They had the free bet at the Paris table I was playing but it wasn’t a requirement to play. I’ve played at the Golden Nugget on some BJ tables that require a dollar for the free bet just to play. Edit add on: the GN one was for a bonus bet on hitting BJ and it was a spin that pretty much got the minimum every single time. None of the dealers had seen or heard of anybody winning the jackpot on it.
Ellis island is supposed to have $5 bj but I don’t know if that holds true for event weekends nor seen it in person.
The first time I went to Vegas was for the first weekend of March Madness like 10 years ago. Had fun, didn’t really have anything to compare it to. Now that I’ve gone back during football season or in the spring, I don’t know if going during MM is really worth it because of how overpriced everything is. I guess if you can find a way to post up watching games all day it wouldn’t be bad but that’s hard to find in MM too. Maybe go once for the “experience” but that’s about it.
Yeah we have been going yearly since 2013 or so. This was probably our last year, we'll head to Tahoe or somewhere else next year.
I dislike Vegas for sports in general. I’m not an avid “must watch all games” type of viewer l. When I watch I generally like to pay attention, have clear sound, etc. My microscopic attention span just doesn’t mesh with doing that in a sports book setting. Same goes for bars and large watch parties. Add that to inflated prices on big sports week/ends and it’s a big no from me.
That's how I am too mostly. When I’ve gone in the fall it’s alright because other than the Husker game I don’t really have anything else that’s considered a “must watch” so if I catch bits and pieces it’s good with me. I went to the Huskers 1st round game last weekend by myself and I had this old lady next to me who was super nice but wouldn't stop talking to me. Since we laid an egg it was whatever but after the fact I was so annoyed because I feel like I remember maybe 5 minutes of the game lol just can’t multitask great while watching games.
For Nebraska athletics, I want to sit in a small setting with few distractions. Anything else I need as much as possible. Like I can have my tablet open, laptop open and be scrolling one phone and playing solitaire on the other phone. Vegas sports book are perfect for me. But I’ve figured out a nice routine with masters weekend and maybe my birthday.
I am thinking that there is a relatively cheap place to post up and drink/people watch on the strip. Beer garden of sorts. No clue what it is called or where it is. Does this place exist?
could be what I was thinking of. Do you need reservations? I’m just wanting a place to drinks some beers with great people watching ability/views that we can randomly show up at during the afternoon randomly
It looks like they take reservations, but I can’t imagine it would be much of an issue to just show up. I can’t think of anything else besides there and mon ami gabi that have decent outdoor people watching views of LVB. Maybe PBR rock bar or Cabo wabo at planet Hollywood?
Yes. The cvs next to park MGM is always my go to They have buffalo trace for normal price which is not even a thing here
If you like country music we went to Blake Sheltons new bar, it has outdoor balconies and good people watching on the strip. Band that was there was pretty mid tho also, I have to admit I always just assumed the NYNY roller coaster was corny, but that shit is fun af. It’s turned into a must visit every time for me
Needs to be metal or plastic, otherwise, sure. I do Walgreens or CVS early in the mornings. Usually grab a Red Bull or other energy drink type thing and a tall boy of whatever beer sounds good and take a stroll in the early morning quiet to breakfast.
If you combine walmart and vegas for people watching then go to cheeseburger in paradise and sit outside. The area around the linq has some outside bars too that are tourist traps but good for feeling better about yourself. Gamble at O’Shea’s if you’re in that area. Old Vegas/Freemont tends to have some top-tier people watching also. Day drinking, cheaper tables, and casual fun.
I'd never step in there but think it might be the equivalent of going to a bar on Broadway in Nashville. Shitty country covers and over the top Bachelorette parties where everyone gets some dick regardless of marital status
This isn’t far off, but the place is so big that it was easy to walk up to the bar and get drinks and find spots to hang out. Way better than Nashville in that regard
Beer Park’s centralized location is great and they have quite a few TVs if you’re trying to watch games. I remember it being notably more expensive though. Went to Brew Dog my last trip and it was a few months after it opened. We didn’t get any food but they were out of like half the beers on the menu and service was spotty at best. The view at night is pretty cool since you’re on the end of the strip and looking down and higher up.
Bar I like is just outside of NyNy. Good inside outside spot with some bar games, not overly expensive.
A decade ago that roller coaster was $10 Million annual profit for NYNY. I’ll assume it takes in more now.
One time I was walking from Fremont street back to work on Stewart between Fremont Casino and the gift shops and just as I was getting to Ogden I glanced over to see a lady take a shit right out on the concrete by the palm trees next to the parking garage https://maps.app.goo.gl/v6o2gddwU1dMDY1f9?g_st=ic
Went a couple weeks ago for my bachelor party and I’m pretty sure Fremont street was everyone’s favorite night by far
Lots of memories at the gold spike and main entrance bar inside Fremont (which I think has since been removed) from my days of working downtown LV.
Fremont St is a shit hole but hey at least circa is there now and the Fremont and Golden Nugget have renovated. But it definitely attracts a unique set of people from all walks of life.
Haven’t been in my last few trips. Do they still have the circles and timers for the tip hustlers? That was extremely funny when they first started locking them into a little circle and making them rotate every like 15 minutes.
Was there a couple years ago and they had the circles for sure. Didn’t see timers but didn’t realize this was a thing to look for lol
So, OMG regarding Absinthe! We went a few years ago and enjoyed it. The current show is much more risqué and funnier!

I bought a tin of Zyn there for like $7, I couldn't believe it wasn't double that. Surprisingly very reasonable prices.
I went for my first time a few weeks ago. I didn't love Fremont St but part of that could have been due to the fact that there was a buttrock festival in town that drew like 100k people and many of them were not my cup of tea. I'm pretty sure they all stayed in those hotels because they were fucking everywhere on Fremont.
