For all we know that entire suit could be vibranium and he’s basically indestructible. And I wouldn’t guarantee Sharon is a skrull. They don’t really need to play the long con like she did. If they wanted CIA access they’d just become the director of the CIA day 1 on earth.
The flaw in the Sharon storyline is strictly due to covid Stepping away from serum as much as they can and then had to finish shooting(why she’s a bit thicker) and just wrap up the story.
This. I get that it looks like the comic costume but I'm not a fan of the bulkiness of Sam's Captain America suit
At this point, other than for comic book aesthetic reasons there's really no good explanation why Sam's new suit doesn't just work like a new Iron Man suit for protection (without the AI and weapons)
watched the show over the last day or so. i thought it was okay; preferred wandavision. really liked everything with Zemo, everything with Isaiah Bradley, everything with Bucky in therapy, and about 90% of Sam's stuff. very impressed with Disney (and their biggest brand) tackling institutional racism in such a direct way. disliked the conclusion to the story. why the fuck are bucky and sam fighting alongside the fake cap at the end? that took me out of the conclusion to the story. that guy just murdered someone two episodes earlier. they literally fought him to near-death one (or so) episodes earlier. was that a recut thing or was i just supposed to pretend that bucky/sam are going to be cool with him at the end? i had trouble with the series as a whole between that + the revolutionaries being unquestionably right. this isn't like BP where you understand and can even agree with killmonger but he's not necessarily facing evil.
Ending was good but I felt like that needed to be 2 episodes instead of 1. The aerial combat was great, the Isaiah Bradley part was great but a lot of other parts felt extremely rushed. Bucky's resolution with the old man needed way longer than 15 seconds, Karli's character arc and her group possibly having doubts about her going off the deep end and everything involving Sharon. You can really tell COVID fucked up their shooting schedule in a big way.
Wait wtf I just found out Emily VanCamp is married to the guy who voices Rufus Shinra in the FF7 remake.
shit, i forgot to mention ep 1 with the winged suit skydivers was silly. those dudes were flying through a canyon valley and then hopping into helicopters. all i could think about was the ESPN story about the wing suit diver that hit the bridge.
Because US Agent isn't an evil character. He never has been, just misguided. They needed to redeem him and fighting along side the new Cap and choosing to save lives over revenge was a great way to show that.
I enjoyed the show, Isiah Bradly Statue part... some man tears were shed. The way they handled Bradly's story was fantastic. Also Zimo making moves from prison. Everything about Sharon Carter's story makes sense. She should hate all those mother fuckers and only be in it for herself. Good for her As some have pointed out the suit is a bit bulky, but I'm sure it will look different once the Cap 4 movie rolls around.
well, it could be because i binged it rather than watching it on a weekly basis but there was no redemption at all to me. he killed a guy, stormed out of his military hearing when being discharged, fought bucky/sam... and then basically showed up and fought alongside the "good guys". i think at the end he even gives a shoulder pat to bucky with a, "see you around" goodbye. i needed more than an apology/explanation/condolences to his dead friend's parents for me to see him as good or someone that bucky/sam would want to be around. yeah, it was dumb as hell! it clearly didn't stop me from watching the show but that wasn't superhero stuff. if they jumped out of the plane riding a bicycle or something and were flying around, would you pass it off as "marvel show" stuff or would you comment on it being dumb.
You seemingly missed the part where he chose to save a bunch of people rather than pursue Karli and get his revenge It's fucking comic books. What a weird complaint.
Why would she have to be a skrull? What about her motivations don’t make sense? She was betrayed and left for dead by everyone she thought cared about her because she gave Cap his shield. Why wouldn’t she change like this? It’s been five years
She always agreed with Steve, at least in the movies. It is about justice, not patriotism. I would completely understand bitterness. Now she is all about the money and using the government for her own ends? And who was on the other end of that call? She's a Skrull. And it leads into Secret Wars perfectly. The God Feige would not set the stage if it wasn't the case for all the series to tie into each other.
