Finally downloaded and fired it up last night. Another challenge crucible appeals to me very little. Also, it kept crashing...so I probably won't be returning to that.
Getting back into this game. Has no right being as great as it is. One of the best looking and performing games on the system.
I never played the prelude to Ragnarok. Looking for something to kill some hours outside of NCAA; would it be wildly underwhelming to go back and play it now?
I didn’t have a PlayStation when that one came out and by the time I got one and wanted to play Ragnarok, I couldn’t wait while I went back and played the first.
It's a game made for PS4, I think. Having played Ragnarok first, I just wasn't sure what the overall feel toward the game was in comparison.
it still looks better and performs better than like half of the AAA PS5 games released in the last 2 years.
Like, it still hard clears every single Ubisoft game released in the 3 calendar years. ... granted that's not really a high threshold anymore.
GOW 2018 and Ragnarok together are #1 oh my list of games that I wish I could wipe from my memory and play for the first time again. Fusiontegra doesn’t know how lucky he is
I think I once unknowingly spent 11 hours straight fighting Sigrun and it was 7 AM Sunday morning before I realized it.
Yeah, this plays just as well as the newer one and it’s actually kind of cool seeing the story backwards. A lot of “awww…” moments
And finished 2018 I understood the story when started Ragnarok but actually playing 2018 definitely gives it more context. I’m reinstalling Ragnarok to start over.
She took me drastically fewer attempts than the queen at the end of Ragnarok. I also never finished the last King in Ragnarok last playthrough...so that'll be happening this time.
Playing through a second time helped me make smarter choices. I fucked off on side quests as soon as I got all of the primary maps open in Ragnarok and had to go back a lot after once I progressed far enough in the story to get essential items. This time, I just powered through the story until I got Draupnir and then I started going back to do things and have found stuff goes down much faster.
I found Sigrun more difficult than any of the bosses in Ragnarok. It didn't take me that many attempts on GNA surprisingly. I took forever to beat Sigrun.
I think playing 2018 before Ragnarok helped me understand the gameplay this time around. There are A LOT of controls in Ragnarok and having the base of moves from 2018 to build on has made my gameplay on Ragnarok this time through much smoother.
I can definitely see that. When Ragnarok dropped I had played 2018 so much I picked everything up right away.
King Hrolf gave me absolute fits, I think I had to drop the difficulty and it still took me several tries to take him down. I was super nervous about Gna but I beat her the first try. I don’t have a good explanation for how or why but I took the W. I don’t remember if I ever beat Sigrun which probably means I didn’t.
Imo 2018 is still the better game but its very slim. The sections in Ragnarok where you're forced to play as Atreus still feels like a chore and even more so in GMGoW difficulty. I understand it was necessary for plot and narrative reasons but it detracted from the overall enjoyment.
Absolutely. I just love all the available side quests in Ragnarok and the addition of the draupnir spear is so fucking good
I think I still have a couple bosses unfinished in Ragnarok. Probably somebody in the volcano arena area. I should boot it back up.
Feel like jumping back into this after a little time away is tough. Getting back up to speed on mechanics, especially against tougher enemies, felt rough when I tried to go to the DLC earlier this year after a few months being finished with my first playthrough.
Finally got my first platinum. Feels good man. Started straight into Valhalla and it feels a lot better without a big gap since playing.
This is my problem with many games. I spend too much time exploring and end up locked out of a lot of places cause I haven’t progressed the story enough, lol.
