you don’t have to. NV looks dated but in my opinion has a much better story. You’ll enjoy 4 without playing NV
I’ve played both when they first came out. Not sure if I ever actually finished either one considering all the add ons.
They were pretty adamant that the storyline and dialogue really sucked and some guy named Emil had completely disrespected his customers and the gaming community with a blatant cashgrab
There are also a lot of people on Twitter joking about how fans of the show who have never played the games before are likely going to buy 4 and hate it
Two episodes in, the show and the game share the same criticism I've had for years Spoiler They give you power armor way too early
Did you ever play the OG Fallout or Fallout 2? Felt like you didn't get power armor or meet brotherhood of steel until the end of the game. I also think I was around 11-12 years old then so could have a distorted sense of time.
Never played og. I kinda recall the same as you with 2, but then since then it's been all "ok you killed a radroach here's your power armor"
I very rarely use power armor in fallout games. It’s cool and all, but I just have more fun playing without it
Or mods. But I agree that it's more fun to play out without power armor. I would run it with the gatling laser sometimes when I would want absolutely wreck stuff. But I had a mod of 4 for the NCR ranger armor which is my favorite Fallout armor.
Through three episodes. Think it’s great, but agree some of the acting seems really bad. I don’t like the brotherhood actor, but maybe he’s that way by design. Am surprised by how graphic it is.
I think because some of his facial expressions and voice are kind of child like? Which is weird bc he looks old.
On episode 7 and haven’t played the game. Lucy’s “dad” and the Hollywood forever lady, are they ghouls? Why don’t they look like cooper if they are as old (pre war)?
Either that was a massive plot hole / oversight or they plan on coming back to it to explain. I’m hoping the latter. Possible she stole the crypto tech though maybe? Or was kind of a double agent buds bud?
I think it’s more likely her company was one of the ones who invented the tech that Vault-Tec purchased. I thought the same thing though and that was the only semi logical conclusion I could make.
Just finished it last night - never played any of the games - and I really enjoyed it. Good world building and the nugget at the end with all of those different companies having control over their own vaults has me curious as to how different they are from the ones we saw during the season from Vault-tec. I'm looking forward to season 2 even though I have no idea what to expect!
There’s thousands of YouTube summary videos for the games that show cutscenes from the games that would be worth your time if you want additional background and lore.
Some of the vaults they mentioned were ones we've came across in the games over the years. Let's just say they are extremely different.
Ok that’s good to know! The world definitely intrigues me and after watching the show I might have to go down the rabbit hole and learn more about it
Just finished the Season, probably gonna burn at least an hour or two at work YouTubing additional Fallout content…hooray
Think you guys are overthinking it and she will have her story regarding vault-Tec and crypto addressed next season. We didn’t even get to goggins addressing his wife about what he overheard at the board meeting. That storyline isn’t over.
I doubt it Nolan said the airship in the show is the Predwyn from Fallout 4 so I think that would mean the Brotherhood destroying the institute is the canon
I remember one of the games a few years used the wanderer in their ad campaign and I keep singing it every time I start an episode
Partner was absolutely flabbergasted at me singing every word of "I don't want to set the world on fire" during the credits of e2.
I play fallout on PS5 but wish I had a mod to access all radio stations. New Vegas has some good songs but the playlist is too small.
idk if i still need to spoiler but whatever Spoiler Was Ghoul's wife at the party in the beginning where he and his daughter see the nukes hitting LA? I'm guessing he confronts his wife after the convo we see in the finale and she leaves him, VaultTec discredits him, and he becomes poor and her crew sets off the nukes?
No she wasn’t. This is what I think and to me makes sense Spoiler or most likely he leaves her due to his ethics, etc and then losses it all and gets discredited
The only issue I have with this theory is I’m a bit confused about the timeline. He goes from famous celebrity actor to kids party clown? It’s not clear what his timeline is with his wife throughout that.
She wasn't. Which makes me wonder if/how his daughter makes it to a vault. It would see she did. Also makes you wonder why his wife would drop the nukes when she didn't have her daughter with her. Hopefully these things will be explained in the next season.
