Been really heavy on McMurtry lately and I don’t know if there’s any other song that’s more lyrically vivid.
With the band and Betty Soo opening. It was only about an hour and a half which is about half of what I’ve seen him do before.
When people say country doesn’t have good lyrics I always hit them with: “wreckless discharge of a gun That’s what the officers are claiming Bubba hollered out ‘wreckless, hell! I hit just where I was aiming” that’s a legitimately great lyric
I asked Jason Isbell to play Hurricanes and Hand grenades later that night while playing him in a game of pool before the show. I don't remember how he told me exactly, it was very polite and not rude, but it was clear I should never ask for a song I wanted to hear to be played. It seemed to be an unwritten rule I was unaware of at the time.
Missed that Willi Carlisle released an album last week. An absolute banger Fuck yes at the spoken word track at the end
Love it Still not sure on the new band name Mostly for personal reasons, like when I wanna pull up their music on a streaming service I can't pull up both at the same time
I got to see him perform live on the 4th of July at the Greenbrier golf classic about 10 years ago. He put on a hell of a show. RIP
Probably deserves it's own thread. Guy was a legendarily ignorant and obnoxious person. Rest in piss.
If y’all listen to Outlaw Country on Sirius XM, Mojo Nixon died of a cardiac event on the Outlaw Cruise.
Saw him last night and it was great show. Feeling old at work this morning after a Tuesday night concert though.
They are playing in two shows near me and I might be out of town both nights. really hate to miss that. anyways, i am going to take the opportunity to post another one of her songs
If her Decatur show was a week earlier I'd be able to go. I'm loving everything I'm hearing from the new album. These lyrics are great. Now I carry a name from the people they slaughtered So I live in the middle, not son nor daughter Just a horse in a battle I don't care to win My soul's like a well for the anger of man
I would say close to 100 people. It was a Tuesday night so that probably didn’t help attendance. When Abby Hamilton opened we were the only non bartenders in there for the first few songs. I felt bad for her because everyone was on the patio watching the Kentucky basketball game. We saw Tommy Prine last year in the same venue and there was maybe 20 people. Vincent Neil Emerson last year maybe had 150 people there.
Today is the last day we have to exist without Shane Smith and the Saints new album and I think that’s a really beautiful thing that it’s our last day of waiting.
