I'm not going to blame a player who has lost the drive because he gets no support. Cesc fought like hell for 6 years and everybody let him down especially the management. I'm not surprised he couldn't give a shit right now. Nobody at the club gives a shit. It's fairly apparent. Human nature.

Cesc deserves to be at a club that cares. Arsenal does not care about anything except ticket renewals and club level restaurants. I'll always <3 Cesc. One of my favorite Arsenal players of all-time.

That is the most embarrassing opinion I've ever heard from an Arsenal fan.

My frustration is at the right places. You got a contract, you give your all for that team. You play for the badge on the front of the shirt. I'm supposed to feel bad for a guy making over 100,000 pounds a week for playing like shit and being a shitty leader. LMFAO.

If I feel bad for anyone on the team it's Sagna, Song, Nasri, Wilshere, and Van Persie for giving a fuck and playing great and having a shitty captain that couldn't help them win a trophy.

I'm just not going to dump on a player that by the age of 23 has had over 300 appearances for the club and been a complete bad ass for the vast majority of his time here. Maybe you have a short memory, appears you do, but TH14 and PV4 both went out on dumpster fire campaigns where their commitment and leadership were both called into question. That's good company.

As for your examples and their commitment to Arsenal, outside of Sagna it's fucking laughable.

Song? You mean the same Song that every two years instead of pulling out with some fake injury like other stars, goes to Africa for a month and a half during arguably the most dangerous part of the year?

Nasri? Has he even signed an extension yet? Nope. Talk to me when he actually commits his future by putting pen to paper.

Wilshere? Only been here a year, let's see how he mentally reacts to getting his heart torn out year after year for 7 straight campaigns by incompetence on the pitch and in the board room. He'll be playing for Real Madrid when that happens.

RvP? Holy Shit. This one is the worst. The guy has been hardly on the pitch the last 7 years and is the most inconsequential "World Class" striker of all-time. RvP gets hurt, either playing a meaningless friendly for the Dutch or when he is hurt playing for Arsenal, you know who comes back for meaningless Dutch friendlies and plays before he is ready? RvP. Happened on numerous occasions. I don't want to hear about commitment from the training table all-star.

Cesc isn't playing for Spain in the upcoming friendlies either so that right there shows he has more commitment to the club than RvP. He's earned the benefit of the doubt from me.

Cesc could have refused to sign a deal like Pique and pissed off to Barca on the cheap. But he has signed numerous extensions with the club and has played very well except for this season. Cesc has put the club in the position to either sack up and build around him (where he will be fucking happy) or sell him for a lot of money. It isn't Cesc's fault Wenger refused to buy Torres from Atletico or Villa from Valencia when begged to.

Blame Wenger. Same shit happened with PV4 and TH14. There just wasn't a GP involved but the club gave permission for Cesc to go.

    Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread

Sorry I don't have sympathy for a guy that has the same hamstring injury every other month for 4 years and injured every time we need him the most.

Yes RVP has had his problems. He also just went on the best goal scoring run in EPL history. Can't blame him for our defensive problems and getting shit from the midfield. He is 27 and not complaining. Even if he's hurt he always has a positive attitude.

Nasri showed a commitment on the field this season as did Wilshere as has Song the last 3 years. Wilshere called Pearce to get out of U-21s, how's that commitment. The guy bleeds England and did that because Wenger asked him. If Nasri doesn't sign my opinion will change but he should soon.

Which stars have faked injuries for ACN? I don't remember any. Remember players like Toure and others having to do the same thing. Any way Cameroon isn't qualifying so don't have to worry about that. Song plays 85%+ of the games at a very high level, I can't ask much more from him.

I love Cesc as a player when he's healthy and don't blame him for going to Barca. I'd be pissed too with Wenger's bullshit reassurances. Wenger doesn't realize we need 20+ quality players, not 13-14.

I blame Cesc for crying about no trophies and him NEVER being healthy.
Didn't play in the Carling Cup final.
    Didn't play vs Man U.
Played like shit 2nd leg vs Barca.
    Injured for half the season.
I can't blame him for last year but the 2 before when we were deep in tourneys or the EPL season he's been hurt.

You say we don't have the quality for trophies, I say we don't have enough players that give a shit. There is zero reason for why Cesc has the same hamstring injury 20 times over.

I think Clichy cares too but his quality was just poor this year.

I never questioned TH14. He signed on for a rebuilding project and then it was a mutual decision for him to move on.

