Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread so explain to me like I'm a peasant, how would benzema be a perfect fit for us
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Honestly I don't see much of a difference in quality between Benzema and Gameiro besides Benzema being a presence while Gameiro would be more a guy that beats you on the ground and with speed and attacks the box. Reasons why I think Benzema would be a great signing 1. He is same age as Nasri, they have played at previous levels together and it proves to Nasri and the other actually good players on Arsenal that we are serious. Boosts morale and Wenger may feel it's a way to try and keep Cesc 2. He'd be a 16+ goal scorer in the league for sure with regular time. Could allow us to go back to 4-4-2. Big, poacher target who can actually fight for headers and finish unlike Chamakh. 3. Proves to fans who are paying 6.5% more next season that Wenger is serious. Still though the problem remains. Defense. Someone like Samba is the biggest signing or we aren't winning anything. If we don't get Benzema which is very likely after Mourinho says he wants to keep him plus the others that would be interested and the price tag you gotta go after Gameiro. Yes Arsenal struggle in the air with just Van Persie but Gameiro is a guy that attacks the box and actually will get in there and fight and is a poacher. He's a proven goal scorer. For the money the better signing is Gameiro and it's not close and would be smart business if it allows more money to upgrade the other areas. Might be more about sending a message at this point though. I think signing Parker and Samba along with Gameiro and a quality left back could accomplish the same thing though and would satisfy most fans.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Benzema is pretty fast himself ... he just doesn't play in such a system right now to exhibit that ..
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Arshavin training with ZSP. Imagine they'll make a bid. I'd take Downing. Would be a solid squad player and a good 3rd winger. Him or someone else. Too much turnover but Arshavin is no good for this team.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread when's the first friendly? the Asian tour in July? I'm ready for the new season to start already.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread that's what I thought. we're going to kill the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread With our injuries the 3rd winger is a starter. Downing would not struggle for time at all coming to Arsenal. Not like I think the move will happen but we are definitely in the market for mids. Aguero wants a move to Real so maybe that opens up the Benzema possibility. Hope so. Still gonna have to shatter our transfer record to get him.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Want Samba so bad. Fuck Real if they get Aguero on top of getting Sahin for cheap. 2 of my favorite young players going to these faggots.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread they have the bankroll of the entire country of spain, they can buy more than man city can
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Valdano sacked by Real and they are giving full control of transfers to TSO. That doesn't sound good for getting Benzema. I'd expect him to go for close to 15. I think he's more a 17-20 talent but his star isn't as big as it should be. Falcao rejected an extension with Porto and may be on the market. He'll cost though.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Imagine they'd decline it. Villareal want to get involved as do a few others, not sure if Wengers wants to. Definitely nothing concrete to suggest we'd make a bid
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Well we had put in a like 6 or 7 mil bid, and just raised it to 10 in hopes of getting Valencia away EDIT: Apparently Valcencia is where he wants to go, not Villareal
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread I respect that. You, on the other hand, can still mow down on bushels of cock.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Daily Mail reporting Viera may return to the Emirates as a coach next season.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread yea would be pretty awesome if you ask me. supposedly he wants to stay in England, but doesn't want to play at a lower level. they said Mancini might offer him a similar position at City.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread He better choose us. Benzema hasn't talked to Arsenal yet but he wants regular first team football. If Real sign Aguero I might slightly get my hopes up. Not sure if they'd choose Adebayor over Benzema, rumors of that too, Adebayor played awfully well for them. Still think Benzema is better but Adebayor actually trying is a pretty good player.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread RVP. Going to see his boy in NYC. Guess Henry scored again. He's on a roll. Sorry Landon, TiTi is MVP.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Lol @ this picture. Got former Barca on 1 side. Cesc in the middle. Robin on the other side.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread yeh just the other day i wasn't sure but i'm finally ready to endorse rvp as a legit candidate to be captain along with vermalean
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Stick by what I said earlier. Cesc stays then he'll be captain then RVP vice then TV5 and Nasri next I assume. He leaves then RVP captain. TV5 vice and Nasri and Sagna next. We need some news tmrw.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story/_/id/923226/player-ratings:-arsenal?cc=5901 ratings for all 4 keepers lolmunia: 2 Fab: 4.5 lehman: 5.5 Szczesny 7.5
