Is footy better than rugby in an Australian's opinion? I couldn't sleep this morning so I woke up and watched the Rabbitohs and Dolphins match (I know it is rugby). It was entertaining for the 1st half.

I just watched highlights of a match from last night, that looks nothing like american football lol

 

It's kinda like passing style and tackling of rugby mixed with the rebounding and jumping of basketball mixed with the running of soccer mixed with the punting and punt return style catching of American football. Then you remove all of the shirt sleeves and you've got Aussie rules footy.

 

There's one difference between rugby and Aussie Rules. In Aussie Rules you can't throw the ball. If you can't kick it you have to handpass it. That's holding the ball in one hand and punching it away with the other.

This must be some Single A baseball equivalent shit. Their organizations aren't quite that deep because they have about 8% of the population we do in the US but their footy teams do exist even at a very local level. Especially in Victoria where the sport originated.

 

There are all different levels of football from professional down to local club level. Local level is what aussiefooty and Control umpire.