    A few things here ..
Nasri - First contract renewal here .. Wenger said he'd be tackling it after the season ..

Song- A lot many players went to Africa to play for their COUNTRY ..

Wilshere - He's been here since he was a 9 year old .. since 2011 .. Not his fault for being his first season being a 1st team player, is it?!

RvP - I think he's done plenty for the club .. can't say much about his injuries .. but RvP for Netherlands is a much central figure than Cesc for Spain .. RvP starts all games for Netherlands .. Cesc .. well when Iniesta needs a breather..

Cesc -- Well Barca didn't give 2 shits about Cesc until 2 years ago.. I am no way discounting his contribution to the club .. He's been immense .. However, he's been out injured enough for the past 2 years and never ever come out flat out denying that he won't be leaving Arsenal .. Wenger was the only one saying so and he was the reason Cesc stayed for one more season ..

And about buying Torres & Villa .. well, how many clubs could have afforded them?! Torres hasn't really done as much as you're billing him up for .. Liverpool were laughing their way to the bank for getting 50 mill from Chelsea .. Villa was sold for 37 million pounds .. a diminutive striker was a risky endeavor for any club.. He fit Barca's style of play and has done pretty decent there but no way would have been a shoe-in or a success at Arsenal ..

Blame Wenger for not solidifying the back line but Fabregas deserves some blame as well .. The best we've played this season was when Cesc was out injured and Nasri was playing in the middle ..

    Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread

So you are going to bash Cesc and than praise RvP? Dumb as fuck. Wow, Rvp showed for half a season what Arsenal have been waiting 7 years for. RvP has only scored 20 total goals in his career twice. You can't have that from your lead striker. That's pathetic. Darren fucking Bent has done that the last two seasons. Again, Cesc, by 23, has over 300 appearances. That is unprecedented. So yes, he is a footballer that gets injured but you can't say that he is even remotely similar to RvP in that regard.

    .

Again, look at Cesc's body of work. Do you remember TH14 sitting out the last 4 months of the year with a fake injury before the move to Barca? I do. Don't see you slagging him off. Again, this conversation goes beyond the scope of a singular season. Nasri could have signed that contract but now has put Arsenal in a very tough spot.

Happens all the time at the bigger clubs. Chelsea were famous for it a few ACN back. That's one of the reasons why Arsenal sold Kolo.

    Okay.

    Basically TH14 2006 season redux.

Overpaid prances that don't give a shit about losing. Cesc cares, which is why he is leaving. It's the people that surround him that don't give a shit and Cesc has given up trying to convince them otherwise. I don't think the quality is there either anymore. The squad is overrated and needs to be overhauled.

    Sell him.

What do you think Cesc signed on for? This is still the same rebuilding project except with less quality.

    Re: Arsenal 2011/2012 Season Thread

I'm not convinced Nasri wants to re-sign.

Sure, but I don't recall Cesc missing any games and than playing for Spain like RvP either.

Again, talk to me after 6 more senior years without a trophy. He still has that hunger, apathy and acceptance hasn't crept in yet.

Not a fair comparison. Look at the Netherlands options and than look at Spain's. Pretty sure Cesc played a rather large role and has won the Euro's and WC.

Not true. Barca has wanted Cesc back for a while now. Just hasn't been election based.

Look at the reason why. Cesc wants to win and Arsenal has fake ambition. You make signings and Cesc stays. Simple as that. He's not the first superstar to ask for signings and than leave when Wenger fucks off about it.

Arsenal could have purchased Torres for less than 25 million before he went to Pool and passed. I'm talking about when FT9 was at Atletico, not paying 50 for one player. Same with Villa at Valencia, could have had him for the same price 4 years ago when Cesc told Wenger to sign him.

Think just signing one of them changes the game for Arsenal the last half decade?

I agree Cesc was not good this year, but he was fucking brilliant for 6 years before that. And I'm not going to slag TH14 for his dumpy last year, and I'm not going to slag PV4 for his shit last campaign either. It happens but all three are club legends whose talents deserve to win trophies.

The reality is the squad was so dumpy that even a good Cesc probably wouldn't have made a difference. Carling Cup doesn't count since it doesn't count for Spurs either.

I don't remember TH14's fake injury at all. I honestly can't remember much about that year. There is no chance in hell we had more talent then than now. Henry would have rallied the team around the CC debacle, Cesc gave up.

