    FWIW, this lineup....

    125: Nate Tomasello
    133: Luke Pletcher
    141: Ke-Shawn Hayes
    149: Joey McKenna
    157: Micah Jordan
    165: Te'shun Campbell
    174: Bo Jordan
    184: Myles Martin
    197: Kollin Moore
    285: Kyle Snyder

...will be the best team to not win a title that I can remember.

That is an absolutely stacked lineup. 5 have champion potential, 2 more have finalist potential, and the other 3 have AA potential.

McKenna transferring to OSU (if he does indeed make the switch) doesn't change anything in regards to a PSU dual.

Zain is still getting his 5 points at 149. Maybe Nolf gets one less at 157. Maybe.

125: NaTo DEC Suriano (obv if Suriano transfers to Rutgers this is a TF/Fall) 3-0 OSU
133: Pletcher DEC Keener (Pletcher won last year) 6-0 OSU
141: Hayes vs Cortez/Lee? (lots of variables here, Hayes coming back from serious injury, don't know who wrestles 141 for PSU. Going Hayes for now, subject to change) 9-0 OSU
149: Retherford TF McKenna (He's still Zain after all) 9-5 OSU
    157: Nolf MD M Jordan 9-9
165: Joseph MD Campbell 13-9 PSU
174: Mark Hall-Bo Jordan III (who wins the rubber match? Many think Bo was robbed in finals. I will take Hall in rematch personally) 16-9 PSU
184: Nickal DEC Martin (They split last year after Myles beat him in finals in 2016. Nickal 4-2 overall. He's the favorite but Myles has shown he can win that match twice now) 19-9 PSU
197: Kollin Moore DEC Cutch/Cassar (don't think it matters who he faces) 19-12 PSU
285: Snyder MD Nevills (Champ, obv) 19-16 PSU

I gave OSU 133 and 141, PSU 174 and 184. I think those are the most competitive weights, regardless of what PSU fans will say about 125.

There are some rumors that Nick is unhappy at PSU and wants to transfer closer to home. Apparently his dad is a real piece of work and is actively involved.

There's been a lot of different rumors as to why he is unhappy at PSU--homesick, unhappy with the way staff treated his injury, his dad wants him to bump up to 133 but Cael says no--but no one really knows what's going on right now. I tend to believe the latter because Nick is huge and I never thought he'd stay at 125 for more than a year or two.

It's been the subject of much debate on the forums, with a handful accusing others of making the story up, but their seems to be some truth to it. Rutgers' biggest insider apparently has lots of connections with their wrestling staff and has said there is an 80% chance Nick transfers to Rutgers.

It's something to keep an eye on as the season approaches. All I know is the kid is a stud and will be successful regardless of his singlet color.

the injury thing is interesting. the family (father) choose to deal with the foot break a certain way (stem cells) i believe, that is junk science. Burroughs might have had the same procedure and may have had to have it redone in the traditional way, but i dont know the specifics of his case.

shrug. i would say losing suriano means we would not be able to beat yall in a tournament setting, because even 133 is just a filler body next year. if nick wants to walk away from the best room he will see outside of an olympic prep environment, so long

This came from a Rutgers fan on the mat.com about two weeks ago FWIW. So I'd take it with a grain of salt.

I also talked to my sports editor connection who follows mid-Atlantic wrestling and he isn't seeing it.

If Suriano is leaving it's for greener pastures, wherever that might be???wtf???

And who the fuck is Kevin Snyder?

    141Lee

Not sure we can gauge anything right now from 125-141 since Suriano is transferring from the best program in the world to Delaware St.

    Wrestling events:

FS World Team (minus J'den) is in Madrid for the Grand Prix of Spain this weekend.

I believe the entire Freestyle portion of the event takes place Saturday at 4:00 PM CST and wrestles straight through to finals until 9:30 PM CST.

The National Team (B-Teamers) will be in Bucharest the following weekend on Friday July 21.

Wrestling starts at 5:00 PM CST and wrestles through semis at 9 PM, then finals are Midnight-2 AM.

Fargo is this weekend as well.

Which do you believe is more likely--Snyder techs Sadulaev or McGregor knocks out Mayweather?

Even if Suriano transfers, which is far from a done deal, the championship race is far from over.

PSU has 5 returning champs and scored 146.5 points at the tourney last year. They only lose Jimmy Gulibon's.

I'd say PSU is a slight favorite but there is certainly less leeway if Suriano transfers out of PSU and McKenna transfers into OSU.

In terms of Ohio State, Dustin Myers' book Strength and Conditioning for wrestling is your best bet. It's very detailed and on the pricey side ($68).

    https://oldschoolgym.com/collection...ing-off-season-edition-e-book-by-dustin-myers

Logan Stieber just published an e-book and a few pages address strength/conditioning/nutrition (which I'm assuming comes directly from Dustin), but that's probably not what you are looking for.

