Jon and Dany will become a thing and Sansa gets left out in the cold. Without Dany she at least has Jon's ear but she loses that once Dany comes into play. Possibly
Absolutely think Littlefinger knows who Jon is and it'll be a huge confrontation down the line. Specifically after it results in Sansa's death.
Sort of piggybacking off this, Howland Reed has to be around next season to actually substantiate the claim, right? Otherwise who's going to believe Bran?
It's ok fam every post in here has an implicit "possibly" attached at the bottom even if you don't type it.
So how far is the narrow sea to Westeros? I know the show takes liberties with travel times, but how long should it take Dany & Co. to get to Westeros? I assume they're sailing straight for Kings Landing?
I don't think Loras has any brothers in the show. In the books, he has two older brothers, one of whom dances with Sansa and tells her Tyrion would make a better husband. Loras appears to be the heir to Highgarden in the show (as evidenced by him renouncing that right in last episode). That would mean he is the eldest son, and not the third son like in the books.
Bran knows his father came back from the war with a baby. He just saw his dying sister hand his dad a baby, whisper something to him, and say "Promise me." I'm pretty sure Bran could connect those dots.
Think they will just use the Winterfell crypts. Could see Sansa possibly finding it and then not telling Jon for a bit because she's upset about how things have played out. Then maybe she gets killed in someway and tells Jon as she's dying. I'm just throwing shit against the wall.
Another Loras question - is it safe to assume that he dies of the wounds he sustained storming Dragonstone for Cersei in the books, since we have confirmation of his death in the show?
I was wondering this last night. I'm pretty sure with the internet most show viewers already knew who jons parents were. BUT, let's pretend it's pre-internet days, would that cut from the babies eyes to Jons be enough to make the connection between the two? I heard her whisper targaryen, but I don't know if I would of caught that if I wasn't expecting it. Also, there has to be a Royal decree or something sealed by Ned in the crypts. How else are the rest of the seven kingdoms supposed to believe Jon? "Hey, my little cousin see things if he fists an albino tree and he told me I'm royalty so give me the crown please". I just don't see that flying with everyone.
So many great moments in that episode but the one that got me most hype may have been Varys walking into Dorne and saying "Fire and Blood."
It's already been said numerous times, but let me echo that the music for that episode was amazing, from start to finish.
I think for Bookfags, the ToJ scene was perfect. But my showfag friends are understandably a little lost. I think a full understanding would have required you to remember a lot of things that happened in Season 1. I also think they kept it a little bit ambiguous on purpose. This only substantiates my claim that we need a Robert's Rebellion prequel movie.
They'd be leaving money on the table if they didn't. I think there'll be a lot of things in the universe after the series is done.
LF tells Robin to have his knights betray Jon in battle and join the Lannisters but before that can happen Sansa busts out her thangs and convinces him to have LF betrayed and killed.
I don't see how you wouldn't green light a dunk and egg miniseries with how small the scope is and how easy they would be to do compared to GoT. Easy money grab.
Littlefinger is not dumb enough to ally with the Lannisters right now. No one would be that stupid. But I don't see how he gets his Iron Throne. Dany's got Dorne and the Reach backing her now as well. She's about to fuck up Kings Landing and then turn her attention northward.
Book LF, yeah. Show LF is basically him throwing shit at the wall and hoping it sticks. Like the writers don't know how to write Tyrion dialogue past the books, they really don't know how to write Littlefinger scheming without the books.
Yeah, aligning with the Lannisters right now would be like hopping aboard the Titanic after it had already split in half.
I don't think anyone else will be underestimating LF anymore and that was his primary advantage. Sansa flat out told Jon that only a fool would trust LF so Jon will be on the look out you would think. And you know that Varys and Tyrion won't allow Dany to underestimate him.
My wife didn't know who Jon's father was as we watched. Non reader \ googler. The problem seems to be that this show has so many little details that it's hard to absorb them all on a single watch. She's focusing in on the fact that Jon isn't really a bastard so he's a legitimate Stark and totally missed that he is a targ and kind of a big deal. It's always interesting to see what a casual watcher picks up and how the show can tiptoe that line while throwing in stuff like Frey pies for the more devoted watchers.
Little finger was banking on Sansa becoming queen in the north. The vale doesn't trust LF, and now he has to deal with King Jon. It appears LF has used all of his moves and he does not sit as strong as he thought he would, something we have not seen really in the series as he always was the one pulling the strings. Now with Bronze Royce/Sansa knowing his motivations, sweet robin will not be as easy to control. I honestly see a downwards trajectory for LF from here on out.
not that your wife does this but a lot of people like to get together with friends & get drunk during these episodes & then ask when they don't understand something they probably should.
My only explanation is that it's easier to take things at face value when you are used to shows like New Girl and House.
Question out of curiosity: in the Tower of Joy scene, had they shown all that but then changed the events/dialogue from the books slightly like they did with Arthur Dayne and not included the "Promise me, Ned," how much would that have changed your view of the scene?
Best part of the episode for me was that Septa Unella and Ser Gregor finally found love. Heartwarming
Have to say, Cersei is one of my new favorite characters after seeing her reaction to the Sept blowing up. That scene was just so amazing.
there's a feminist movement on game of thrones outside of here; which is kind of true but it's funny b/c most of these female rulers are huge fuck-ups whom kinda got there by default.
At first I was like, is she closing the door on zombie torture or zombie rape? Then the answer, it was obviously both. But the question remains, can zombies get erections?
Stupid idea If you watch with closed caption on, would it show exactly what Lyanna says before "promise me ned"? Or it be something generic like (muffled whispering)
What's everyone's plans for this "offseason"? I'm a quarter way through ASOS, but I've taken a couple months off so I'll either read the chapter summaries from the first two books and continue reading, or just start from the beginning. Definitely re-watching the entire show again before season 7, but I'll probably end up re-watching season 6 before then. My main goal is to read as much as I possibly can on "A Wiki of Ice and Fire". Really want to become an authority on things.
LF is fucked. Everyone is onto his bullshit and once Dany arrives she has Tyrion and Varys with her and they both hate him so his power grab is all for naught.
