Santander carrying us this week Looking forward to Reds series, get fucked Goose Westburg called up; Jackson #1 overall prospect now and Cowser 15th
Have been stunned at the starting pitching we have been getting. These guys have been pitching above their heads. Still not clicking offensively
I hope De La Cruz hits another cycle this series and you see the entire thing happen while watching your team lose
Welcome the influx of Reds fans, need someone to talk to Wish there wasn’t a delay, your pitcher was on the ropes while our very shitty 1 was pitching well for once
Hope we come back, ump was on some bullshit with Adley at bat and the Hayes strike with 2 on that was 5 inches inside
Cowser up Grayson seems like he’s getting on track and hopefully back up soon because Cole Irvin sucks This run has sucked but Mullins will give us a boost when he remembers how to hit Assume we just make typical Elias moves at the deadline, about done with Mateo and most our middle relief
Trusting Baumann in a 1-0 game when you have a pretty rested Cano and Bautista Not good tonight Brandon
Anyone got this? Hoping we can get some pitching help and I trust this front office much more than prior version to get a deal done. Have seen us linked to Bieber.
Os part. Big fan of Westburg so far, not sure I'd agree with trading him and middle relief certainly seems like a bigger concern than starting pitching. Starters have been terrific recently and Grayson seems ready to be recalled. Orioles’ Elias: ‘We have the talent in the system’ The Orioles cannot possibly keep all of their young infielders long-term. There are simply not enough positions to go around. The question is whether they can use their depth to acquire the top-of-the-rotation starter and seventh-inning reliever they need. “As things stand today, our deadline work is identifying potentially available players that will increase our odds at a playoff run,” Orioles general manager Mike Elias said. “I think we have the talent in the system that other teams will find it appealing to talk to us. The breadth and depth of the sell side of the trade market is hard for me to read right now, though.” Elias likely fears quality arms will be in short supply, making prices unreasonable. But unlike a year ago, when the Orioles had playoff odds of 2.1 percent at the deadline and traded veterans Trey Mancini and Jorge López, the GM has little choice but to buy. The Orioles’ playoff odds were 62.4 percent entering Friday’s play. Their players and on-field staff surely expect reinforcements. Identifying potential trade chips is not a problem. Manager Brandon Hyde already cannot find enough at-bats for all of his position players, and the infield only figures to get more clogged. Consider Jordan Westburg, who batted .323 with a .901 OPS in his first 36 major-league plate appearances. Westburg lacks a clear position. Could the Orioles sell high on him, knowing they already are loaded in the infield? Either Gunnar Henderson or Jackson Holliday will be the future shortstop, with the other likely manning a different position. Coby Mayo, who has 49 extra-base hits and a 1.054 OPS at Double A, could be the future first or third baseman, with Heston Kjerstad another option at first. Joey Ortiz is a more logical utility man than Westburg because of his ability to play shortstop. Two other minor leaguers, Cesar Prieto and Connor Norby, are long-term options at second as well. All of those players rank among the Orioles’ top 16 prospects, according to MLB.com, except Henderson, who has graduated from the list. Elias’ challenge at the deadline and beyond will be deciding which players to keep and which to trade. He has enough talent in his system to acquire virtually any player who becomes available.
I also like westburg. Would rather DFA Mateo and then trade Ortiz or some of the other guys not called up yet
Big for Cowser getting that sac fly, he needs confidence and to stop taking so many strikes Mullins injury sucks but have managed well so far. Huge play by Ramon saving the game tonight, solid player
Grayson was great and credit to James McCann today That 8th inning had me fuming, how do you put that guy in there.
to play some devils advocate - they had already used Cano and the dude does throw 102... but that was shaky as shit. O's have a good strong track record of developing these guys though! they still need another reliever and to just go get fucking Stroman
I’m starting to believe we can actually win the east. Have been waiting for the starting pitching to just fall off a cliff and aside from Wells these guys have just been nails night in and night out. August and especially September schedules ease up significantly from what we had in July with plenty of opponents that were sellers at the deadline
