Boland & American Aquarium November 20 (tomorrow) at Neighborhood Theatre McMurtry & Isbell November 27 at Visulite Theatre (Saw Drive-by Truckers there, classic venue)
get a little adam hood & liquor goin and it should all be gravy. by the way, im pretty sure i remember you being a north mississippi allstars fan but i was in new orleans last week for the florida/lsu game and luther (lead singer) was playing a solo show at a little record store in the quarter. was just walking by the store and saw a sign for it later that day, it was awesome, he was shredding and his voice is just as good as it is on the records
yeah love them and so good live. they're playing with jason isbell in memphis over thanksgiving, pretty excited about that.
nice let me know how it is, not going to make it. American Aquarium is opening for them and they're one of my favorite new bands so check them out too
Stoney is in town on Saturday night, then Boland is here in November sometime. I went to the Chris Young show last night (not my choice, the g/f wanted to see him) and he wasn't terrible. Justin Haigh opened for him and he was pretty good, I liked quite a few of his songs.
solid CD, definitely better than Moving On. Really like White Trash Story "The Deuce," Double Wide Dream, and Give You a Ring, but all the songs on the album are great.
older band, like early 90s, but I just heard them for the first time this week. Uncle Tupelo, good shit.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPNFMdOWk68 Been jamming to these guys a lot lately.. Phil Hamilton and The Backroad Drifters
uncle tupelo is the shit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wT1EbMTqYek son volt is one of my favorite bands too, jay farrar has some solo stuff out now too so you can really get into them haha
Uncle Tupelo was basically their high school band. Jeff Tweedy was a kid when they were playing and then egos happened and they don't like each other anymore. Tweedy went on to form Wilco, and Jay Farrar formed Son Volt. Pretty funny video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukOEXaGIQLw&feature=related
Really like Uncle Tupelo.. Just started listening to him.. Is his album Not Forever Just For Now any good? Just downloaded it off the internet
http://www.mediafire.com/?yjifz2jkmjw Thats the website I downloaded it from.. First 2 songs are legit
Never heard of that one. Sounds like some sort of compilation, as that's one of their more notorious lines. No Depression is pretty much credited as the birth of alt-country. Great album.
In 2 weeks I'll be seeing Micky and the Motorcars/Reckless Kelly on saturday and Roger Creager on Sunday
Ahh shit my bad......Creager is at Evening Muse. Micky and the Motorcars and Reckless Kelly are at Neighborhood Theatre.
Every year for Homecoming some of the frats get bands to play outside their houses when people are looking at the house decorations. One of the frats had Rich O'Toole playing this year, but they really didn't advertise or spread the word at all. I was pretty disappointed when I was walking and heard him and got close enough to see it was actually him
- click on the album you want. - click on the "aqui" link uner the album - dwnload file from the server - the password for all the files is "seddemusica"
What I always find hilarious is the actual sound quality from the 1st album to subsequent albums. You can tell labels will spend more money on studio production.
Not sure if these guys have been mentioned yet or not, but JB and The Moonshine Band is fantastic. You can get their album on seddemusica.
My boy has a new single "Mississippi Moon" out for his new album coming out beginning of next year I believe. Anyhow, here it is, hope y'all enjoy http://soundcloud.com/robbairdmusic/mississippi-moon
actually, forgot to add one of the new singles he released. "Mississippi Moon" is #40 on the charts right now (after a couple weeks). The other is called "Slow Down Baby" They're both on itunes if interested http://soundcloud.com/robbairdmusic/slow-down-baby
I just haven't heard any of his music in a probably 5 years and didn't realize he was still actively making new stuff. Nothing against him though.
Just found out Stoney LaRue, Reckless Kelly, and Micky and the Motorcars are playing a show together in Memphis while I'm home for Thanksgiving. Been trying to see all 3 of these guys for years, but something always comes up. What a badass lineup for one night. So pumped. If I have another conflict, I'll be extremely upset.
Seeing Corey Smith at the Wormy Dog in OKC Friday, Ryan Bingham later this month at Winstar Casino, and Pat Green at Billy Bobs in December. Nice little threesome to end out the year.
Corey is playing in Stillwater tomorrow night. I was pumped to go because I figured it'd be good, but they're charging $20, which I don't understand because Randy was only $10 last weekend. Not sure if anyone will want to go see him that bad tomorrow
do y'all like Corey Smith a lot? I've seen him live a couple times, but he just doesn't do it for me. I can only take him in doses. I feel like all his songs sound the same and he's trying too hard to be James Taylor. Not a bad musician, just my opinion.
