Dany on the verge of taking Kings Landing Cersei loses her shit and tells Qyburn to ignite the rest of the wild fire. "Burn them all." Jaime kills her to stop it. Full circle.
i think she's torn between who she was (a stark who holds loyalty/honor to be the highest virtues) and what she has become since she left (an untrusting player of the great game).
Still have never understood this. they are "protecting her" from the only person in the world who could possibly keep her safe. Its the best scene in asoiaf so far but that's always struck me as wrong.
ive never heard anything convincing that backed that. it would be cool as then he's king Jaemon but Rhaegar was already married. polygamy isn't something that seems to have much history in westeros. only example of polygamy was the conqueror.
Just off the top of my head Aegon the Conqueror had 2 wives, so polygamy was definitely a thing for the Targaryen's.
OopsPowSurprise if a girl is noone the faces are probably no longer poison. Remember Jaqen switched it up on us when he gave Arya the coin and he just got done murdering about 15 people who weren't on the Many-Faced God's list.
also I refuse on principle to believe Sansa betrays Jon. I think issues will arise but she will learn LF is trying to play her for the throne and she'll switch it on him and he'll die by her hand. if it's so obvious that Cersei will die by Jaime's hand it should be just as obvious who will do in LF(Sansa may or may not pull the figurative trigger but she'll be behind it).
Well, Sansa has always dreamt of being queen. I could see her being tempted and then being saved by her Stark nature at the end.
What is there not to buy? The Targaryens did pretty much whatever they wanted, and there was precedent set in the past they were allowed multiple wives. If Rhaegar married Lyanna so his offspring with her would be legitimate, then I don't really see where they would be much dispute behind Jon's claim with those who would support the Targs. Especially considering Rhaegar's obsession with the "dragon has three heads" prophecy. He wanted a third legitimate child. I think Dany's reaction is going to be the most interesting. If Jon is the legitimate son of Rhaegar, then he technically is above her in the line of succession. Does she step aside? Assuming they both survive (not likely), I think it's possible they end up together in the books, but I'm doubtful D&D are able to sell Jon marrying his Aunt to a general show audience.
Technically Maegor also had multiple wives but that also was a long time ago. I just think it makes more sense for the kingsguard to be there if it was Rhaegar's queen and son than his mistress and bastard. And in the scene tonight, it looked to me that Lyanna told Ned his name was Aemon Targaryen, which would imply he isn't a bastard.
Pretty sure Maegor had multiple wives but they were consecutive not simultaneous. I'm totally down with him being an actual targ I just hadn't heard anything to back all the confidence on the previous page.
so a pet tinfoil hat theory of mine is still possible. Other than tree bran there were only 3 people living who knew Jon's parentage. Ned, Howland and Wylla. Since Ned's dead most expected Howland to come north to let the truth out but I've always wondered about Wylla, the fisherman's daughter from one of the fingers. Maybe a rather little finger? its not a strong thread but its possible she is from Littlefinger's homeland and that somehow the story reached him there. not likely but still not eliminated!
So did the Vale just declare Jon their King? Littlefinger told Sansa that everyone would know that he declared for the Starks then you have Royce and some KOTV yelling king in the north
I think Lyanna Mormont's speech was partially to show us that once Jon's true heritage is revealed, it doesn't matter whether he's true born or bastard born. He's the god damn King.
Why else would the 3 best Kingsgaurd obey to stay at that tower, and die if necessary. These are smart men who knew their job. I doubt they would have just said fuck it and died for one of Rhaegar's bastards, especially when it was known that it was a losing battle. They knew their was royalty up in that tower
The amount of plot movement was amazing. Almost every major character had a significant event and even threw the book readers a few bones with versions of the North remembers and Frey pie. crazy to think that all of this was in one episode: - Cersei blows up the Sept - Mace, Margaery, Loras, Lancel, High Sparrow, and pretty much the entire faith are wiped out - Tommen commits suicide - Jaime returns to Kings Landing - The North remembers speech/King in the North part deux - Frey Pie - Arya shows off faceless man assassin skills and kills Walder Frey - Tyrion becomes Hand of the Queen - Sam reaches the Citadel - Varys brings House Tyrell and Dorne to Dany's side - Cersei crowns herself Queen - Dany actually sails for Westeros - Oh and Winter is officially here That is a season's worth of events and plot movement in one glorious episode.
