I remember being quite nervous throughout this game and this play in particular while watching it over 20 years ago at the local BM3 ;)
I honestly don't think the rivalry matters that much, to fans outside of football. Always want to beat UM in everything, but guessing nobody gets too upset if we lose to them in basketball.
That night is probably the craziest I have ever seen downtown Cincinnati. The Ohio State game was played at Paul Brown with a sell out. The last baseball game at Riverfront the next day, and it was a record turnout for Oktoberfest after the OSU game. My wife had her 10 year high school reunion on a barge on the Ohio River and the Reds were hosting a reunion on the floor below it. My wife went to an all girls school, so most of the guys did not know each other. I convinced the spouse of one of my wife’s friends to crash the Reds party with me, for about 15 minutes before they kicked us out.
I’m not rooting against Hayden and I think he has the potential to be special if he can figure out how to block but a RB that cannot block whatsoever just seems like the most Colorado thing possible right now. That team sucks
I don't think people in here realize how bad Colorado was pre-deion in 2022. They were light years improved in 2023. They went 1-11 in 2022, the one win was in OT and 10/11 losses were by 4+ scores, and the 11th they were down 22 late in the game. In 2023 they played a much harder schedule against 6 ranked teams and went 4-8 with 5 of those losses being 1 score games.
My opinion is that is has much more to do with the revolving door over there. To think they'll have any chemistry is being wildly optimistic.
I’m not sure what that has to do with the fact that they’re still not good. They’re no longer one of the worst teams in FBS, they’re making progress. Don’t think anyone said otherwise and is very aware of the progression. But they’re still not good
They aren’t competing for a playoff spot, but 5.5 wins as an over on a 12 game Big 12 schedule is very doable.
Google tells me that the Spring transfer portal closes on 4/30. I thought we would have more leaving by now.
Seen multiple reports out there now that our wrestling coach Tom Ryan was in a car that was struck by a semi and is in surgery with multiple fractures in his legs and hip.
I don't think we'd need him, but I wonder if the staff kicks the tires here again. I believe he flipped from us on signing day.
College baseball would be so much better if it basically wasn’t a winter sport. It seems like something I could potentially have interest in but it seems like midwestern schools can’t hang with the southern and west coast schools Can’t really blame kids for not wanting to play college baseball in the Midwest during February
I can’t really remember all the details but I worked with an electrician that was a Mississippi State fan and based off the pictures he showed me apparently their tailgates are nuts.
Someone mentioned Terry Glenn in the draft thread and I went down a rabbit hole on old stories. I remembered this one from 2002: https://www.espn.com/magazine/vol5no14glenn.html Lived with his grandmother as his mom was in and out of jail. Grandma dies of diabetes when he’s 11. Alcoholic mother murdered when he was 13. No relative would take him, so he ended in the the foster system. Landed with his HS football coach at 15. Dyslexic, he walked on at OSU. Then he just blew up out of nowhere in 1995.
Wasn’t he also terrified of flying and needed to get waivers to drive to games versus flying?!? I swear it was Terry Glenn.
