Schrager said he anticipated 10 trades this first round. I'm just ignoring all the rumors. if 6 QBs are taken, 4 teams will end up really sad.
getting a rookie vs an aging WR is definitely a win. whether is will lead to different outcomes in January is TBD. And although we had Diggs, we didn't have an offense that revolved around Cook and Kincaid until later in 2023.
sure, im more just anti his point in that video that Odunze is the key that means they win in january
that wasn't his point. His point is that they are motivated to make the move in light of where they are as a franchise and their inability to get over the hump in the playoffs. Miller wasn't predicting playoff success if they make that type of trade.
Stuff like "Bills would move heaven and earth to get Odunze!" is such hilarious clickbait. Their only chance at him is him falling AND them trading up... Or them trading a ridiculous amount of capital over the next 3 drafts which is not happening unless they are actually drunk. 1st Round WRs are generally useful, but so are 2nd round WRs and even 3rd Rounders
the above mock draft has him falling to 15. I've seen a few people talking about Odunze and Brian Thomas falling a bit. Probably smoke, but if Rome falls into the teens, they could make that trade.
I feel like every year they project a high amount of QB’s to be taken in the first round and it never ends up being the case
I don’t see a ton of value in trading up for any of like the 4 real elite top tier WRs. So I fully expect the chiefs to trade up for a second tier WR and then he will get caught funding a huge Ponzi scheme and go to federal prison then Mahomes wins the Super Bowl with the rugby dude as his WR1
have no idea if the guy is legit or not, he posted some tweets where he called Colts moves/picks in advance in the past, he said the Colts would trade down slightly and take BTJ so
Bowers, Latham, Mims, Fuaga, Fautanu, Mitchell, Arnold, Murphy, Newton Just give me one of them at 18.
Latham over Alt is wild to me. DJ does radio for the chargers so maybe he is onto something Also Latu going at 27 in DJs mock but surging is the betting market is (head scratch)
Would assume it's a style thing because Latham is more Harbaugh-ish with the run blocking. Either way, I get that the first pick under a new regime is supposed to be some kind of tone setter or whatever, but the Chargers sticking at 5 and not taking advantage of the crazy WR talent in this draft seems insane to me. You have a bunch of other picks to set your tone, and you can find a lot of "Harbaugh guys" in the last 6 rounds. Go get yourself a game changer at 5.
he explained it on the Russillo pod that he could see them taking the biggest, baddest mauler to do what MG2 mentioned about tone setting.
https://www.nfl.com/news/daniel-jeremiah-2024-nfl-mock-draft-4-0 This is where we could potentially see a trade, but I'm going to take the Chargers at their word that they want to be a more physical team and improve their run game. It might be a little bit of a surprise to see Latham go before Joe Alt, but the former Alabama star is ready to rock at right tackle and is a more powerful blocker than his Notre Dame counterpart.
I overlooked Xavier Worthy to SF. That would be an awful fit with what Shanahan asks of his receivers.
seems silly to have a premium pick (especially premium given the QBs) and use it on a "need" instead of BPA. and i don't even think RT is that much of a need relative to some other positions (WR, DL, LB, CB, interior OL). i'm excited for whatever, though. if it's a RT and they truly can build a dominant, physical run game --- that's cool!
It's not even that people are calling the "need" a RT. The "need" seems to be "OL because HARBAUGH". And maybe they go that route, but it just seems weird.
DJ had a trade of 36 and 40 to the Rams for their 1st and 3rd and select Mims Think I’d like it as Mims should be OT1 but red flags
My Packers wishlist Round 1: Barton, DeJean, Mims, Guyton Round 2: Cooper, Morgan, Polk, Melton, Tampa, Robinson, Keneeland, Paul, Round 3: Bishop, Hicks, Hart, Dorlus, Braelon Allen, Jaylen Wright, Yale OT,
I also think when teams are classified as needing everything, drafting an OL is by default the most sensible thing. 95% of the time that is probably true but this might fall into one of the times that is not the case. And it also aligns with the overall strength of the draft class as a whole.
It's weird for me as a Michigan/Lions fan because obviously I have a history with Harbaugh and now the Chargers are being talked about exactly like people talk about the Dan Campbell Lions when it comes to the draft. People are acting like they can only draft the most footbally FOOTBALL GUYS.
you're giving me flashbacks to when the Pats drafted Logan Mankins in the 1st round and the only thing the "experts" could say at the time was "Guys he is just a FOOTBALL PLAYER"
I'm looking forward to finally giving a shit about the draft again next year. Hope we come away with a decent WR/DT/LB at whatever pick we have in round 2. Would be happy with Mason Smith, Michael Hall, Keon Coleman, Xavier Worthy, Troy Franklin, Junior Colson, or maybe an OT. So we'll probably take some corner I've never heard of from a G5 team that went .500 Would like to see us nab an RB in the mid rounds too.
wish list for the chargers: - if staying at #5, draft MHJ or Nabers and take advantage of that premium pick - if trading down with Minnesota, draft OL/CB/DT at 11 and 23 something like Latham at 11, Newton at 23, and McConkey/Mitchell at 37 would be great imo. then need CBs, LBs, DL, and a RB later in the draft.
so all i want is ola or fautanu to fall to the saints at 14. But there is no chance in the world that loomis does not trade up
If Bucs had the choice between Jared Verse, Laiatu Latu, Jackson Powers-Johnson, I'd be pretty thrilled. Although I think Powers-Johnson would be my preference in that scenario.
