Had to be based on that framed photo of them in the restaurant where Richie was staging btw that hostess was mirin’ she definitely wanted Richie
Just did this. i needed a cigarette and 8 xanax after 6. then in some way episode 7 was a cigarette and 8 xanax. two perfect episodes of tv for so wildly different reasons back to back. absolutely wild.
Other quick notes: Yea Claire was a device for some added tension sure, but she also ended up being a lot more imo. I see no issue with her on the show. Love all the Copenhagen porn. Top tier city…. when the weather isnt completely shitty. the dude crashed on his bike was weird lol. Pete and Donna scene in ep 10. jesus christ that was fucking hard to watch. incredible scene. There are a few and i mean a few meh things across the season but to me its still absolutely 10/10 some of the best tv i’ve watched in a very long time. Def in my top ten of all time.
One of the things that kind of crack me up is when they are at Carmy's trying to work on the menu and something didn't come out right they act like it's completely inedible. I can't imagine two top level chefs could fuck up good ingredients that badly.
Im no high end chef. i also thought “well it cant be that bad” but i would guess that they are trying to push things and be very creative, i could believe the fuck ups can be really bad in that world. but thats speculation.
she fucked up the vinegar, one of the very few things that can make a dish go from perfect to inedible.
Have some experience with this as a top-level chef myself. Let's just say a little confusion on ingredients and amounts like say... substituting "heads" for "cloves" of garlic - can make a 3* dish turn into an inedible plate of food.
Just finished season 2, definitely the best season of TV I’ve watched this year. I might rewatch the entire thing next week? I think I screamed “let’s fucking goooooo” when I realized Richie was going to step in and expo after Carmy locked himself in the freezer. His arc this season was wonderful.
I’m sorry, but you can’t appreciate a Forks rewatch without attaching Fishes. And the thing is, there’s beauty in Fishes as well, don’t focus on the fighting, focus on the characters in the background hurting from the fighting, they did such a good job portraying how much they care.
have binged the first nine eps this season and saving the finale for tomorrow. - the christmas ep was outrageously good television. i don't know if i have it in me to watch that ep again. - i really like claire and the foreshadowing to carmy's lack of focus and his eventual breakup with her is going to make me sad - the richie ep was great mainly because of the interesting characters in that restaurant - i thought the marcus ep was actually the best individual one of the season. loved everything in copenhagen and poulter was as good as coleman imo as far as delightful cameos.
finale was great though i wasn't thrilled with how some of it played out - the pete / donna conversation was incredible. perhaps the best scene of the entire show imo as it adds more dimension to s2e6. felt love and pity / sadness for both pete and donna there. - richie, marcus, and tina all had incredible growth this season but syd and carmy didn't. i hope they get to have a little more "good" in their life next season. syd needs to get past her anxiety and carmy needs to learn he can have and experience joy. - i will hate if the claire / carmy relationship ends there. i completely disagree with the premise that you need to be singularly focused on work to thrive. carmy and sugar deserve some reprieve from their abuse and trauma. - i would like a little bit more food stuff in season 3. we never really saw the final menu and didn't see many of the dishes. i imagine this is tough to do for a tv show but i would like it. anyways, great season and great show.
I love this show for so many reasons. It constantly makes me feel connected to so many different characters. Robert Townsend is so warm and kind and genuine feeling wrt his adoration twords Syd. So many amazing casting choices. I love you, chef
My one complaint about the show is it’s almost impossible to get locked in a walk-in cooler/freezer like that.
One of the best episodes I've seen on TV, period. Right up there with a couple of episodes of The Crown ...
Think he’s going for “they all look alike” angle. I don’t really see the dead ringer angle at all but I don’t really question your intent either.
Shockingly, there are actually people who look like other people from the same ethnicity. i know, hold the presses, right? They are both young and cute and have a similar look, IMO. His premise was far from outlandish ...
Finally caught up. Handcuffed hit most of my thoughts. Carm and Claire can definitely work out, and I thought the way everything between them played out in this episode was a little cliche. Really hope he doesn’t end up like Lip where he can’t have anything good. Donna / Pete then Pete / Sugar was the best part of the episode. So good. Was a little worried Alex Moffet was going to shank Marcus in the back alley.
After the freezer scene my wife asked can JAW ever play a character that doesn’t self sabotage and I told her wait until you see the wrestling character he’s playing in his next project.
Not dead ringer, but there's definitely some resemblance there. Wouldn't have been shocked if told me they're related.
Just saw Richie in the new Jennifer Lawrence film on Netflix (I'd give it 6/10). I am so ready for season 3 to start ...