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread how the fuck did almunia get 2 points? espn just handing out points for free right there
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Fabianski actually played decent last season. Toral and Bellerin sign. Media says Barca is pissed. They say Bellerin is rated higher than Toral.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread We haz Gervinho? I don't mention him a lot but I'm a big fan. Would the signing. Reported Arsenal target Gervinho will announce a decision regarding his future at Ligue 1 champions Lille in June. Along with Real Madrid's Karim Benzema, the 23-year-old tricky forward is understood to be at the top of Emirates Stadium boss Arsene Wenger's list of summer targets. Liverpool and Newcastle are also reported to be interested in Gervinho, but the Ivory Coast international wants to play in the UEFA Champions League next season. He has just one year left on his contract and he will reveal his future plans once this Sunday's conclusion to the French domestic season and an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin on 5th June are out of the way. "After the last match and a match with Ivory Coast, I will go for holidays," Gervinho told L'Equipe. "I have already made my choice. Either I will leave or not, everyone will know it later. It is a personal choice. "The coach wants me to stay. The club will play in the Champions League and he wants to play it with me. I want to play it too, if I have such an opportunity. "But I can play it at Lille or somewhere else, that is no problem. We have had several talks and we know what we told ourselves. There are still a few days to talk before holidays."
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Very meh on gervinho, would prefer hazard/gameiro He will be cheaper though
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread He's more of a mid and replacement for Arshavin likely and a huge upgrade. Think we still get a forward if we sign him. I like Gervinho a lot but yes Hazard and Gamiero are probably a lil better. I like Gervinho's work rate too. Definitely a very good signing imo if it happens. Falcoa's agent said we made a bid. Doubtful I believe him. He'd probably be harder to sign than Benzema.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread One of his teammates at Lille is saying it's 50/50 that he'll stay, so
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Yeah I think Hazard is gone but don't think we get him. Paying 25-30 for him when you can get Gervinho for 10 is just dumb. Just reading between the lines but I think we got Gervinho. The fact skysports has said he is a top Arsenal target and Gervinho saying he knows what he wants to do. Think it will be like the TV5 signing where we gotta wait till he gets back but know what's gonna happen. Hope I'm not wrong. Now go get Samba. Wish there were video on the Barca kid. Couldn't find any.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Yeah...if those teams listed in the article I pasted are true though, I think Liverpool is the only other team where he gets immediate playing time. I just don't see it at Real, Barca or Bayern.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread He'll play at all those places. Special talent. Hell I think Gervinho would play at all those teams. Not start but definitely play. Hazard>Di Maria Hazard is as good as Pedro Hazard> Ribery
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread i liked what ive seen of gervinho, looked pretty good at the world cup but havent seen too much of him at lille
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Very direct player. He'll go at the defense at speed and attack the box. Not gonna play around with the ball and try stupid crap like Arshavin. Not gonna look pretty all the time but he works hard and is very effective. Has a really good attitude from everything I've seen so not too much I can hate on if we do get him. 10-12 mil is a great price for a player like him.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread I meant as a starter and I was talking about being a starter immediately. Bayern already have Robben, Ribery and Muller who can play wide. At Real he won't get much playing time and they don't develop young players, ie; look at the situation with Canales. You think he'd start at Barca right now?
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Di Maria starts for Real and he's young. Yes I think Hazard is better than Di Maria. If Hazard beats out Pedro which is very possible I think he can start or at least rotate. Canales has nowhere near the talent of Hazard.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread You're probably right, I just don't think he fits there was well.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Hey remember when Wenger passed on Di Maria and let him go to Benfica? Arsenal isn't going to sign Hazard. He is waayyyy too expensive now. Ship has sailed.
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Angel Di Maria? You've got to be kidding me if you believe that story. That was a fucking hoax created by a blogger to see how the tabloids in the UK would cite news from practically anywhere on the web as long as it sounds spicy...
Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread Took Pedro a while to crack the lineup with regular minutes and he only became a starter this year. With how Pep does things, Gervinho wouldn't see much time. Villa is usually the only one to come off and that's generally for a defensive replacement. When Bojan comes on it's usually in the 80+ area.
