I liked how Gandolfini played Tony when Tony realized Ritchie was dead and one of his biggest problems was conveniently eliminated without himself having to do it. I think he also simultaneously realized that Janice would need to get out of town, making it double sweet.
S3E2 this scene with Tony and his mom discussing the airline tickets feels like it’s being shot weird for some reason

Okay that explains it. I just went back and watched it again and it’s so damn weird. It randomly flashes to the Russian gal walking like five or six times while Tony and his mom are mid conversation. He walks into the house and she says “well look who finally calls” lol. Weird decision to include this scene but I’m sure it was a tough one to handle given the circumstances.
The show was supposed to be about David Chase‘s mom, with Olivia being her. The death turned things upside down.
Season 3 was largely supposed to center around the feds building a case against Tony using his mother, culminating with her testifying against him I think. The actress who played Livia died and they had to rework everything.
Really weird timing seeing Tony take a call while meeting w Melfi and then he says “keep me posted on Duke/Wake Forest.” edit: just realized this post isn’t going to make much sense after the fact. WF upset Duke today.
