Pretty stark read. Everything needs to be blown up and let some outsiders run this shit from the very top on down and fuck elections for a while. Let the youth matriculate, ride the middle of the table for a couple of years, and stop these stupid fucking election-fueled spending sprees. Also, if Rafa Marquez gets the nod I’m going to fucking screeeeeeeam https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/39429908/why-xavi-stepped-barcelona-coach-candidates-job
There was a similarly good article on the Athletic this week echoing many of the same points that I can post if anyone gives a shit. it’s wild that almost everyone in football - writers, pundits, coaches, former players, (reasonable) fans etc - agrees that there’s a clear and logical way out of this mess, one that closely aligns with the club ethos, but for whatever reason the powers that be simply refuse to accept that reality
I mean, if FdJ and Pedri are both out AGAIN for several games then it's not doomerism to say this season is done. Stats show that we are not very good when either one of them is out of action and we are fucking garbage when bird are out. Fuck
Well, the Athletic Club fans got to see Barca's hopes for anything this season end, so they got that for their money.
It’s almost like the club should be trusting the youth development and give more kids chances vs. spending hundreds of millions on outside talent. The success rate on high $ transfers has to be among the lowest of all the big clubs. Other than Frenkie I can’t even recall an impactful high $ transfer since Neymar left.
For sure thought after we went down 2-1 that we were going to get put on the pole. Fantastic comeback win.
if youre gonna go out go out in a flaming trash heap of your own creation, i suppose let lamine play sunday and then give him the rest of the season off before rfef runs him into the ground this summer
That shit sucked, but otoh no one gave us a chance to even be in the position to advance to the semis soooo, just happy to be here? With our 17 y/o defender, our 17 y/o winger, and our 21 (20?) y/o golden boy midfielder, maybe we'll be ok.
the midfield injuries usually get brought up first, but the balde injury was the real death knell on the season
Cancelo just fell off a cliff dude has always been weird and unlikeable but it wasn’t that long ago he may have been the best fullback in the world
ill give him the benefit of the doubt and just say his confidence is shot after two of the biggest clubs in the world told him to kick rocks or maybe he just peaked at 25 idk
I thought Pep and the Bayern management were fucking idiots for letting him walk so easily but it turns out I might not know ball the way I once believed
