Yeah, you go down the row of nice cars and then there is a random Mazda or something thrown in there.
Picked up a 1975 K5 Blazer on Monday to restore. I'm equally terrified as I am excited. Thanks for asking.
The original black leather seats are still in it and almost perfect. Can't get the interior pics to pull up for some reason on my phone. The guy had re-done the front end when he got a steal on a '72 and bailed on this one. I think it's going back to the original Spring Green color. Also, the guy I bought it off of almost drove it off the side of the fucking trailer loading it up. /cs
That’s awesome! Do you have any pictures and/or plans of what you want it to be when you’re done? Edit: damn, too slow.
Yea, I think it's going back to Spring Green. Going to replace everything under the hood and change it to fuel injection. I'm not going crazy with lift, etc. I'll put BFG AT on it with mostly like the original rims if I can find a set. I am trying to keep it classic as best I can. Yes, I'm putting in AC though. Got it out of Anderson, SC. If I can find '69'-'72 for a decent price I'm buying it.
Fuck yes. Every other day I’m sharing some square body on bring a trailer to my wife. I will break her down soon enough.
You planning to swap to a newer engine platform like the LS or LT or just swap the 350 to a Holley Sniper or something similar? I went the throttle body route with the MSD Atomic EFI 2 for the 383 in my Camaro and rewired the HEI to allow the computer to control the timing as well.
Awesome man. I’ve been looking for a while but just haven’t been able to pull the trigger on anything. Goal is to have one by the end of the year.
Probably something in the middle but closer to complete than a project rig. I’m not mechanically inclined at all so I’d be relying on someone else to do all the work. Definitely not trying to buy a show truck, just want something that is somewhat reliable. Basically trying to scratch an itch I’ve had since I was 10 or 12 years old.
Sadly, you're probably going to have the best odds of finding something like that on facebook marketplace. At least that was my experience. Good luck, I've been looking for the better part of a year. Prices are getting hilarious. I almost bought a pair of '75's for $16K. One ran, one didn't but was close enough. I regret not pulling the trigger on those.
Yeah, I’ve been looking long enough now to know what I’m in for unfortunately. I passed on a few last summer that I’m absolutely kicking myself for now. Oh well.
Got most all of the interior out of the truck but check out the options. About as close to fully loaded as you could have gotten in 1975? Not entirely sure. Also the 350 in it had been completely rebuilt. It's got 10K miles on it. I am a little shocked that this guy let it go at all much less what I paid. I am scared to find out why.
Sold it on Facebook in 36 hours. Had countless ppl hitting me up. Listed it for 8k Guy offered 7 cash Came and test drove then dude wanted to haggle. Let him have it for 6700 Dealership offered me 1700 a year ago, one reason bc it was dirty
My dad had two 64 c10 trucks while I was growing up so I was wanting one until I realize half decent without even a good crate motor is 50k plus. You used to be able to buy one with the latest corvette motor, modern breaks/suspension, and perfect for mid 30s
UncleJesse are you in Bham? I can't remember. I'm still trying to find an MB indy I like. So far, the one in Trussville (Mercedes Doctor) was best. MB Medic in Hueytown was sorta mixed. They replaced my front SAM and then the DRLs didn't work...it's a programming thing they can't do. There's no way they'd know (or that I would), but it's probably a $100 diagnostic on a $1200 repair. Frustrating that they didn't make that right.
I’m in Guntersville. I usually take my stuff to Huntsville. When I owned BMW I used to take them to Eurotech but with my Porsche I take it to a place called Ashley’s Garage. I haven’t really found anybody around here that I trust with Mercedes so I just use the dealership. I’ve heard good things about the Mercedes Doctor in Birmingham though.
The CLK55 is the supercharged one, right? It's fast as fuck, especially because those aren't big cars. It's basically like a C55 with better styling. That motor is awesome, too.
I believe the V6 is supercharged but mine is the V8 and naturally aspirated. But yes, it is very quick.
Yeah, my bad. The E55 is supercharged, so I just assumed these were the same powerplant. The 63's were this way, but yours is n/a. But who cares. If anything a lot more reliable and still fast as shit.
Have access to a lift and forklift now, so I’m going to order a LS7 clutch kit, and go ahead and replace master/slave cylinders and install a monster remote bleeder too. This should be……fun Forklift is to drop the whole rear subframe/trans/tube and save some time. I’ve seen a few shops online do that so figure it’s worth a shot. Have a few folks to help with that part.
My mom’s 76 Corvette. I’m trying to find a similar one, but hers wasn’t a Stingray. And that’s all I can find. Pic: my oldest sister on my moms
Picked up a '78 on Friday with a 454 in it. It's in somewhat better shape all around but we are completely out of control now.
The wiring harness is pretty fucking wild on the '78 just like the '75. Rednecks love to re-wire aftermarket shit in the dumbest ways. But the brake lines are new. So that's nice.
Buddy is potentially selling a c6, trying to decide if I want to grab it. 08, LS3, 3LT trim, Auto (wife can drive), 60k miles, black, morimoto lights conversion, texasspeed LT headers, x-pipe, corsa sport axle back Wondering if $25k is fair, seems to be based off some quick searching. If we got it i would probably continue down the path of making the C5 a full track car
Still crazy to me every time I see or hear of people having Texas Speed stuff. My buddy is one of the two guys who created that company, and it always blows my mind to realize how big they really are
LOL at this comment. That's basically an empty engine bay. All sorts of ground issues now with my 04 GM Saab and...it's a bit more complicated. Replaced battery ground strap, but still have issues.
Well I'm fucking jealous. My brother just bought a 1969 Mach 1 with fresh paint and body work, matching vin rebuilt engine block and all interior parts…. For $20k. Rich old guy just wanted to get rid of it. When it’s complete it could easily get $70k
Almost bought another Vette yesterday but was told there would be a divorce following the purchase and I don’t think she was really joking around.
I hear ya on that one. C6 potential purchase got vetoed. Although I agree. Simply don’t have anywhere to keep it.
Going to try to finish up my part list for the clutch replacement today. my thoughts so far: LS7 clutch new flywheel (should I go aluminum? I want lightweight to offset the larger clutch) Torque tube rebuild kit New master and space cylinders Remote bleeder kit New seals for trans (my rear seal at output shaft is kinked and has a slow leak
