Wasn’t the most exciting episode but it was needed to move the plot forward. Can’t wait to watch Thrawn dissect Ahsoka. Remember he was one of the few that knew that Vader was Anakin.
Filler episodes in an 8 episode season are sometimes necessary but also annoying because I want to see what happens next and I don't want to wait a week.
Do we think the rest of the story takes place in this new galaxy? Or do they all make it back somehow and finish it there? Kind of hoping they resolve the Thrawn thing where they are now but I'm guessing they go back and we see more of Hera and that storyline play out with Thrawn supporters in the government being traitors and whatnot. Also would be kind of shocked if Zeb doesn't show up somewhere just to complete the Rebels return after he was in Mando for 5 seconds.
Don’t think they built up thrawn this long across mando and this series and the rebels ending / cliffhanger to resolve him over 3 eps he’s probably the lynchpin of at least one more season of content
I heard a theory on a nerd cast that they threw Zeb in that Mando scene to explain where he’s at right now so they wouldn’t have to animate him this entire series. They’ll save that for the movie. With as well received and popular this is I wouldn’t be shocked if they announce a Mando 4 or Ahsoka 2 or Thrawn series before they get to the movie(s).
Right just meant they were loading up caskets from the catacombs. Wonder who it is. Zombie stormtroopers is a nice touch.
I think Baylon is looking for some ancient force related source of power. a portal to the WbW or Mortis or something else from Jedi lore.
Haven’t watched rebels or clone wars Generally think more Star Wars movies than not have been cringey to somewhere near awful but this and andor have been fn awesome. makes me wonder how the messed up Boba Fett so badly
I think this is probably correct. I just want a bunch of action with Ahsoka, Sabine and Ezra and don't think I want to see any of the Hera/politics stuff. Or to spend these episodes setting up other shows or seasons. This is Ahsoka's story and I want the last two episodes to be about her as much as possible.
Enjoyed the episode. I don't know enough about Star Wars to know what the witches really do or what they're there for.
Glad to see more Star Wars content delving into the Witches of Dathomir. Always found them interesting.
Clone Wars had a fair number of episodes with them as central plot points, but even with those I couldn't tell you much about them beyond which characters were in their little group. And I don't think any of them from the show are still alive at this point. So, basically, we are same.
I find Baylon endlessly fascinating. It's a shame we likely won't get anymore of his character after this.
Godammit. I've never really liked Thrawn. Never really cared about him at all. Stupid "I'm so smart and calculating, I see every possible angle" supervillain bullshit. Now combine that with him looking like Elon and I don't think I could dislike him any more.
Kind of a clone war spoiler even though I’m not done with it. Spoiler So Maul got halved in episode 1 movie but he survived on a planet until his “brother”, who the witches made from his dna, came and found him. The witches restore Maul’s legs with some new robot ones and he goes onto become the crime lord of the galaxy. At least that’s as far as I got into it in clone wars. The witches are tied to him.
Dude's been killed twice at this point! At this point of the story, he's been dead for like 20 years. But also, Spoiler
the way they've layered the in the subplot of Baylan's intentions over the main plot of Thrawn and Ezra has been so so good. it was also interesting to see the look on Morgan's face when Thrawn said they would eliminate Baylan and Shin.
gritzy got me addicted to these ScreenCrush videos and now I'm sitting here refreshing his youtube page waiting for the new one to pop up.
Just watching that episode I feel like there are so many different ways the Baylan/Shin story goes. That relationship is interesting to me in how trusting and dependent she seems to be with him. Especially in that episode. And he could either be super close to her or just be using/manipulating her for her power.
Her reaction when she found out he was going to betray Sabine was interesting. Almost like she flinched for a moment.
The tone of those scenes between them just had a different vibe than some of the others from earlier in the season, IMO. Felt kind of Palpatine/Anakin-ish.
The Thrawn part of this story is kind of weird to me. And I don't mean the mechanics of him coming back or whatever, which are absurd but it's Star Wars and TV so I don't really care. Ahsoka is the only one who seems afraid of him returning and she doesn't even know him or anything about him, really. He doesn't even know who she is at the end of this episode. That seems weird. Who plans a coup based on the word of some witch about a dream she had from some other witches of where to find this guy who vanished 10 years ago? There's no way there is some massive force ready to align with him if/when he returns. And why is Thrawn such a threat to the galaxy as a leader when he was ultimately taken down when a group of like 12 people defeated his force of what had to be at least 100k and the entire blockade around Lothal? That doesn't look great on the resume. I get that he's really smart and made life more difficult than what they were dealing with before he arrived for Rebels, but his part of the story to this point doesn't really land for me.
Or how Sabine so easily found Ezra but apparently Thrawn could not with his army of techmo storm troopers
That seemed more like Thrawn just let Ezra go do his thing out in the wasteland. Thrawn knows there's bandits and just general dangers for an individual, and the odds of Ezra dying out there are WAAAAAAY higher than Ezra getting back on Thrawn's ship
Thought it was pretty funny that this entire new galaxy is reduced to one planet. That Ezra, alone and disoriented, would stay for years on the same planet as Thrawn.
Hopefully whatever this mystery is that Baylon is looking for is interesting. Going to be somewhat disappointing if we barely see any of this unknown galaxy.
He hitched a ride on Thrawn's Star destroyer when the purrgil snatched it up, How was he supposed to get anywhere else?
How is that planet in another galaxy? I thought Dathomir was just on the outer rim of the original galaxy?
They're not on Dathomir. This is apparently the planet the witches originated on before moving to Dathomir.
Gonna disagree here, they just showed us a whole planet basically run by loyalists, and we’ve seen the First Order rise to power happens not too far in the future so I think there are plenty of people unhappy with the new republic ready to follow someone to war.
yea feels like they've been setting up the fact that there's basically a shadow gov't prepping for his return.
I guess I worded that poorly. The show is setting up the scenario that Thrawn comes back and starts a war and has all these forces at his disposal. I didn't mean to suggest it's not. My point is that it makes no sense to me that 10 years after he vanished and 5+ years after the Empire went away there would be this massive force waiting on this particular person to return when no one can even sure he's still alive. Or why Ahsoka specifically would be so afraid of it. They haven't been communicating with him directly, it would seem. Why would a force like that be waiting for years on this specific scenario for this person instead of rallying behind someone (anyone) else from the old guard? We heard it in that council hologram meeting in Mando s3 where it's not like everyone in that group was sold on the concept, and one would think that would be the group most likely to be loyal there.
Probably just tie Morgan to the council and that’s how they get their fleet with Thrawn leading it. Did we ever learn who was building the hyperspace loop? I can’t remember
