I despise Phish and everything jam band or jam band-adjacent, but my good friend has tickets to Phish at the Sphere in April and invited me. Strongly leaning towards it just for the experience. Clown Baby Oranjello
Jam bands are the only thing worse than mainstream country music. But attending a show is a small price to pay to be in one of the best food cities in the country and have a chance to hit up Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area
I did it in October for a buddy’s bachelor party. I enjoyed it. A few standout moments. Overarching theme is humans are killing the planet and we’re all going to die. I probably enjoyed walking around the concourse more during the preshow. However, I was on acid. My sober friends seemed indifferent. I will say we went to the first showing, which seemed way easier to get in. The crowd leaving the first show made it a mess for the second show to get in.
They sell beer and cocktails. There are interactive/high tech exhibitions in the concourse area preshow. I’d say the actual film is about an hour. Probably less.
Any other bachelor party highlights you’d recommend? I’ve been to Vegas a bunch but going to my first bachelor party there in March and trying to think of things to do with a group of 8
We were a group of 12. Thursday night was sphere. Friday was tpc Las Vegas (expensive for what the course was imo). Friday night was Delilah’s. Saturday was circa pool and old Vegas. Saturday night was Omnia. Previous bachelor parties have been about the same. Pool parties. Sportsbook. Day trip to old Vegas. One nice dinner. Maybe look at meow wolf? I’ve done the Santa Fe and Denver locations with friends and we had fun. However, we partake in psychedelics which alters things.
Also went on a bachelor party trip where we did desert dune buggies (not me- I was convinced I was on a heater at a roulette table in harrahs and couldn’t leave. I was in fact not on a heater).
Im going to be there during conference championship week in March which tournament would you want to go to most: WAC, mountain west, big west, or PAC
What Nole0515 said. If everyone wants steak then Jean George’s. Carbone is good for groups because it’s family style sharing. Make sure one of the entrees is Vodka Rigatoni.
Whenever I stayed at Aria right away upon arrival I go to Javiers for margs, guac, and tacos. It's not a destination restaurant but always hits the spot to start things off
Javier’s is fantastic. I’m not sure how it would be for a group of 8. The seating has little space between tables, it’s always full and it can be kinda loud.
To expand on this the servers are going to push family style sharing if you’re with a group. If that’s not what you want just be prepared for the servers to push back a little. I love Carbone but that’s my only complaint. I’ve been just 2 of us and I’ve been in a group. When I went in a group we didn’t want family dining and the servers kept insisting on it when we told them several times we wanted to order individually. Other than that it’s 10/10
Yeah I think every time it was one of a) half of the group is already there and gambling but I need a drink and something in my stomach that's easy, or b) we are waiting for others to arrive and need a drink and something in my stomach that's easy before getting started.
Caeser's isn't giving me any comps for a January stay, but MGM which I barely played at when I was in Vegas is giving me free nights at Aria. So looks like who I know I am switching to.
I don't gamble much at all but mgm always is comping my stays. Think it helps mgm has the best restaurants so we put up numbers that way by billing them to the room even when we aren't in our hotel.
What places do you like on MGM properties? My buddy is a big Caesers guy so we had a comped Nobu. Our sushi chef remembered us from the year before, so I am not sure if that's a complement or a sign of how much we ate and off menu stuff we had lol.
Best friend. Bavette. Carbone. Din tai fung. Momofuku. That whole Cosmo food scene is good. I believe Cosmo stuff is all mgm rewards now
Love Din Tai Fung. Reasonable prices and good opportunity to try lots of stuff if you’re with some people.
I’m an unapologetic Aria shill. You’re going to love it. How long will you be there? Javier’s has the best Mexican on the Strip. Blossom the best Chinese. Carbone the best Italian. Julian Serrano the second best Spanish tapas. Jean George’s is one of the best steak houses. The outdoor patio at Salt & Ivy is one of the best. Cathedrale is a fantastic dining experience. Bardot Brasserie has the best Saturday and Sunday brunches. Din Tai Fung for Pan-Asian, and Lemongrass for Thai. All of the bars and lounges are excellent, although I don’t recommend the Baccarat Bar anymore due to the exorbitant prices. Nearby, the Cosmopolitan has a first class food & beverage program. Everything there is recommended. In particular Jalio has the best Spanish tapas. Beauty & Essex is a gem. On the 2nd level of Chandelier Lounge ask for The Verbena cocktail …it’s not in the menu. At The Park MGM: Bevette’s for steaks. The entire Eataly area is worthwhile visiting. Best Friend for Korean. Primrose for breakfast. At La Pizza e La Pasta ask for outdoor dining. At the Waldorf Astoria, next to Aria, the 23 Lounge has great night views of the Strip. At The Delano, the Skyfall Lounge at the top of the hotel has an outdoor area which has unparalleled views of the Strip. I’m not too familiar with venues at MGM Grand and Bellagio, but other posters here can attest to them.
good chance it's cold/chilly. avg high is 73. I've played golf at the March and the high temp was 50* with the wind blowing 20mph+
we went last year. Was a blast. We were placed on the guest list but it got all fucked up and we ended up just walking in with no one stopping us.
Doing our usual pilgrimage for first/second round. What is the best steakhouse? Got reservations at Golden Steer but I feel like getting Vegas info is so tainted by influencers who get paid, so I have no idea if it’s actually good.
Guess that works if you want an old school Vegas steakhouse. But I’ve grown tired of seeing their shit on ig
yeah, it’s everything that pops up searching on social media. We’ve done a couple others and they were all mediocre. Any other recs?
Heading out to Vegas with the wife this summer. Using airline points so I can pretty much stay at any casino for free. Think we’ve narrowed it down to Venetian, Bellagio, resorts world, or Aria. Any recommendations on those or others? Also, ideas for things to do outside of Vegas. Looking to go to Grand Canyon and do kayaking. Will get a round of golf in somewhere. Thinking about heading up to wolf creek.
cant speak to Resorts World or Venetian but Aria is a good property rooms just need updating as they're 15 years old now. Bellagio rooms just got remodeled and is a great central location between Caesars and Cosmo.
I’ve heard resorts world is having some major difficulties at the moment. Could potentially impact amenities, what’s open, etc. Bellagio was fine last year, but it wasn’t as top-tier a hotel experience as it’s been made out to be. Busy and aging. Love Aria, heard rooms are feeling a little worn in some cases. If I were going and comps weren’t in play Venetian or Palazzo would be my next stay, I think.
