If I understand this correctly, I agree with her. If you were born a male and became female later on, I don’t think you should be allowed to compete in female events. The responses to the tweet have me a bit confused. Caitlyn was born a male and compete in male events.
Trans girls have been competing against cis girls in California since 2014. Show me a widespread problem in that timeframe.
feel like you might peruse this thread or the broader writing about the issue moral panics are definitely easy pickings tho
Yeah I haven’t done any reading on the subject. Has this been happening and there’s no discernible advantage? Also, I’m admittedly oblivious to all the terms in this arena.
you should start by telling his condescending ass to fuck off. You can decide for yourself what to read
You're condescending because you're suggesting someone who admittedly knows little about a topic learn more!
Been a while since I was arguing in this thread, but someone posted some studies that had been done and I’m pretty sure they showed an advantage for the trans girls even after they stopped taking testosterone. I think we left the discussion at a point where I’m super weird for really caring about the integrity and fairness of high school athletic competitions, while other people don’t value the competition that highly and want to make life easier for the trans girls who are already going through the ordeal of being trans in our society. I still don’t think we’ve found the right answer, and hopefully at some point we can have fair competitions and happy trans girls.
it’s quite simple. The societal advantages for letting trans kids compete in the division with whatever gender they identify with far outweighs the disadvantages.
My answer is I want equal rights as long as test levels are in a certain range IOC/WADA answer, any drug to change test levels will get you an extreme ban Just the way it is
Something's got to be done about these trans females winning female sporting events. Oh wait actually nothing needs to be done? Oh nevertheless
The more I think about it the more I feel like you just cross the bridge of it being an issue if it ever happens. As of yet no trans woman has dominated women's sports. If it ever happens it'll warrant a discussion. If it ever does happen that discussion will be brutal because of the plethora of bad faith arguments from chuds. Hoping we never have to see it.
Youth sports is obviously a big deal in this country and beer dads and wine moms flip out over everything associated with it so I guess it shouldn’t be that surprising but once again it isn’t anyone’s business how a person chooses to identify.
Realistically how likely is it that an athletic male who likes playing sports becomes a trans woman? Obviously Caitlyn Jenner comes to mind but it really has to be pretty rare to the point of being not worth talking about. Trans people are rare in general and I imagine even more rare in that particular social group.
The list of males who are fast enough to compete at world class levels with women and are interested in going through gender transition therapy is prob extremely short or non-existent.
Yeah I just did a quick google search and found a couple articles saying trans girl retain a competitive edge even a year or two after they stop hormone therapy. On the other hand, having trans girls compete in men's events isn't the answer. Who knows.
Martina’s old coach, Renee Richards is the only one i’m aware of. she reached the top 20 in women’s tennis at age 45. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renée_Richards
some elite posters voted for this option and then also ashy larry did as well lol put it on the board that’s a kill shot
the group chat is saying Tobias changed his vote from “yucky” in order to align himself with the elite posters. real despicable stuff!
Nope - he is a dick and shows it in the video. I do wonder why Canada have gone against the World Rugby authorities on this after they did several years of research on the topic though. Someone will be held liable eventually.
Hey look, more evidence that trans women don’t have an unfair advantage. This time according to an IOC commissioned study:
Yeah, I read about that one. Like 20 heavier, less athletic trans males that had been on hormones for a year and 20 more athletic females that scored better in some areas. I don't think this has much to say about serious competitive sport. It does add a solid data point to my hypothesis that some girls are tougher than some boys, which I developed when I was 4 and Merri Shannon Dunn could hang longer on the monkey bars. "Dr Tucker explained that the pool of transgender women displayed V02max (the maximum level of oxygen a body can use during exercise) put them in a “mid-range of untrained or moderately trained adults”, whereas the group of females were in “a significantly higher category of training status”. “One of those groups would be described as overweight, and the other athletic,” Dr Tucker added. “The transgender women have a body fat percentage of 31.6 per cent, the females 26.6 per cent. “These demographic characteristics should already make us pause – these groups may not be comparable for reasons that really matter. We have a group of females who are on the higher end of cardiovascular capacity along the female spectrum, and there is a group of transgender women in the middle of that range, even the lower side of it. One group is overweight, the other is not. “I would not be comparing these groups with any expectation that the comparison is like for like. The females are fit and well trained, and the transgender women are well below the same standard. Their physiological capacity suggests untrained.” Professor Yannis Pitsiladis, who led the research and who sits on the IOC’s medical and scientific commission, said that such discrepancies should prevent anyone viewing the two groups as synonymous when addressing the issue of gender inclusion."
This poll that started this thread is insane. Shows why the gop uses it as a core issue (in addition to their mission to always attack the most vulnerable among us).
