Wasn't tackled, but a clear hands to the face penalty. Add in the bad call on the defensive delay of game to play before and yeah, that's really bad. Just another horribly officiated game in the NFL. We got away with our share as well.
I think we see Minnesota break that streak this year. Orlando Magic potentially next year... As for the Dolphins who knows LOL
Can't commit big money to Tua. Blow everything else up outside of Reek and a handful of other guys like the two DE, obviously Ramsay.
just won 11 games after 20 years of struggling to get to 9 wins. A couple bounces away from 12-13 wins. Blow it up. I really hate you as a poster
The blow it up stuff I've seen online has been insane even to me and y'all know how pessimistic I am. Next year is going to be the year to know what we really have. If we can stay healthy and maybe just maybe Tua takes another step in terms of improvement, who knows what can happen. The discourse around this team has been even more toxic than usual and I'm really not sure why
because a city that outside the heat has been subjected to absolute garbage from their sports teams feels entitled.
That's also confusing to me, it's nice just to be consistently making the playoffs again. Also it's a minor miracle we won 11 games with all the injuries we had this year.
Also I think hot take culture that's driven by Twitter and fucking ESPN has not been good for the NFL in terms of the way people talk about these teams. It makes sense for college football but the margins in the NFL are so fucking small calling a team garbage because they lose to like say the Raiders is nuts. The AFC playoff seeding came down to like the last fucking day. There's really not that much difference between a team like the Raiders and Baltimore when you go position by position. Guys like Lamar or Queen make the difference and the difference makers are like only a handful of guys
I'll disagree here. Our schedule wass trash. We beat the shit out of any team where we had a talent or coaching advantage. Our issue was that if plan A didn't work, there was no real plan B.
I mean man, even beating what I guess you can call "bad teams" we didn't let those injuries effect us but as I said in the paragraph above Handful of guys make that difference between being a high end football team and one that's in the early picks of the draft. How often did we go into these games missing those handful of difference makers?
Just wanna thank the Cowboys for taking the heat off of us today. Christmas Eve really was the fraud bowl.
The dolphins are clearly a very good team. Just saying “can’t beat good teams” is misleading in the sense they only lost to one good team who didn’t HOST a playoff game. and that was on the road vs the eagles back when they were near consensus best in the league at the time. now to win anything of significance you have to beat the elite teams. Ok. But calling the dolphins bad or frauds or worth blowing up is total overkill. the defense injuries were just too much and even in the games the offense stalled, you had a defense who gave up long drive and all the field position. An elite offense should score anyway fine, but cards were stacked and that’s before even truly knowing the extent of the Hill and Waddle injuries. Those two haven’t been healthy since like week 6. and when’s the last time a dolphins team clinched the playoffs as early as we did?
This kinda reminds me of the panthers (the hockey ones) two seasons ago. Presidents trophy but total change and shutdown come playoffs. But it was clearly a good team. the one question in that analogy is who would be like adding tkachuk. But other than that part, it’s a good team that could be set up for success next year.
People just also have no fucking patience. think about how long it took the Lightning to get over the hump and win a title despite consistently being one of the best in hockey year in and year out. People already acting crazy in the reddit subs over a magic team who's two best players are 21 years old. Talking about giving up assets to add some massive contract of (insert aging borderline all star here) that won't contribute shit to this team once those guys hit their prime. Absolute lunacy, everyone just wants instant success but if it doesn't happen in 1 or 2 years they wanna just be bad and start over I agree tho I think next year will give us a really good idea about Mcdaniel, this team and most importantly of all Tua himself.
I am obviously very biased, but if the Phins had their projected starting lineup playing, they’re the best team in football. Obviously injuries happen to everyone, but we were missing so many key pieces here at the end when we were counting on everyone being healthy. Hoping we are able to run it back for the most part and maybe be on the right side of the injury bug next year.
The one conversation that’s fair and is immediate is the Tua contract situation. My take is pay him $40 or whatever but I wouldn’t be against an early draft pick as a backup. Ala the Jordan love move.
I'm def down with drafting a QB. Tua's physical limitations are real and big problem and that's ok to say. Saying that doesn't diminish the things he's done but people take it wayyyy to far when discussing him, You'd think he was bryce young or zach wilson or something I'll be honest I'd rather pay Wilkins than Tua.... It's not like tua can just leave
The way our offense looked down the stretch despite having most of our starters back had me shook. Don't know if I can get on board with this.
No one in the NFL is healthy this time year dude, I'm not interested in giving them those kinds of excuses for what we saw late in the season, especially with some of that that horrific play calling Mcdaniel was doing. I'll chalk it up to learning on the job but the shit we saw especially in the last few games of the season was unacceptable by any standard of measurement Baltimore Ravens were as hurt on offense as we were on defense, and they went out and beat the dogshit out of teams. No one is interested in those kinds of excuses. We need to be better, Full Stop. That falls on the head of McDaniel. Especially when the unit that has those built in excuses due to injury is out there playing their asses off and giving you chances to do something. Our defense gave everything they had relative to the talent they had available, the offense didn't even show up
The offense was as healthy as you could ask for at this time of year considering all our skill players are undersized or injury prone.