Yes I know these are excuses but if Cesc plays and/or TV5 was healthy at all this year we win something.

Squad overhaul. No. Bench overhaul. Yes.

A new starter caliber center half. yes
A new starting left back. Maybe but there aren't a ton out there I can think of. If Inter wanna give us 10 mil for Clichy so we can buy someone I say do it. Can't get much worse than Clichy.

Keep Koscielny, Djourou, and Chamakh for the bench. Otherwise get rid of everyone else and replace them as far as I'm concerned. It really can't get much worse.

Coquelin and Lansbury are good but these are players that should be counted on as players 21-22 or so not 14-15 and that has been Wenger's problem.

I'm happy with the starting lineup for the most part. We need 5-6 players honestly and think Wenger realizes it for once or he realizes we need at least 4.

Cesc leaves we gotta replace him or upgrade other areas. It's a new owner and Wenger's last chance, we will spend some money.

HA, now I know you are a newbie.

Here are the results for Arsenal after losing to Chelsea 2-1 in the Carling Cup Final, a match where TH14 didn't play.

    Loss to Blackburn
    Beat Reading
Draw to PSV AT HOME (Knocked out CL)
    Beat Aston Villa
    Loss to Everton
    Loss to Liverpool
Loss to West Ham at HOME

Arsenal were knocked out of the FA Cup right before the CC Final. And were knocked out of every competition within two weeks of losing to Chelsea.

    Take a seat son.

Sounds like something I'd like to forget.

And I guarantee I watched every game.

We played a U21 team vs Chelsea and were up 1-0 before Drogba destroyed us again IIRC. Think the same think happened in FA Semis the next year.

Wenger wouldn't have played TH14 in that game even if he were healthy.

I'm not sure what point you just proved. Puzzled by that.

    Different set of circumstances completely.

I don't believe we were near the top of the league at that time.

The CC loss wasn't an epic disaster like this year. 6 years since a trophy and the first team lost to B'Ham at Wembley.

The loss 4 years ago was a U21 squad and many were happy after that performance.

I'll give you a slight win but Arsenal weren't winning anything that year. This year with a healthy and confident Cesc we win at least the CC and have a shot at league and FA Cup.

I wasn't too fond of Henry as a captain ..neither am I fond of Fabregas as a captain .. They were both ok .. After Viera, there's hardly been a leader as a captain ... someone who could rally the troops .. kick some ass on both sides and get everybody fired up .. Henry & Fabregas are brilliant players in their own sense .. Ever since Viera was the captain, Wenger gave the captaincy to someone who he thought would have left the club and upon getting the captaincy, would stay back ..

TV5 would have been a badass captain this year had he not been injured but he should be ready to go all next year, Cesc has been great for us but he's gotta go, he is our torres, we need to get the most we can for him and fix our weak spots(FUCKING DEFENSE) and we should be ok

The mirror nailed the Wilshere U21 story. See how much of this comes true.

Arsenal's Andrey Arshavin is a cut-price £7million target for his former club Zenit St Petersburg.

Arsene Wenger is prepared to listen to offers for the Russian midfielder, but Arsenal may be reluctant to take such a big drop on a player signed for £12m just two years ago.

Arshavin, who turns 30 next week, is the biggest name in an expected summer clear-out at the club, with Nicklas Bendtner, Denilson, Abou Diaby, Carlos Vela, Emmanuel Eboue and Manuel Almunia also set to go. Gael Clichy will be sold too, unless he signs a new deal.

Udinese are also watching developments on Arshavin, while Sevilla, Roma and Wolfsburg are keen on Denilson who admitted: “The next few weeks will be decisive for my future.”

Real Madrid like Bacary Sagna, but Arsenal do not want to sell their right-back, who was in the Professional Footballers’ Association team of the season.

Arsenal expect to be busy with the arrivals of senior players and a raft of youngsters to boost their reserves.

Blackburn defender Chris Samba is the rugged, tough defender that fits the bill to give Wenger some more muscle in defence - they also like Rovers’ defender-cum-midfielder Phil Jones.

Carl Jenkinson, Southampton duo Alex Chamberlain and Luke Shaw and Barcelona youngsters Jon Toral and Hector Bellerin are set to come in.

