can we all agree that waylon is the gold standard of country music? I can listen to him or any highwaymen album just about any time.
Wait wait wait wait wait wait, TLank you think Jamey Johnson sucks as a country artist? MJRuff eat your heart out
Garth Brooks Really wished I could've seen him live in his prime. Alabama is my all-time favorite country group though
alan jackson is just as big a sellout as anybody. I do like Junior Brown even though he was kind of a dick when I met him in Charlotte.
Some more live Bingham Ryan Bingham - The Weary Kind (Live on KEXP) Ryan Bingham - Depression (Live on KEXP) Ryan Bingham Dylan's Hard Rain Live at KVET FM Austin
You do realize Jason Aldean raps in his new song right? Also, I don't get the slurping off of Alan Jackson. The guy sold out too.
Giant Douche vs. Turd Sandwich, in my opinion. We lose either way. Hayes Carll would hate them both: Hayes Carll - "Drunken Poet's Dream"
I'd say they both were great when they first came out. Aldean sold out a while ago and I fear Eric Church is starting to do the same.
Yep and they are cheap: http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0C004672B4B2A15E I need to call ticketmaster though, they said they shipped my ticket a few weeks ago and still haven't received anything.
$20/each I've never been to Billy Bob's (new to the area). What's the venue like? General admission tickets are all they have left. It looks like a big ass bar so it seems like fun
Don Williams gets less love than he deserves. Don Williams - Lord, I hope this day is good Don Williams - It Must Be Love Don Williams - Love Me Tonight Some broken hearts
Damn y'all who can actually go to these Bingham concerts. Such good music. Wish junky star was better though.
Ahh, the Gentle Giant. "Good Ole Boys Like Me" is one of the GOAT songs. One of the first times I was ever intoxicated was at a Don Williams show.
On one hand I don't hate the marketing people because they're capitalizing on a money making venture. On the other hand fuck them for ruining country music. I read an article on Kris Kristofferson and he said "Waylon told me before he died, 'these kids are doing to country music what panty hose did to finger fucking. Ruined it.'
No question that the idea was complete shit, but the way it looked, he just lost his marbles and decided to create some alter-ego to delve into a pop career when there was at least a semi-logical reason for it even though the execution was awful.
The only celebrity death that ever really affected me was Waylon. Damn it he was the man. Nobody minds anybody making money until it comes at the expense of something they love. There is still good music out there, but you have to do a little extra work to find it.
To me Waylon was the GOAT. Fuck Garth. He's a great performer, I've seen him live, I like his music, but he's not real country. The most pure Country-Western artist was Chris LeDoux. Big props to whoever posted it earlier itt
the day i heard this was the day i quit listening to country music Jason Aldean - Big Green Tractor (From "Wide Open Live & More")
I apologize to Eric Church lovers, I got him confused with Luke Bryan Old Aldean is actually pretty damn good though when is that Bingham concert?
a lot of the texas guys mentioned in this thread arent "real" country guys. dont get me wrong, i prefer them to almost any artist but theyre still not real country music.
i have a feeling that your idea of what real country is is incorrect. you know a lot of these guys who you say are not "real country" are guys who write a lot of the music for guys you probably do. bruce robison, for example, has written music for the dixie chicks, faith hill, tim mcgraw, george strait. chris knight has written music for people like blake shelton, confederate railroad, john anderson, randy travis, and montgomery gentry. no, they weren't specifically mentioned ITT, but they are in the same genre as the guys you said who aren't "real country."
The term "real country" is in the eye of the beholder. Who cares what you like. I guess Im referring to traditional country. Well I am wrong if guys like Tim McGraw and Montgomery Gentry arent new country. Again, i like guys like Montgomery Gentry, but I wouldnt use them as an example of "real country."
what about randy travis, john anderson, and confederate railroad? they're about as old school and "traditional" as you can get
