Interesting. Uninstall cpu tuner, reboot your phone, and see if the battery keeps draining at that rate. I've found that sometimes phones drain much faster from 100% to 90% than normal.
rdoanecu Since yesterday my phone won't charge at all. It's so fucking weird. The computer no longer recognizes it when plugged in and the wall charger doesn't work either. It will cut on if the battery is charged, but I can't do shit until I find a battery charging dock.
I've heard about certain kernels having a charging bug, but honestly this seems like a hardware problem. Have you installed a new kernel recently? Do you have the extended battery yet? If not, I'd just go ahead and buy one from Verizon (it's totally worth it) and boot your phone up with that.
I had a feeling this might be the culprit. I installed that "lean kernel" and have been running great until yesterday morning. I had about 10% battery left when I realized it wasn't charging anymore. The indicator shows the lightning bolt and acts like it's charging, but it doesn't at all.
and yes....I do have the extended battery already. I ordered a battery charger from Amazon.com this morning and it comes with two extra 1900 mAh batteries.
Get the app addons detector. It scans all your apps to find which ones are accessing other things like the internet to pull ads onto your phone and show them as notifications.
Did you install the stable or experimental version? For whatever it's worth I've been running the experimental version of Leankernel for a couple of weeks now and never ran into this issue. That still doesn't mean it's not the problem. Check the Leankernel thread to see if other people are having this issue.
Yep. I was playing some bullshit Golf HD game when the extended battery died so I switched to my stock battery. I quit playing when the 2nd battery was at about 20% and put it on the charger only to come back a couple of hours later and find out the phone wasn't charging at all.
I was thinking you might be able to boot to the bootloader without a battery in while it was connected to your computer but I don't think you can. Worth a try I guess? What version of the Leankernel did you choose? Some people were reporting charging errors earlier on but not so much anymore. Did you call your local Verizon store? They might have your external battery charger if you need it right away.
I used the exact one(http://rootzwiki.com/topic/13092-ke...150-1812/page__st__250__p__331058#entry331058) you posted in the Verizon thread and have not had a single problem with it since the day I installed it until yesterday morning.
I have not called my local Verizon store, but I will. Edit....Just called the store right near my house and they have one left. Picking it up at lunch time.
That's version 1.1.1exp3. It is up to 1.5.0exp1 now. Check the link in the OP: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/13092-kernel-leankernel-minimalistic-kernel-150-1812/ Go ahead and flash it whenever you get your Nexus back to life. He updates the kernel about every other day for whatever it's worth. Sorry that happened to you bro .
Nothing to be sorry about. It's not your fault.....and I will update the kernel when I get that battery charged.
LG annoucned the Spectrum 4G this morning at CES. Launching January 19th. 4.5 inch 720p IPS display with Gorilla Glass, 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 8-megapixel rear camera, and 1GB of RAM. Exclusive to Verizon. Also comes with Android 2.3, what a joke. I wouldn't buy a phone without Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) with someone else's money, much less my own. http://www.theverge.com/2012/1/9/2693791/lg-spectrum-4g-lte-phone-verizon-official
so i went back into my phone and looked at the processes being run. i had multiple google maps processes, multiple "tasks" processes, multiple "scorecenter" processes and a few others that were running when they shouldn't have been. closed those and the phone has now been at 88% for the last 2 hours. would that be something wrong with the rom/kernel i'm running (because isn't android supposed to kill those processes on its own)? regardless, i'm gonna play around with this whole rooted-ness over the next week. as i said earlier, i rooted it friday night but then went down to indy saturday and have had no time to really explore what i've done. what rom would you guys recommend? i'm on an incredible 2 fwiw
I have the mytouch 3g slide, cause fuck touchscreen ONLY, that's why. I'm only running froyo though I also have Astro File Manager and feel I don't know best to use it..I got it with the intention of keeping files neat and organized and limiting the amount of shit saved to the tiny ass phone memory. Couldn't even use the 8 gig SD card till I got froyo on there..So I am behind but I am trying. I still don't see a need to root but if I can get this thing running more efficiently and saving battery life i'm all for that.
rdoanecu You may be right about it being a hardware issue. I just got back from the Verizon store with the battery charging dock. I Clockwork recovered an old ROM and kernel I was using before I changed kernels and I'm still having the problem with charging. If I open up Settings>Battery while the phone is charging it tells me that the phone is discharging. I guess I'll have to see about getting a replacement.
