Most of that is inaccurate. 15.3% includes Medicare and let’s assume you make the max taxable amount starting this year. That is 25704 a year. At 6% interest the total after 40 years is 3.9MM based on 6% interest. That is historically in line but taking into account the last 16 years may be aggressive. Then take the average person does not pay the max and again no where near 6.7MM they are stating and definitely not off 800K total contribution. Max payout is 4800 a month which would take 17 years to make up the amount put in. Finally this does not take into account Medicare which is also covered in the total. Yes social security has issues. No privatization will not be better. No the esteemed senator from Bama would not have 6.7MM based on his contributions.