Carl is a six foot one inch right back, who can also play in central defence or as a left back. Noted for his stylish and composed play, the London-born prospect has represented both England and Finland at international level. Arsenal and Charlton have agreed a compensation package for fullback Carl Jenkinson.
The 19-year-old Finland U-19 international will sign a 5 year deal, with Arsenal paying Charlton up to £2million in compensation under Premier League rules as the player is under 24.
As first revealed on wearethenorthbank.com in March, Arsenal won the race to sign Jenkinson with Manchester United and Chelsea also eager to sign the young fullback.
Arsene Wenger will run the rule over Jenkinson on Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Asia to determine if he is ready to be Bacary Sagna’s understudy or if he would benefit further from a spell on loan.
Jenkinson, a boyhood Gooner, will be the first signing of the summer for Arsenal with his arrival set to be announced prior to the transfer window reopening in June.

Another Rumor: Steward Downing to replace Andrei Arshavin

A senior Arsenal scout watched Downing put in a fine performance in the 1-0 win over Liverpool on Sunday and it looks likely that Arsenal will enter the race for the England international to bolster their squad for next season.
Wenger may also be actively searching for replacements for Andriy Arshavin – tipped to be sold after another inconsistent season – or Samir Nasri who is yet to sign a contract extension.
Downing has two years left on his current contract, with Liverpool also in the hunt to sign the ex-Middlesbrough winger.
The 26-year-old has scored eight goals this season and been one of Villa’s top performers during a difficult season.
Villa will be anxious to tie up a new contract for Downing or sell him on in order to avoid the situation that they face with Ashley Young who has only one year remaining on his contract and looks likely to depart for a reduced fee to avoid him leaving on a Bosman next summer.

Lol. Of course Cesc is still at Arsenal. Barcelona are training at the facility.

Arsene Wenger has dropped a major hint that he is ready to make a spectacular move for Karim Benzema.

Wenger says a move for Real Madrid's French striker "doesn't seem impossible" even if it would represent a big change in transfer policy for the Arsenal manager.

Wenger ready to clear the decks in anticipation of busy summer transfer window

Benzema, 23, may be available this summer as Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho looks to shake-up his squad to fund a move for Manchester City's Carlos Tevez.

Wenger said: "Viewed from the outside, it doesn't seem impossible today. He's a player that I like.

"I think he's intelligent in his movement, I think he is capable of combining well and making a difference, and of doing individual moves as well. So, for me he's a player who's at the top level in the world."

Wenger has insisted he will be active in the transfer window this summer but has already warned he will shy away from "£50m signings" and Arsenal would have to shatter their transfer record and pay around £20m for Benzema.

But that sort of calibre of signing would please the Arsenal fans who are desperate for Wenger to break with his philosophy and spend big. Lorient's French international Kevin Gameiro is also on Wenger's list of potential strikers.

would love to get benzema, going to real was a bad idea for him (just like it was for sahin) but he would be perfect at arsenal.

Lol wut. How the fuck didn't Henry make even the sub's bench. Win 2 titles and go undefeated and the only player we got on team of the decade is Ashley Cole. How on earth do you put Beckham over Henry. Beckham left in 03.

Edwin van der Sar (Fulham and Manchester United); Gary Neville (Manchester United), Nemanja Vidic (Manchester United), John Terry (Chelsea), Ashley Cole (Arsenal and Chelsea); Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United), Paul Scholes (Manchester United), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Ryan Giggs (Manchester United); Alan Shearer (Newcastle United), Didier Drogba (Chelsea).

Substitutes: Petr Cech (Chelsea), David Beckham (Manchester United), Patrice Evra (Manchester United), Rio Ferdinand (West Ham, Leeds and Manchester United), Wayne Rooney (Everton and Manchester United).

Gunners is mad that his once favorite player has wanted to leave Arsenal every summer. So, he takes out his frustration on the best player they have had since the undefeated days.

Also mad that he loves Barcelona so much he is our 12th man every time they square up against us :loldog:

Either this stretch by RVP or Cesc' start to the 2009 season was the best we've had. Wouldn't mind keeping Cesc 1 more year just for that form with a full summer off. 15 goals and 14 assists in 28 appearances is just unheard of for a mid.

RVP has I think 19 goals in his last 19 EPL games and think I read 27-28 in his last 30. Just absurd.

Eat a dick soulfag. We're letting you use our facilities so show some respect you lil punk.

This move by Gameiro is just so nasty. Not quite Bergkamp but about as genius as you can get. If we don't get Benzema or Gameiro I will be somewhat upset.