The same Steve who also *checks notes* turned his back on her for Seven years. He never even checked on her. I forgot it's actually been 7 years and people think this person who was left for dead for almost a decade is a skrull because she realized all that bullshit she had been working for was in fact BULLSHIT. Karli and Sharon both said to Sam "Don't tell me you're actually falling for that crap" in reference to the shield and the Cap America mantle. Like this is one person who's complete change in persona is 100% justified. 7 years folks..... I'd personally be mad if she was a skrull. It would be lazy and I expect better than that. Especially since all the characters in this show have serious motives for their actions. Wouldn't make sense just to piss on all of that when it comes to Sharon.
I don't necessarily disagree, but we don't know if Steve turned his back on her for seven years. They could have been in contact that entire time, depending on how the the writers want to paint the picture. Also, she could have easily lost five years if she was one of the people who were lost to "The Blip." I just think her sudden, at least on film, shift in character leads to her being a different person. Hence the connection to Secret Wars.
There is no indication of any of that during her conversation with Bucky and Sam. Everything points to her being abandoned plus she never left during the blip. So she became the Power Broker in just 2 years and then disappears, comes back and then months later is the power broker again??????? Yeah I don't think so. Unless she pulled a Liara from Mass Effect and murdered the power broker and took that spot. Mind you that would require no one having ever seen the power broker
Again, I do not necessarily disagree with you. But Feige is a genius a playing the long game and tying everything together. And she is a fantastic actress in her role. What a better way to tie her character (and hopefully Justin Hammer) into Armor Wars and Secret Invasion?
I'm guessing the show is acting like she wasn't blipped, although this screenshot (spoilered for size) from EG suggests she was originally. Would make sense to retcon that and just say she was so far off the grid no one knew, though, just like they thought Ant-Man blipped but was stuck in the QR. Spoiler
If she was blipped we need way more background as to how the fuck she became one of the most powerful criminals on the planet in a few months
I thought it was good, not great. Preferred some of the middle episodes with Zemo to the finale. Taking Isaiah to the museum was the best part of the episode IMO.
My major issue with the series, and it’s not so much an issue as much of a wish, is that we did not get an Isaiah Bradley flashback scene.
-Thought the series was good, not great. Not anywhere close to the same level of WandaVision. -Enjoyed the introduction of characters that could lead to some cool stuff down the road (Dark Avengers, Thunderbolts?) -Agree that Sharon is a Skrull -Ready for Loki
Episode 4 and 5 were better than anything in WandaVision but WandaVision stuck the landing a lot better. The more I think about it, the less I like the finale, it had a couple of amazing moments, but like 75% of it felt rushed and needed another 1 or 2 episodes to develop further.
this, and this series was supposed to come before WV. So imagine your standard going into WV, and then realize how great that series is though.
I enjoyed WV more only because the world it's opening up is building more anticipation for me. I loved both shows for completely different reasons.
Looking back at the series in general, I don't think they did a nearly a good enough job of explaining the Karli character and showing us her experiences that led her to this point. The moment where it's Karli and Sam in the finale, and Sam says "I'm not going to fight you" would mean a whole lot more if we were actually shown (or told) some of the things about Karli that would make her more of a sympathetic/tragic figure. They want us to feel that way, but all they really show her doing is bad guy stuff throughout the series and her character doesn't end up being nearly as complex as I think they want us to think she is. I think overall one of the criticisms that's fair about the show is that we're not shown enough of the backstory for things like Karli and Isaiah to really land some of the things they tried to land at the end. You only get so much time and it's hard, but that's also one of the problems with trying to cover as things as they did here.
Sure but you can see some glaring issues with certain things in the last episode, like that Bucky and his old man buddy's scene only being 15 secs long, John Walker lying about Lemar's killer not even being mentioned again or how Lemar's sister looking at Walker like he was full of shit.
But regardless of how I feel about certain parts of the finale, I'm thankful that Feige had the balls to go *there* and actually bring up the issue of institutional racism in such a blunt way and resolving it with a black Captain America being the Cap we needed.
Assembled was great as always Absolutely love Malcolm Spellman back with Empire and now Hip Hop Uncovered He is also producing Cap 4