It’s really just a shame we never had both things clicking at once. Once defense was playing great is when offense dropped off. When offense was at its peak the defense was trash. and the offense playing hurt was just particularly bad for our style which was predicated on motion and speed. So I don’t throw it away as an excuse. But they do need to look at the depth and decide how to beat you in more ways.
And this is my point. They need counters when plan A doesn’t work. They need to find ways to grind yards in the middle of the field when the perimeter is closed off.
O and another thing about the injury stuff... GRIER NEEDS TO DO A MUCH BETTER JOB DRAFTING. We seemingly have zero depth at linebacker and the defensive back field. Which is absurd, the reason a team like the Bills that are cap strapped as we are were able to survive all those defensive injuries is because their talent evaluation on defense and offense is lightyears ahead of our own and they have depth seemingly everywhere on that team
They had injuries at DB and went out and got someone who played at a near pro bowl level for a pick swap. We had injuries and sat on our dicks
Fucking Eli Apple man, we've been missing so bad on draft picks in the secondary we're signing guys that even the worst teams in the league wanted no part of
Fucking exactly. Eli Apple was fucking garbage from snap 1. He started on Saturday. No effort to fix that
Gotta wonder if there’s a correlation between how hard we practice and our injury rate. McDaniel came from SF and they’re notoriously always banged up.
I don't know man a lot of it just feels like bad fucking luck. Like what happened Conner Williams. Just a freak play where someone rolled up on him or Reek's ankle injury was just a dirty play by the Titans. Phillips achillies tear on the Jets which claimed a few achillies this year etc
After watching him on hard knocks, I’m convinced this team is going to be good, but never get over the hump with McDaniel at the helm. He’s a Madden geek who can draw up plays with the best of them but does not strike me as someone who is capable of inspiring grown men to play a very violent sport.
Is that just based on physical appearance or what? Because McVay and Lefleur have similar personalities and coaching styles
That may subconsciously play a part, but it’s more what he says and how he says it. It’s like the antithesis of Campanile. That guy is a football coach.
I didn’t say that. McDaniel is unserious. He runs off the field doing that stupid thing where he puts his hand over his head and wears his paints like a child. I would laugh at his pep talks to the team if they weren’t so bad.
This is just me, but give me the guy who actually knows shit over the guy quotes vince lombardi and shit. Both have value but when it comes down to it, you need to be able to outscheme people
I’m sorry you don’t like it. But the results so far suggest this team is good, until the pressure is on, at which time they crumble. I think the guy in charge has a lot to do with how they’ve reacted down the stretch.
I think the issues are deeper than that. Injuries and a QB who folds like a cheap chair against good teams for starters
I agree that McDaniel needs to grow as a coach. He needs a plan B when the defense takes away the perimeter. But he's by far the best coach we've had since Jimmy. I have faith he can grow into it. No thanks on a meathead. Meathead coaches rarely get more out of their talent because they can't scheme for shit.
Just like every other fucking coach we've had. Thanks for the worthless input Flores teams got tore out the fucking frame anytime they faced anyone with a pulse. Mcdaniel's first game he rolled into Baltimore and we had one of the best comebacks in NFL history. The "can't beat good teams" shit is over blown, especially since we did it last year. This year was jsut weird. Sick of the hot takes.
Flores clearly wasn’t ready for the job. But I don’t think McDaniel is either. I never said he can’t beat good teams, he can and has- just not down the stretch. Also not a big fan of being the first in-season hard knocks team. I don’t know how selection for that works, but I’m pretty sure that, even for the preseason version, there’s never been a team that’s done it and been very successful in the same season.
Bill parcells has been in this organization and he sucked ass he’s a big reason we didn’t fucking draft Jimmy Graham fuck him
well yeah, that's two of the best coaches of all time. Might as well mention Belicheck in there as well.
They are also the best examples of 2 very different ways to do the job. Belichik was and is a cheat. Fuck him.
Also people eventually turning on MM for his personality and being like "HURRR he can't win because he's not yelling and screaming at dudes" is easily one of the most predictable things ever and it's just as fucking stupid as I'd imagine
I know I've told this story before. He was told again and again to draft Jimmy. He put a 6th round grade on him
Hey, be nice. I thought we were friends. It’s not that he isn’t yelling and screaming, he is. It just comes off disingenuous. Like it’s clearly not something that he’s comfortable doing. Add to that the goofy stuff he does, like the hand fin, pants and his adderall-fueled word vomit and it makes him appear to be an unserious person. I’ve been a dolphins fan since I was 8. And admittedly have lost interest in the team and the nfl steadily over the last 15 years or so, because fuck what they did to Kaep and fuck Steve Ross, his politics and he and his billionaire buddies asking the public to build their stadiums,, among other things. So my view is a relatively dispassionate one. You’re tearing down Parcells, one of the best to ever do it, and defending McDaniel. I love it, that’s the type of subjectivity a passionate fan possesses. But maybe don’t give me the “Hurr” treatment for a take you don’t like.
