People his age shouldn’t be able to write songs like this. From what I’ve read, kid has had a fuck ton of “life” at 22. The cover of "How to Save a Life" is also incredible. Kid has so much talent.
Seven hour drive home from stagecoach complete. Top three performances were Leon Bridges, Wyatt Flores and Shane Smith and the Saints. Post Malone was fun. Really liked Sam Barber. CWG and Charley Crockett were fun like always. Words cannot adequately describe how fucking horrible Hardy was. The fact he is famous at all is a black mark on humanity in general.
Interesting album title considering TLJ is such a big polo guy. He was born in New Zealand. I wonder what the story on that is.
I’m seeing Turnpike in Wichita on Friday. Then heading to Tulsa and going to Isbell at Cain’s Ballroom on Sunday. Probably going to check out the Mercury Lounge in Tulsa on Saturday too. So damn excited.
That’s good, but a better Steve Earle quote: “Townes Van Zandt is the best songwriter in the whole world, and I’ll stand on Bob Dylan’s coffee table in my cowboy boots and say that.”
I’ve seen Turnpike 10+ times and that was probably the best they’ve ever been. Evan was happy and talked to the crowd a lot, which is rare. Still weird seeing them in an arena, but it was a kick ass show. Red Clay Strays and Trampled by Turtles also killed it. Cody Canada and RCS/TBT head singers came out and sang Long Hot Summer Day at the end.
I've seen the Red Clay Strays clips of him singing LHSD. Pretty cool Cody got to sing it to. I'm in for this 100%. I need to see Turnpike again soon. Haven't since Red Rocks 2022 then Ryman 2023 and I'm not wiling to do an arena. Give me any theatre show and I'm there. Actually any Ryman show and I'm there.
