There was another “teen takeover” around Roosevelt commons that extended up and down for several blocks. Didn’t end well https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/loc...nd-roosevelt-in-the-south-loop/3371686/?amp=1
Good luck to anyone flying in or out of ORD today. Palestinians protesters have taken over 190 and are blocking all traffic. I drove by it and it's absolutely nuts.
Looking to make a trip at the end of June for my birthday. Flights are pretty cheap and so are hotels. I feel like I want to stay in River North area. We will just be looking to window shop/go to watch stores and eat good food. What’s the consensus Chicago style pizza place? Was checking out Bavette for a dinner but open to other suggestions. I also like tiki drinks a lot so will definitely hit up 3 dots and a dash.
Hey buckeye, did you read the thread title? Bavette’s is great for a bday trip. Tell your server it is your bday. Their cork fee is you have to give a glass to someone else in the dinning room so you may get a free pour.
Deep Dish well knowb Best: Pequods Acceptable: Lou Malnati's Dogshit: Giordano's Thin Crust Best: D'agostinos Acceptable: Lou Malnati's Dogshit: Giordano's
Bavettes is incredible and their sister restaurant next door, Ciccio Mio, is one of the better Italian meals I've ever had. Only been to Chicago twice but every meal I've had there has ranged from good to incredible, except the pizza, personally I'd skip it.
Didn’t Mariano’s recently buy that place? Makes me think something else was going on for them to shut down suddenly
The guy that started Mariano's started Doms and then Foxtrot invested in Doms or something like that Mariano's blows now too after becoming Kroger
It did but replacing bustling spaces in popular neighborhoods with empty store fronts is less than ideal
I really wonder what the fuck happened with them. They’re going to get sued by their employees and owe them pay + some now because they had over 100 employees. They had some in Dallas too. Apparently filing bankruptcy but to do that during the middle of the day with no notice is… strange to say the least
That’s the most likely time to file bankruptcy. Nobody says “wow, employees, we are going to quit operations next Tuesday and liquidate” because that’s stupid and likely would result in lawsuits from creditors. Employees won’t be able to sue for the immediate termination component.
They killed their website and updated Google and everything. Shit is real weird. Bet it comes out that someone was embezzling money somewhere
I’m not a lawyer, so I don’t know shit, but aren’t they required by law to give a 60 day notice or have to pay their employees since they have a certain number? I read that’s the case bankruptcy or not
eh someone else is just going to buy it and continue under the same name and they said they’re not changing anything about it
On one hand - hahaha Jim Oberwies is a piece of shit. On the other - oh man, they make good ice cream
Didnt they close because the staff tried to unionize? If true - fuck them. But also get it sucks if that was your spot.
yeah they had no interest in compromising with the union, i don’t feel bad for the owners at all. it was just nice having it as a hub for queer stuff that was a little different than a lot of the boystown scene
yes, but with the most over the top demands of all time. Here are some of those. Also, i liked Foxtrot.
$635 / month is a huge amount for a 401k contribution. Thats effectively a standard 401k match at a Fortune 500 for a $250k salary.