Littlefinger mentions the bastard without a mother being born in the south. Is that just commonly known where he was born or just that Ned brought him back from the south?
I agree with you that Littlefinger probably figured it out before. I've always wondered who else in Westeros put 2 and 2 together regarding Ned's bastard. But knowing that Jon was born in the South isn't a smoking gun. The war was in the South and Ned came back with a bastard.
It's crazy how coherent the episode was given how much plot progression we got. Music was absolutely fantastic. The next two seasons are mini-seasons right? Seems like the first half will be dealing with the fallout from last night with maybe the wall coming down as the finale and then the second half everyone joining forces to fight the Night King.
gifs I need: - Tommen jumping out the window - Cersei drinking her wine after blowing up Sept - Terminator Arya smiling as she killed Walder
The story was that Ned fathered a bastard during the war. Obviously, almost everywhere is south when you're in Winterfell. It's going to be pretty damn hard to find someone to confirm RLJ in the book since only a few people know the truth, so Littlefinger might just stay at guessing -- if he even has a suspicion.
House surviving count: Stark: 3.5 (Bran, Sansa, Arya, Sorta Jon) Targ: 2 (Dany, Jon) Tully: 1 (Little Imprisoned Ass Bitch) Arryn: 1 (Little Bitch) Lannister: 3 (Cersei, Jamie, Tyrion) Tyrell: 1 (But not of childbearing age, so virtually extinct) Baratheon: 0 (Rowboating bastards aside) Frey: Not sure, but they're pretty much toast. Bolton: 0 Greyjoy: 3 Think we're guaranteed at least one more Lannister death and one more Greyjoy death. Think Dany and Jon get married and that was foreshadowed in last night's episode.
The ToJ was perfect. Just fucking perfect. I could watch that scene a million times and I will get goosebumps every time that baby opens its eyes. I can't imagine that any fans of any story that could be more satisfied than the GoT crew should be this morning. Bravo hbo. GG
Just rewatched the episode, the music was just so on point throughout. Also, I didn't even notice Varys on that final shot the first time. The Targs, Martells, and Tyrells are going to wreck shit.
Isn't there another Tyrell that's crippled or something? I don't think he's been mentioned on the show but I vaguely remember him from the books.
Well they were there doing as thier King/Prince bid them. And how was Rhaegar supposed to know it would be Ned and his homies minus Robert that showed up? If Robert showed up and Lyanna told him she loved Rhaegar and they got secretly married and this was their child do you have faith he would of went, "cool shit, go raise him but don't tell anyone cause Rhaegars dead and I'm king now."
Houses officially BTFO in season 6 Tyrell - Rest in RIP based Mace the Ace. I'm glad Loras is dead so they couldn't butcher his character anymore. Marg's titties will be missed. Bolton - Roose poisoned by his enemies and Ramsay rightful Warden of the North usurped Karstark - get fucked Umber - based as fuck Smalljon let me down so hard with his Bolton Alliance Martell - muh girl power Sand Sneks beat the Patriarchy Tarly - Heartsbane stolen by literally the biggest pussy in Westeros Faith Militant - literally BTFO Every Northern House but Mormont - got called a pussy by the meanest 10 year old girl in Westeros. Frey - have some more pie
Don't remember in the show but Loras has 2 older brothers Garlan and Willas. Willas is the cripple and the heir. He was going to marry Sansa before Tywin found out and had her marry Tyrion.
I just don't really understand whatever tension they're building between Jon and Sansa. Maybe a storyline where Jon doesn't care about Winterfell or the north and is just focused on the true enemy? Meanwhile Sansa is all obsessed with the place and pointless heritage, etc.
Are we assuming Bran knows what he saw? In other words we, the viewers, all know it's Jon but does Bran? Not sure it matters though