:dap: I only found one app that that used "push notification" advertising. I'm guessing that was the one that showed up in the notifications. Thanks man.
ATT just announced a bunch of new 4g LTE android phones at CES http://www.androidcentral.com/att-a...rtphones-lte?utm_source=ac&utm_medium=twitter
Those all look shitty except for maybe the Galaxy S II. Why can't we (at&t users) get a nexus phone on contract??
You will be able to soon: http://www.androidcentral.com/another-galaxy-nexus-fcc-points-toward-possible-proper-att-love
Yeah that was a little extreme to be a kernel issue. Do you have have the stock images (before re-locking the bootloader) to flash back? If not here is the link: http://groups.google.com/group/android-building/browse_thread/thread/9a944a4dbc8d23c5?pli=1
I'm curious to hear from those Transformer Prime owners. Does the introduction of the new Transformer Prime (the TF700T) so soon after original bother you all at all? The new one comes with a better screen (1920x1200 resolution) and a redesigned rear cover for better Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth. http://www.theverge.com/2012/1/9/2694441/asus-transformer-prime-tf700t-hands-on
I am glad to have the larger screen the only thing I'm mad about would be the improved wifi, that being said I havent had any problems with my current wifi, just wish it was a little stronger. The GPS works fine as long as there is a data connection and I can ever really think of a time when I would use GPS without data, and worst case scenario I can just tether it to my phone if I need be.
Getting ITT. Still rocking the original Galaxy S. Waiting on the 4g stuff to roll out from US Cellular.
anyone have any knowledge on rooting the xoom? stuck at the 1st step (putting CWM Recovery on) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278214 (its actually the "before you start" on this method)
yeah not sure what that is. I put Rom manager on, but cant "flash CWM recovery" or "reboot into recovery" via rom manager once i get started I should be fine...
CWM = Clockwork Mod Recovery You need to start here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074979
thanks. so put that on micro SD, reboot into stock recovery, install update from sd card (being that file i just downloaded) and then reboot?
@Det. Frank Bullitt Actually....use this link(updated in last post) and I should be able to help if you get stuck. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074979
thanks exactly what i was trying to do and got stuck idk what fastboot/adb is. i think its via text/command style input via a comp, but ive never done. I assumed method one would be easier (downloaded recovery zip already) but im lost at "adb reboot recovery" or any other method
no, i have the 3.2.1 sdk (what the xoom is) on my computer and have used it to take screenshots before though.
SDK is the software development kit and should have the adb and fastboot exe's in a folder called tools.
You only need to clear both caches before flashing an updated kernel right? Only need to wipe if you are flashing a rom?
Speaking of the Transformer Prime, Nvidia just announced at CES that ICS will be available today. http://www.theverge.com/2012/1/9/2695218/ics-will-be-available-for-transformer-prime-today
Just updated to the newest minimalistic kernel. Thanks for keeping us updated rdoanecu. I probably won't be flashing many more roms unless something is just unbelievable because I hate taking the time setting all my stuff up the way I want it. Kernels and radios on the other hand are nice to have updated and for guys like me who won't spend that much time on the message boards, I appreciate you guys that post them in this thread. How often do they update the radios?
A GOOD Android tablet is coming out and it's priced at $249 http://www.androidcentral.com/nvidi...rmer-prime-tegra-3-and-ice-cream-sandwich-249
No problem, glad to help keep yall's phones running the latest stuff. Radio's are slowest to be updated compared to kernels and roms. I'd say about ever couple of months or so.
