I'm on Verizon right now. The plans for T-Mobile compared to Verizon were a bit cheaper, and it would allow me to get the Galaxy S2
if you care about features and future features/optimizations, the best phone is the galaxy nexus on verizon, if you are concerned about battery life, then the razr maxx if you are a fan of the galaxy SII, then you are screwed as everyone but verizon has it. im going ot go out on a limb and speak for the rest of the android community that the galaxy nexus is the best android phone on the market right now and will be for at least a few more months. /purist.
oh much memory does it have? i have uscellular and on their specs of it it just says 16GB internal, but doesn't mention anything about SD card storage.
oh, so it doesn't come with one? weak. i may just wait until the galaxy s aviator comes out. it's 4g lte
disclaimer: I have an 1800 mah battery as opposed to stock 1500 battery, and those periods of non use are overnight, when I switched to airplane mode. It will probably die around 2 hours short of 4 days.
Google really sold out when they got rid of the Just In section. Small developers lived off of those downloads. Now the only way to get downloads on the market is to already have 10k+ downloads. Pretty disappointing, once I start my job I'll be buying an old iphone just to develop on. I created that game for a class project so it's not like I really care about downloads, but for a pretty legit game to have 15 downloads shows how fucked the market has become.
You are deciding on a phone based on whether it comes with a card which you can buy for $14? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231570
Still having trouble with limited connectivity with Wifi Tether. I have the 3.1-beta11 version. Is that still the latest? I found one apk that is v3_1-pre110 but don't know if that's an earlier or later version. Found an app called Wifi Hotspot & USB tether that has a lite version to test and see if it works on your phone, then a pro for $15. The lite seemed to work pretty well but wanted to check with you wizards before dropping the money on the pro version.
So how close does everyone think the GSIII is? I keep seeing rumors that it might get announced in a few weeks here and if so I'd definitely be willing to wait.
since being banned from the iPad thread, all i have to say is... VIVA DROID! Apple fans want to be Sandusky'd by Steve Job's corpse!
Youtube app says it isn't installed when I look at the list of my apps on the marketplace. When I try and update it says Package file was not signed correctly. Uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again. The app still works, so I should probably just ignore it but error messages piss me off. Any recommended apps or ways to easily delete youtube and download it again?
have this issue a lot (usually it seems like its due to the fact that I purchased an app in either Play or Amazon and the other is trying to update the app.) very very annoying
Tried that but youtube doesn't show up in my downloaded apps, only in my ALL apps column. Tried clearing cache and clearing all data but that didn't do anything and gave me the same error.
if you didn't have the second problem about package signed incorreclty, then that method should have worked. what phone/rom/software?
since i rooted a long time ago, i had missed out on new radio/kernal/pri etc. just flashed to the newest. much faster 3g. HTC ONE X on sprint announcement tomorrow or the next day. check out evo thread for details.
put 2 different ICS builds on my phone. laggy and buggy. restored my previous nandroid within 20 minutes. Google Glasses http://www.droid-life.com/2012/04/0...idLife+(droid+life)&utm_content=Google+Reader
Do not like the laggy ICS builds, but Project Glass looks great. I wonder how far out a usable version will be.

Bought the Galaxy Nexus last week along with the 2150mah extended battery. I unplug it at 7am and it makes it until about 4pm. ouch Also just saw that the new Galaxy is being revealed on May 3rd. I may return the Galaxy Nexus for now. http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/16/samsung-will-unveil-the-next-galaxy-phone-may-3rd-in-london/
Same phone, same battery, bought mine two weeks ago, and I am at 43% remaining after 31 hours of discharging. I was on WiFi for most of that duration and use Juice Defender, but my phone has never discharged that quickly unless I am WiFi tethering or constantly DL'ing on 4G.
Guess part of mine could be due to the fact that I live in a bad service area. Usually 1 bar at the most. I stay on wifi at work and home. Do you keep LTE off or on?
I keep LTE off generally unless I know I want to up my speed or I if I am WiFi tethering. I also live in a pretty good service area, so I have had a strong signal for the previously mentioned time frame as well.
turn your radios off unless you are using them, it would be like leaving your car on in the garage. add the toggle widget to your homescreen and you will be fine. ive posted that i get good battery before (2-3 days on evo4g) by leaving my radios off, and turning down/off all my sync settings. also sprint officialy set date for Galaxy Nexus, and those who buy will get $50 in Google wallet credit.
Bad service will drain a battery faster than anything else regardless of whether you're using LTE or not.
I was hoping to have an app turn Airplane mode on and off automatically every night, say 2AM and 6AM respectively.
I put on charger at night, so no need to be in airplane mode. in reference to radios, I rarely go into airplane mode, normally just leave 3g/4g off and when i leave house, turn wifi off too. then if i need data when im away, ill turn on whatever network i need, then when im done, hit the toggle switch back off. android comes with 3g/4g/wif/bluetooth/airplane/etc widgets built in. (maybe under widgets>settings i think) ive never used tasker, but have heard great things about it.
dont want the gnex, but want that $50 in Google wallet credit. maybe activate on launch day, then return inside 14 days. someone in my family will want it, so maybe could switch to their line and share with them.
Your comments about not going into airplane mode above do not mesh with what is said below. I am familiar with the toggles; I just prefer some automated features as I am likely to wake up and not turn radios on for half the day. I recommend Elixir 2 for their toggles. It has other nice features in it as well like CPU usage and battery temp all in one area. And when you say you "put it on charger at night" is that a setting or are you charging your phone? I am not trying hassle you; I am just curious how you are able to get 3 days plus out of one charge like it looks like you mentioned at one point and refenced in the picture I spoiler'ed above from one of your posts (although I am probably just interpreting the picture incorrectly). That is quite impressive, and something I would like to mimic if possible.
i only used airplane mode on a couple of occasions to max out, where i reached 4 days. the other 99% of the time i only reach 2-3 days on normal use.
Anyone want to help me out rooting a droid bionic? Also I'm on a mac. I really have no idea what I'm doing, I just need the wireless tether. Fellow Husker Bo Bridges?
Do you need tether or specifically wireless tether? If it's for internet on your comp, you can download Wifi Hotspot & USB Tether Pro. Costs a little but works slick and doesn't need root to access. DL the free version to make sure you can get it to work, then get the pro. I've had trouble with numerous others and finally bought this and it's been great. Will save you a ton of time figuring out how to root if that's all you're going to use it for. Also you can use the usb for a faster connection instead of wifi all the time.
This will avoid the ridiculous tether charge from US Cellular? I rooted my last phone for free tether. BTW, just picked up Galaxy S Aviator. 4G LTE is the tits.
