Bought this game 2 weeks ago and finally gave it up tonight. It's painfully bad in every possible way. The AI is terrible, graphics are mediocre and the difficulty levels are either way too easy or comically difficult. I love golf and wanted this game not to suck but it's Madden bad.
The game itself could be better, but in general, it’s still entertaining. We play 2 v 2 alternate shot games most nights and have a good time. It’s a good change of pace game.
what level of difficulty is comically difficult? Most people play on Pro. General consensus is that it's not easy. My HCP hit +20.7 last night so Pro is also not comically difficult. With you on graphics though but wasn't expecting much. The only thing that's painfully bad in the game to me is it's obvious the developers have never read or attempted to understand the rules of red stake water hazards drops or white stake OOB penalty.
Pro-Am I win by huge amounts. Pro I miss 3 foot putts semi-regularly. I think that, aside from the graphics, my biggest complaint is that the creators don't seem to have ever played golf. Drives landing in thick rough routinely kick 20 yards in random directions and balls roll through rough like it's not even there at times. That same rough, on your 2nd shot, is so thick that a pro golfer can only hit it 150 yards with a 5 iron.
How so? It's about the same as the Tiger Woods games as far as I remember. I don't have an issue with it.
A couple times every round the speed on the white bar moves from left to right and leaves shit short. I’m wondering now maybe it happens when you have a horrible R3 down up. I was playing as I typed my comment so prob some frustration too plus I had a 4 putt somehow last night but maybe that was the beer
Oh yeah, that does happen to me every now and then where my stroke will be in the white and it shoots back down before I can press forward. But I think that's when my back swing is a bit too slow.
I always yell glitch in party chat when this happens but deep down I’m with you it’s due to being extra careful with the backswing and probably a little hesitation in the downswing. the only actual complaint I have about putting is the grid around the ball immediate area sometimes not breaking when both lines behind and in front of the ball have movement (on shorter putts) and the ball falling off a cliff immediately in the same setup but a longer putt.
Outside of the glitch/yip discussed above I love putting. They shouldn’t make it a thing to hammer a 3-5 foot putt though and miss it. And an automated tap-in within 2 feet would be great The rough complaints are all valid but those have been a problem in every golf game I’ve played back to the old Tiger days overall I think pro difficulty is good for casual play.
Automated tap in would speed things up so much. And we play on pro with a few modifications to up the difficulty a bit more. Plus we usually play pretty difficult courses.
I’m horrendous I just started pro-am difficulty and am 10 back lmao I’ve missed 12 3 footers for birdie or par and quadruple bogey a hole hitting into water twice
Published a beta of my course I'm working. Mostly just so my buddies could take a look and give me feedback but if anyone else wants to check it out and give me your thoughts that would be cool. Called Project Augusta for now. Not necessarily Augusta inspired. Just the name I used temporarily.
How long did it take you to create? What system? Ive thought about starting one, but am nervous about how tedious it will be.
I'd say 4-5 days just for the first few holes. It's very slow but I really enjoy if. I'm on PS4. I'm sure it would be easier on PC.
Started playing this again on my ps5 and forgot how good it actually it’s. Seems like they are adding more content as well
I deleted it to make room for cyberpunk. guess i can download PGA again for a year until CP is playable
Downloaded yesterday. Went to Q-School this morning. It’s all right. I expect the next iteration to be much better since it’s gonna have Tiger’s name on it.
EA has recognized 2K’s success and is bringing back their own golf game. they can get royally fucked. I don’t think I’ve hated a company for as long of time as I have EA.
Don’t think EA can compete with the create a course but they may throw haymakers with the course licenses to get back in the market
I envision two separate games with half the courses on one and the other half on another. Just a dick move by EA after sitting on the license for years, and Rory was pure shit
But as of now you can’t input created courses into career mode. I’m sure they’ll expand on that though
EA allegedly has a game coming out this Spring too, but they haven’t released many details. They do have ANGC, Kiawah, St Andrews, Pebble, etc. Overall I like the recent 2K game and even have liked them going back to the TGC days. Just hope they can license more real courses, not just TPCs too
Gonna be interesting to see who goes for the LIV golfers, I can’t see EA doing it. Yet I’m pretty sure the Saudi’s put a shit ton of money into EA.
It’s not even the courses for me. The franchise needs to be exponentially deeper with the option to use created courses.
I feel like I’d love the course designer mode, I just haven’t had the time/patience to take a crack at it. It seems so tedious the few times I’ve clicked around with it.
Same, feels like something I wouldve used as a teenager and created a ton of legit courses, but now, I just can’t fathom the headache with elevation/greens. We had a group that would play 2-3 courses a night, all created ones and it was pretty damn fun. Some courses were really well done and others we made note to never play again.
Pretty much any TGC Member course with a decent rating have all been fun courses with good difficulty.
