Thanks for the reminder of everything! There's been so much going on in these books that it's hard to keep up. So I downloaded Babylon Ashes in an .epub and converted to .mobi but the formatting is all kinds of messed up. Most pages have 1-2 sentences max. Is yours the same way?
Yeah I didnt remember shit from Nemesis Games and just re-read it before babylon's ashes. The copy I got was fine. Check the epub version. Maybe it's something in the conversion ?
Not blackfish but the first 40ish % was boring af to me. Enjoyed the rest Spoiler fucking Holden is such a bitch for not taking out Marco when he had the chance
Spoiler Do we think he's actually vaporized, or whatever? Or is that part of transporting through the gate
Do they plan on wrapping up this series anytime soon or are they just going to keep churning out books? I've really enjoyed it for the most part but would like an ending.
9 book series. Are you guys watching the TV show? Theyre really doing well by the books, which isn't all that surprising considering the authors are on the writing team.
Question on the novellas/short stories: Best to read them in publication order? I see that the actual designation (The Expanse #0.5 or #0.2 or whatever) isn't always linear, but I found where Daniel Abraham still suggests reading them in publication order. Wanted to check with those who have read them to see if they agree/disagree.
Yeah read them in publication order. Most of them are backstories that make a lot of nods to the main plot. Probably wouldn't pick them up if you don't read them in publication order
Really enjoying LW so far. The pace has surprised me. I've seen the first season of the show twice so I already know a lot of the plot points, but even so, it's hard to make this thick of a book read quickly. I was curious about how obvious the style differences between the two writers would be. So far, I haven't noticed much difference. My guess is that they do a ton of peer editing to make it more seamless.
Yeah. I cant really tell the difference. I know they split up the different POVs so each writer writes fro the same POV throughout the book. I would never know that just by reading. Hell - if I didnt know James SA Corey was just a pen name, I could have been convinced it was just one dude.
Finished Abbadon's Gate, I enjoyed it. There were a lot of frustrating moments, but none attributable to bad writing or anything. I thought it might've ended a little abruptly, and a bit unsatisfying in the vengeance column. Though I think the reason for that might be Anna's prominent arguments for forgiveness throughout the book. I bought the first three books in a bundle, now I gotta buy the rest because I'm completely hooked.
I finished Gods of Risk over lunch. I really enjoyed most of it but I thought it ended pretty abruptly. Spoiler I'm wondering if we see Bobbie's nephew pop up again later on. A brilliant biochemist seems like someone who could come in handy later on in these books.
I'm glad I read them all but Gods of Risk & The Vital Abyss were my least favorite of the novellas The Churn was my favorite with Drive and The Butcher of Anderson Station close behind
I thought they wrote the angsty teenager angle pretty well. But I definitely liked The Butcher of Anderson Station more
Welp, I just read The Churn. Then promptly realized that I was supposed to read that after Abaddon's Gate. Whoops. Still enjoyed it.
I dont think it spoils anything really, but the Amos backgroud you get in The Churn really adds to Nemesis Games
Yeah that was my chief concern. I didn't think anything it discussed was that revolutionary but you never really know. I'm assuming Drive is about Epstein. I should be able to knock that one out tomorrow.
Correct. Did you watch the show? They did a quick little side piece about Epstien that was basically Drive
Got my Cibola Burn book in the mail today. The OCD in me can't stand the change in design for the spine of the book.
Strange Dogs (Novella) Spoiler At first I was bummed it didnt involve any of our characters. The back stories the novellas give to our main crew have been pretty dope. After I got over that, I loved this story. The implications it sets up are pretty big. I think there's a slippery slope though. Hope this doesnt turn into a space zombie shit story. James SA Corey have more than earned benefit of the doubt so more than anything IM just excited for the next novel.
I'm halfway through "Nemesis Games", those pinche Belter coyos . Why is the OPA so fucking insufferable?
Spoiler I really enjoyed it too but hope we get some answers in a book to come. Wtf are the dogs/stick moons? What happens to Cara & Xan?
After a brief break, I'm starting Nemesis Games. I plan on reading on until I'm fully caught up. Should work well with the expected publication date for #7.
I started Persepolis Rising a couple days ago Spoiler I definitely didn't expect it to be set a couple decades later. Ballsy move
Finish Persepolis Rising Spoiler Wish I had refreshed myself a little more, seemed like I had forgotten a lot since I read Babylon's Ashes. I didn't really remember Duarte or Drummer and I just realized I never read Strange Dogs. The doctor that is experimenting on Duarte is the guy from The Vital Abyss right? Other than that I loved it. Thought it really put the series in the right direction after so much Free Navy shit. Cannot wait for the next one
Anyone have an epub/mobi of Persepolis Rising? And why I'm begging also need to get Iron Gold if you have that too. TIA
