I’m gonna say it: Spoiler if Claire leaves him over that she’s pretty shitty. Man is losing it locked in a freezer on opening night of the biggest venture he’s ever attempted and it’s going off the rails and she’s mad because he was venting to a door not knowing she was on the other side? She deserves an explanation but to just walk is kinda fucked if that’s how it ends up.
Spoiler I mean he basically said everything bad that has happened to him this year was because of her. Thats a pretty fucked up thing to say about a gorgeous woman who saves lives for a career
Can confirm. First trip to Chicago was last thanksgiving after watching S1 of Bear. Made the GF take me to Portillo's for a beef sandwich. did not disappoint
I don't think he meant it that way at all TBH and is why it needed more of a conversation than what happened, if it were IRL not a TV show. It came off to me as more of a vent that he believes he has to be hyper focused on something to succeed at it, and that he lost focus during the opening process by being with her and had failed everyone. First off he didn't fail, but was unaware of that while in the freezer and was just couldn't get out of his head because he was having a panic attack in a refrigerator. That's a situation that a conversation or a few could fix with his relationship. Also just something that he needed to get out of the fridge and see that everything was fine and he didn't effectively ruin the lives of his entire staff by being in a relationship. The comment I think that may have needed some walking back was him saying something along the lines of "all the yada yada good stuff, it's not worth it for this feeling" - essentially saying being with her wasn't worth failing this opening. Again would be fixed mostly by realizing he was having a fuckin panic attack and just needed to calm down and see everything outside was still going fine. But also something that a very basic apology and some work/life balance conversations with Claire could fix. Let her know that her phone call distracted him from the very important task that landed him stuck in the fridge to begin with and set a boundary that you don't call during crazy work days unless its an emergency. Problem solved. Honestly don't fault her for leaving if she does because it's definitely a red flag for him to throw her under the bus in a time of crisis and some people don't like "projects" for relationships. But in the real world a girl like they've shown Claire's character to be would most likely be more than willing to talk it out and work through his work anxiety issues if he pursued it.
So I had one from a local sandwich shop here in Houston finally that does different sandwich of the month type of things. It was really good and I can only imagine how good a real authentic one would be.
Claire ain’t leaving his ass. She tracked him down after he intentionally gave her the wrong number. Now he absolutely will either not pursue/apologize to her and/or further sabotage himself. She loves fixing broken things. It’d be absurd if she was like “nah that’s it you got upset on the biggest night of your life while locked in a refrigerator”. Much more likely Carmen doesn’t even reach out or when he does he fucks it up.
Claire's character was just a device to lead to the finale. I'd be surprised if she's a major character going forward.
Really? They gave her a lot of back story with them teasing him about running into her on Christmas and whatnot. Like that’s the girl he’s always wanted
In addition to all the good points made: the scene where Marcus finds the new guy smoking crack then asks Syd if he can fire him was amazing. Them realizing he was high by how fast he was chopping the carrots killed me.
After 3 failed attempts it pained me to see him cut donuts in that thing. I like how he often shows his fails.
Been watching this recently and good god it’s so damn good. I liked the show a lot. After Forks, I fucking love it. One of the best/my favorite episodes of tv in at least recent memory, maybe ever. I was rooting so hard for Richie by the end and it was making me emotional. Just perfect. Finished up S2 tonight
just finished the S2 and agree completely life is hard for most people we get it but every success doesn't have to be met with two more setbacks 5 mins later. That was one of the things that turned me off on Shameless there doesn't need to be a new calamity waiting around every corner. Great show but allow viewers a moment to actually enjoy the characters success a little longer. Also if Claire really leaves over his rant then that's a complete 180 from what they built her character up to be over the season. She was well aware that Carm was self deprecating and shy. that's why she didn't take offense to him acting like he didn't remember her name or giving her the wrong phone number when they first met again. She waited years for the chance to date him and took the initiative to make it happen this time around knowing that Carm would never make the move to see it through and was always waiting for the "other shoe to drop". If Carm actually tries to apologize and wants to actually pursue that relationship and not just be Carm I can't see how she refuses.
I mean in the end the last ep was mainly positive imo. Carmy fucked up but it was only friends and family and everyone else stepped up to the challenge due to their growth throughout the season. If anything was too much for me it was showing Marcus’s phone at the end but I still enjoyed the ep
Really it was just like the last 10 minutes that was a bit over the top with needing to set up how awful everything is going to be at the start of S3.
It seems to get better every time. And if you have the time and constitution, that Fishes-Forks combo back to back, all the angst and anxiety that builds up during fishes makes that Pequods + Love Story + “That’s my BOY!!!/ Hadouken!!!” serotonin hit that much harder.
Honestly, maybe recency bias but the (are we calling it the Love Story scene? Pequod’s scene?) whatever it’s called is a 1B for me to Lasso’s 1A “Darts scene” as favorite TV moments. To say high praise is quite the understatement.
As good as that scene is I still like the scene at the end even more. With the every second counts revelation. So good.
I firmly believe binging is worse than week to week if it’s a great show but ep 6-7 back to back is an exception. It’s a perfect combination if you didn’t have a nervous breakdown during fishes
OZ2 binged season 1 before me and was insistent for me to catch up. I was able to binge S2 before him, as soon as he sent a message about Fishes (it was pretty late iirc) I told him you have to do Forks immediately. Couldn’t imagine stopping at 6, if this show released weekly I wouldn’t of made it to Forks.
The existence of Claire makes it possible that the show eventually heads down the path of Carmy giving up a little control and letting Syd spread her wings and get "her star" (bc he doesn't give a shit about it). She's capable of doing everything in the day to day. He learns how to have a work-life balance which as far as I can tell he's never had in his life.
did you see her puking her brains out afterwards. she doesn't seem capable of handling pressure. but maybe that's going to be her development hurdle and having personal relationships are Carmines.
By all accounts in the show that was arguably the biggest night of her life. Thing is she DID handle the pressure. She just needed to release the demons afterwards
When Carmen was describing what it was like when he was in NYC he said he was puking every night because of the pressure.
