Jimmy Graham, the tight end? You guys are killing Parcells for missing on a tight end? Not like a HOF Qb, we’re talking about Jimmy Graham…okay.
killing a guy for missing on a local talent that the team was begging him to draft. A guy that turned out to be a HoF tight end and was avaiable for the low low cost of a 3rd round pick in the draft. John Jerry certainly had a good dolphins tenure though. Parcells was awful with the fins. It's not really debatable.
Agreed that he was passed his prime and not very good with the dolphins- though I’d say he was still way better for the organization than Wanny or late-stage Shula. He missed on a guy who every other team missed on through 2 rounds. Was he wrong? Yes. But there must have been something there for every other team to be wrong as well. It also seems insane to me to look at his resume and point to that, when he’s had worse fuck ups and enough accomplishments to more than make up for them imo. But only after I responded did I remember that Graham went to the U and you and CaneKnight are big Canes fans. So, understandable.
Just looked it up- so apparently Graham only played one year of college football. Obviously his measurables and athleticism were off the charts. He’s exactly the type of guy Parcells would miss on.
I don’t care if he goes out there in tighty whiteys, but it’s not my perception of him that matters. I hope I can come back to this thread next year or sometime after McDaniel leads this team to some late season/post season success and admit how wrong I was. But if the late season nose dives continue, maybe some of you guys can admit, he might not be the guy? Also the Graham argument got me thinking of big misses in phin’s history. I’m gonna say Saban choosing Culpepper over Brees probably the biggest one- though I get it, Brees was coming off a pretty bad injury to his throwing shoulder; and Wanny drafting a practice squad linebacker in the 2nd round over Aquan Boldin for a team that was in desperate need of a WR to compliment an already good defense and run game. Anybody got any other good ones? I’m sure I’m missing something more recent since I haven’t followed as closely.
We've done this a thousand times, but why not one more. Sean Avery over Randy Moss Jamar fucking fletcher over Brees and Reggie Wayne Cam Smith over Stevenson Jake Long over Matt Ryan Vernon Carey over Vince Wilkork
There's many more but Jake Long was a 4x Pro Bowler and we have no clue how good Smith is/will be since Fangio was obsessed with Eli fucking Apple.
I was just going through all of them, but Matt Ryan was a Top 5-10 QB for 15 years. a QB>>>>>LT all day every day.
Yea, technically it’s my perception of how he’s perceived by others. Again, hope I am wrong and I certainly could be. I’m basing this off of watching him interact with his players and other coaches and the team’s performance down the stretch the last 2 years.
The only canes I mentioned were ones that ended up being HoF caliber players that people wanted the Fins to draft at the time...
Eli Apple played over Cam Smith because Eli Apple was better than Cam Smith, not because Fangio is obsessed with Eli Apple. Definitely hurt to miss on that pick there given how well Stevenson played.
To be fair, considering the QB situation at the time, Jimmy Graham wouldn’t have done shit in Miami. He was great with one of the best QBs of all time and the most accurate passer ever - one that could put the ball where only Jimmy could get it.
I think when it became obvious midseason that Philly was gonna be in the market for a DC that he had made up his mind then. Sucks but yeah. And I'm sure the players knew it.
I thought Fangio did a good job, but his obvious dislike of Cam Smith, weird usage of the linebackers, and the fact that the players seem to hate him, I'm fine with him moving on. Would have liked to force the eagles to give us something for him, but it is what it is.
I hope I end up wrong but I don't really buy Fangio having some anti-Cam Smith agenda. Maybe he just isn't good?
I thought he did a very good job under the circumstances and without having his players yet. All depends on who we hire but maybe he just wanted out
agree also you don’t fire a dc for fuckin cam smith. Wonder what Chubb would say? Of course the malcontents are squeaking right
Fuck cam smith. He was just a dogshit draft pick, blaming one of the most successful modern day nfl coordinators for him not getting on the field is lame especially if Eli fucking Apple was able to play. Cam smith didn’t play because of cam smith.
Just thinking back to what this thread was like when we lost to the last pick in the draft last year and now that guy is in the super bowl. and then thinking about how people think apparently Tua isn’t good enough at the same time.
yea getting almost 10m more in cap space that anticipated is probably the difference between keeping and losing Wilkins. Ogbah can GTFO but Howard still is a good player. He's just not a top 5 CB in the league anymore AND he's always injured. Correct decision on both players imo
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/n...-Sophie-Hall.html?ito=email_share_article-top Plus size model was at hills house practicing football. This whole story is weird.
It sucks but X has been very average the past two years. In his prime he was one of the best defensive players the Phins have had in my lifetime though. Agree on both moves, Ogbah was a no brainer. If we can keep Wilkins with this salary cap bump and at least one of Hunt/Williams, I will be very happy.
