I was driving random roads slowly trying to figure out how to use the front lift and the different mangneride settings
LS is gold. Just unfortunate GM interiors from the 2000s look like shit (no offense, and the Vette ones aren't as bad as some).
Sorta at a (very expensive) resolution with all this: -One (LH) Arnott bag seems fine. -Other (RH) blew twice despite being properly installed. Indy won't let you bring parts, so he bought Bilstein bag. It's fine, just riiiiiich. I can get the 2nd Arnott bag back for a refund from RA. -About a year ago, I put in a new Arnott valve block. It's already failed. They won't refund, just replace, so CS rep told me to take it and resell. -Front SAM died, $1200 installed. I'm in the hole $3500 on the Benz so far this year. Otherwise super reliable car, but good lord.
Interior in the c8 is much nicer than I expected. Just got in floor mats as the natural tan carpet mats that came with would get destroyed quickly. Looking to dress up the engine bay now. Looking for lighting (just a normal light nothing wild), magneride covers, and to cover be space on the side of the motor. Hopefully they’ll have time to ppf and ceramic coat it all next week. Rides insanely good on softest setting around town with the magneride
People online aren’t lying about the z51 brake dust being a problem. Have washed the wheels three times and it just passed 200 miles. Stopped by my grandmother’s as she wanted to see it and she said it looks expensive…must have been 50k lol.
They do. I don’t need them. Haven’t been able to get ceramic done yet but that will make it easier to keep the wheels clean
I like keeping mostly factory stuff other than wheels in the future. I had red calipers originally but changed to black when allocation came up. Changed exhaust tips to black as well. There isn’t an orange caliper option from factory and the black works fine with the other black accents. It has orange seatbelts.
Finally dropped the c8 this morning for ppf, ceramic, and light window tint. Passed 500 miles and had the first service recently which was free and allowed the motor to reach redline. Revs were limited electronically during first 500 but still haven’t gotten on it
c/p from car buying thread Anyone sold a car lately personally? I have three times before, but much lower-line vehicles. This time, selling my 2011 Mercedes wagon. It's high mileage (150k) but just had the entire air suspension done, regular maintenance done, has new front brakes, AMG package, and has every option you could get that year aside from parking sensors, and distronic cruise. May list at $14k, want to get $12k. Just got it detailed, and am doing some other minor work. (The detail wasn't as good as I'd have liked, so I may re-do if it doesn't sell quickly.) Cosmetically, it's really good aside from the front diffuser being scraped (I have touch up paint) and two small door dings. Mechanically good, electronics need a little work (there's a headrest ABS sensor that throws a warning, but dealer/mechanic confirmed the airbags will all still work, etc., and it may need a new adaptive headlight (I am including a controller). A couple people suggested Cars & Bids since it's a really nice, unique spec, and the car is great. I'm not eager for that since I don't want to take 2000 pictures of it. Any thoughts? I'm not necessarily in a rush, but the prices to fix things now that I can't do are eyewatering, so I'm planning on cutting it loose.
Anyone who likes Jags feeling bold? Looks nice for age, lowish miles... https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/345922067785695/?mibextid=IouU6C
I just got a paint correction and 5 year ceramic coating done, completely worth it. Next is new wheels
Does it come with jorts and white New Balances? j/k, hope it's as you say. Aren't the hardtops all Z06s or something? I'm getting rusty on my Vette trivia.
I'm usually not a fan of the black wheels, but that looks super sharp, especially on that gen (which I think can look awkward sometimes).
Appreciate it. Everything seems to mesh with that car, just caught my eye. Wasn’t looking to by anything just saw it yesterday killing time at work. I think the Fixed roof Coupe looks a lot better than one with the Targa top because it has the shortened back glass and gives it a better stance.
idk where to ask this....but anyone sold a car to Carvana? Bought a car last December but we must have lost the title to one car in a move. Took a year to get a new title b/c the State is stupid and didn't send it and we're lazy. Finally got a new one. '08 Lexus IS with 130k miles. Thing should last for another 80k miles easily. Carmax? Carvana? Try to private sale it? Also, the battery died b/c it has been sitting. A normal jump should get it started then as long as the battery didn't corrupt, it should recharge itself after some driving or running....yeah?
You’ll always get more with a private sale, but you pay for the convenience with Carmax and Carvana. I was offered 15.5 for my Model S by Carmax which was insulting, and I sold it privately for 22.5. If you have the means, I always suggest a private sale. Get it detailed and post tons of pictures. I know nothing about Lexuses (Lexi?), but yes, you should be good as long as you can charge it enough to crank. The alternator will take over from there.
I'd think the 130k will hurt you real bad in the carvana carmax kinda sale People know those Toyota engines last forever and want them That car seems like a perfect private sale vehicle, imo Spend the $100 and put a new battery in it, last thing you want to do is have someone show up to look at it and you have to jump start it
I'm seeing '08 "listed" at nearly 10k at some used places around me with 135k miles. I was hoping to get like 5k. There is some slight paint deterioration, but I have to assume that is expected on a 15 year old car. I just I'll probably got to Carmax/Carvana and get a quote then see what I can do over the next month or so. I'm paying extra in car insurance, but that's it
Orher than exhaust I haven’t found anything aftermarket in it which is what I wanted. Only got 68k miles on it. Looks like it’s been really well taken care of.
Batter seemed to crank fine, let it run for an hour then drove it for 30 minutes. Started back up after I let it sit at autozone for 10-15 minutes. Now I've got to figure out how to sell it. Never done a personal sale before. Toss it on AutoTrader? FB Marketplace or Craigslist just seems to be scam central.
Figured I'd throw it up there and see. How did you validate the check was accurate? Call the bank of the person giving it to you? Do you just sign the title and give it to 'em?
My situation was a little different as I still owed some on the vehicle. We met at the financing bank for him to give them a check in the payoff amount. Then we went to my bank to deposit the check for the difference. Obviously the deposit was held for a couple days to validate the funds. I guess I felt ok about this because the guy buying from me was a pretty high profile dentist in the area, so I was confident he had the money and he could be easily reached if something went wrong. As far as title, just sign it and complete a bill of sale. The buyer will need that to transfer the title into their name.
Is that your place? Every once and a while the door is open and I see that SL. I secretly judge my kids on how excited (or not) they are when they look in there on the way back from school.
Did you stick with oem tire sizes or change it up? I have HREs with summer tires going on my car in the spring. I decided to stick with oem tire sizes though.
I was just curious. I was thinking of buying a rando Saturn Aura they had for dirt cheap last year as a daily, but never got a reply. Was very weird to me that they had that car anyway: not their clientele.
