To break away from the new car purchase thread and the suggestion of Tro lo lo , a new classic/joyride car thread as well as care care tips. Been working on a ceramic coating but can still see a few imperfections in the paint. Going to strip it all back down this weekend and put an Iron Remover on the paint and then do a 4 stage buff followed by a few days of ceramic coating again. I can still see a few spider webs in the paint in the sunlight that I think I can get out once it’s all stripped down.
Also helping a buddy do a frame off restore on a 66 GTO that is going to be amazing when it’s done and it’s getting close.
My dad has 4 old mustangs, ranging from 64 1/2 to a ‘78. Spent a not small amount of my child hood at car shows and cruise-ins. Old cars rule. I’ll try to find some pics if I can.
Yeah yours is nice as hell. This was my FIL’s that he passed down to my oldest. They used to enter it into car shows together all the time before he passed.
There’s the 64 1/2. It’s a VIN/build date matched first week of production car, absolutely gorgeous in the sun. And the ‘67 GTA with a peek at a Fox Body in the background.
Got a 93 Formula that I’m starting on next. Needs a new paint job and a little interior work but mechanically sound. Don’t have pics because it’s been under a cover but basically looks identical to this.
You should see my big ass try to squeeze into that thing and drive it anywhere. That’s why I’ve only put like 300 miles on it in the last 5.5 years
i looked into restoring my grandad's 1980 Ford F-100 Explorer Ranger but it turned out to be too rusted and poorly designed to be worthwhile
i own two of every classic car ever made (except triples of the barracuda, road runner, and the nova)
My fun car is a 2007 Porsche Cayman S Not quite a classic, but for $20k it’s one of the best fun:dollar ratios out there in a 6sd. Market is creeping up for these first generations, but there’s still good buys in the low 20s. If I were to do it over again I’d probably get a 2009 with the PDK automatic.
My first classic. Picked it up last summer. 1979 Fiat 124. Will probably get rid of it soon and move onto something a little bigger, because this is teenie, and I am a lanky mother fucker.
Recent purchase a couple months back. 1970 Chevelle. Had been wanting one for a few years at least, in hindsight I should've pulled the trigger back in 18 or 19 with where the price points were then, but here we are.
Grab some Poorboys World Nattys Paste Wax. Buffed it this morning and sealed it and then put this over the top. Stuff is unreal. Cost 25 for the bottle and I’ve had some I paid close to a 100 for that didn’t do as good.
Have a '71 Ford F100 Custom rust bucket. My dad drug it home from North Dakota a decade ago.. Rebuilt the carburetor on it last year but it still needs all sorts of work. Just been put on the backburner for a while now.
