Thread adjacent: anyone play Divinity 2? Just finishing my first play though. Game is yelling you’re a completionist like me.
Big fan of DoS2. Really fun replay value too. Been at least 5-6 years since I’ve played it. Remember the polymorph/pyro build being super fun. my biggest gripe was it was inefficient to mix physical with magic, always best to focus one or the other, seemed to really limit the builds/fun imo. Really my only major gripe. Minor gripe in act 2 was figuring out where the fuck I was supposed to go half the time. Always felt like I missed a ton of stuff.
Agreed, it’s a unique armor system. Finishing with a 4man team of: Poly-Warfare (phys) Ranger (phys) Pyro mage Hydro-Aero Looking at the Lone Wolf solo play through next.
I think iirc lone wolf allows a duo play through? That was by far my easiest play through with 2H builds but was stupid fun too.
Yep, the bonuses apply to solo play or 2man parties. Everything I’ve read says it’s balanced for solo, but duo lone wolf parties remove any challenge from the game.
Give me a mod to increase the encounter speed! Let me see the computer moves at 2x speed. I don't need to watch them waste time dashing around.
Downloaded and played a few fights in the fort. Put it down because after the me and mrs lau finish BG3 this is going to be our next couch coop and I don't feel like playing this one all the way through and then turning around and starting a new coop game like I did with BG3. one time run we'll figure it out on the fly. And we're going duo lone wolfs because I am absolutely certain that if we ever "got stuck" somewhere on a fight that was too tough she'd lose interest. At least this one we're going to play together on PC instead of console.
For Mods - I've found a good combination that uses Party Limit Be Gone but also ramps up the game difficulty enough that it's been perfect difficulty-wise through Act 1 and halfway through Act 2. The only fights that are lopsided are when there's 1-4 enemies, which are throwaway fights anyways. Mod Fixer ImprovedUI 5eSpells UnlockLevelCurve(13-20) UnlockLevelCurve_Patch_5eSpells Stronger Bosses (the version that includes Honour Mode features) TacticianPlusHealth (200%) TacticianPlusStats (Stats Base) Enemies Enhanced LethalAI Originally started the playthrough with the Tactician Stats mod version that was scaling, but the Stronger Bosses, Enemies Enhanced, and Lethal AI really do a great job of making all of the enemies stronger, and having the Scaling Tactician Stats ends up with like every enemy having 20+ AC which is dumb. The gigantic health pool makes up for the extra companions (I only run 6 because I hate Gale and I'm a much cooler wizz). Also like the Enemies/AI mods giving normal enemies more spells and cantrips, and they actually heal one another regularly and target the right people. Mods are great Inquisitor W'Wargazz having 344 HP was pretty brutal. Pretty much every major fight I have multiple people go down at some point. Maybe it'll get OP'er later and I'll have to bump up to 300% HP but right now 200% is exactly how hard I think the game should be on the highest difficulty.
Some of the new 5e spells that were added are pretty tight. Adding those definitely making my Sorc/Wiz playthrough more exciting and fresh
im going to check these out. i used an enemy scaling mod that seems to only change the bosses and thats not gonna work for a level 20 run.
TBH if they let you adjust the HP of enemies higher than the Tactician 30% that would have been an excellent feature. And it literally just changes one number in the entire game's code.
Apparently the Stronger Bosses also tunes some NPC health in the game. With the T+ bonus Isobel ended up with 375hp in the kidnapping fight
I'm planning on doing a run with a lot of those mods after I finish this honour run. I'm running into major issues, though. Every time I go into the grove, they randomly say I've betrayed them and they become hostile and kill all the vendors. It has happened about 4 or 5 times and it's during a different conversation each time. At least I can make it back to that point in the story quick, but it's getting really annoying
I have not yet played above balanced, I’m still working my way through, but I’ve read that on Honor mode you can’t cast “friends” or various other “charm” spells because they’re considered hostile acts as soon as they wear off
Yea if you cast Friends during a conversation with someone to get that advantage on the skill check, you better run away quickly afterwards before it wears off. I think you get 60 seconds: 1 "turn" in non-turn based mode is 6 seconds real-time, so factor that in for casting stuff/elixers that are turn based duration
different energy altogether. true strike is just bad. friends though? friends is great, unless you read that last sentence.
Just used a hireling for the first time. To get my dude unstuck from a damn genie lamp. also wasn’t expecting to get to bang mizora
I'm about 45 hours in and only a couple hours into act 2. I didn't hit level 6 until the fight with the giant spider thing and the fight with Leopold in the Last Light Inn took me about 6 tries because I think I wasn't as high of a level as I should have been.
I genuinely don't know what. I chose the underdark path instead of the mountain path so I never explored too far west past the goblin camp/temple. I got the dragon sighting over there once but I assumed you only went that direction if you were taking the mountain path. Did I miss some shit over there?
I apparently missed a lot of stuff on my first play through. I’m like what hag is everyone talking about?!?
yeah the messaging is lame because they make it seem like going to the mountain pass ends act 1 but there’s an area there with the Githyanki Crèche and going to it does not in fact end act 1
Bet that's it. Similar to going into the underdark path doesn't end act 1 until you actually take the elevator down. Welp...next time.
IIRC you should still be able to go to it in act 2 and if you do not Lae’zel will threaten to leave the party after awhile
Fun story: I didn't rescue her from the cage at the crash site because I didn't know how so she's never been in my party. It was my understanding you can't go back to act 1 once you start act 2 though.
that’s impressive. you didn’t feel the urge to walk by the large black spot and see what’s there on the map? maybe I have some game add but I gotta open up the entire map
I missed tons of stuff because I just went in and starting killing goblins and when I went to wyrms Rock it was all out war
I have no idea. I carried that lantern everywhere and met Jaheria at the siege of moonlight tower. I was just focused on finding the Nightsong. I was very disappointed that I missed lifting the curse
Update: Reddit tells me I'm still at a point in act 2 where I should be able to fast travel back and do the mountain pass content Will try today.
I know I missed quite a bit because I don’t have access to a couple companions I see people talk about.
A fun fact about the hag is that she sells 3 hill giant elixirs (and some health potions) that reset on every long rest. I’ve been avoiding ASI increases on martial classes by being her friend. And she provides some other benefits/negatives that aren’t as straight forward
So I was able to go back and am currently running roughshod over the Gith Temple. Late’zeal is finally in my camp but probably won’t be joining my party anytime soon at this rate…