FRL did 20 minutes today on the Suriano/PSU situation.

Not much new there, but they did confirm that Suriano leaving could affect McKenna--If Suriano transfers Cael would likely pursue Joey more aggressively with the additional scholarship money on the table.

Saw that Heinselman was top 15 in P4P on flo but #42 in the class, not sure how that makes any sense.

Are there any big events coming up, don't feel I'm getting my $150 worth or whatever I paid for flo.

P4P is based off of resume, Big Board is based off of potential--Heinselman is on the P4P list because he hasn't lost in Folkstyle in almost 3 full years.

In terms of big events, it is summer right now so there certainly are not as many events as in-season, but Fargo is the biggest HS tournament of the summer and it is this weekend. Lots of juicy FS action. It's a breakout event for a lot of the younger kids.

From what I understand, it was between Ohio State, Lehigh, and Penn State, then just Ohio State and Lehigh, then it was all but done that he was heading to Ohio State.

A couple things have changed in the last few weeks.

    1) the Suriano situation--if Nick transfers, PSU suddenly has more scholarship money with which to pursue McKenna. Not to mention the additional motivation of preventing him from wrestling from your only competition.
    2) the Sasso situation--rumors have Columbus as the only possible destination for Sammy right now. Apparently he has some extracurricular concerns (grades and drugs according to some posters) and Iowa has backed off, which could be as a result of the issues above like them claim, but could also have something to do with the transfer of Pat Lugo to Iowa. Lugo and Sasso are probably both 149s. McKenna's ideal class is 149, but he could make 141 (and would for one season for PSU). Sasso and McKenna seems awfully redundant for OSU so there is likely a situation where they have to choose one or the other. For me McKenna is a no-brainer wrestling and timing wise, but there could be additional concerns that I am not privy to.

In terms of the Suriano situation, all I know is that he is in NJ working with Frankie Edgar and his coaches. Still not back at PSU, no resolution yet.

I mean, he's in Toms River, New Jersey right now. That is a fact. He's working a camp at Elite Wrestling as I type this.

I suppose he could have worked a PSU camp as well but that goes against everything I've heard from the Jersey MMA guys and everything I've seen reported from wrestling guys, which is that he's been home all summer and hasn't been back to PSU.

The 145 Junior bracket is absolutely loaded, possibly the toughest at Fargo, and is headed up by OSU recruit Sammy Sasso. That's a good place to start.

David Carr is wrestling at 160 in a bracket with Joe Lee (Lee won that match at Junior Nationals this year but Carr was gimped). Jake Allar is there too.

Not sure if OSU is recruiting the Ohio kids at 120 Juniors but that's an awesome weight either way. Possibly Logan Agin (I guess he's wrestling Juniors, but he's young). Stacked, stacked weight.

The cadets are young so it's tough to know who OSU is recruiting and who they are not, but Nevan Snodgrass at 160 and Victor Voinovich 132.

Braxton Amos might not be a good fit for the Buckeyes but he could be the #1 recruit in the Soph class, wrestling at 220 cadets.

Are we recruiting Connor Brady? Weight range we're loaded at plus think we're recruiting Julian Ramirez but would suck to lose a kid rated that highly who lives 10 minutes from campus.

Recruiting is extremely hard to pinpoint, especially the younger classes. Not much to go by if you aren't PSU (in which case you just look at the top 15 nationally).

I'd be shocked if they weren't recruiting Brady because I think he projects as a 165, which could be a weight they need to recruit when Campbell graduates. I saw a pic of Ethan Smith recently and he is really chubby. Once that weight comes off he could be a 165--I think he was listed as a 174/184 but I see no chance of him being 184.

The 2018 class is mostly done with Heinselman, Mattox, and Hoffman already in the fold--Sasso and Carr are two guys left on the board, maybe things pick up with Rocky Jordan, he is big like Bo.

I see the big 2019 needs right now as 165/174 type (I think Romero will be taking over for B Jordan then bumping up his soph year after Myles graduates) and a 141.

Colton Yapoujian out of Colorado is a guy I could see filling the latter weight, and David Carr (2018), Connor Brady, or Julian Ramirez would be a good fit for the former. I think Carr will be a 174 though. Dylan D'Emilio is a kid who is a HUGE tOsu fan and if OSU wants him that's where he'll end up I believe. He was considered one of the very top recruits in the class but has fallen off quite a bit since winning Cadet world bronze a couple years back. He needs to put on weight if he wants to be at OSU I'd think. I saw him projected at 141 but he wrestled 113 last year

No clue about 2020 but Braxton Amos is a guy Tom Ryan knows really well. Will be a top recruit.

I considered including him in my post but didn't know if he allowed any points. Even if he did it's an amazing tournament

Unfortunately the toughest competitors ended up not wrestling.

India was denied visas and didn't make the tournament at all--they have legit guys at 57kg and 65kg. This would have been perfect because it would have tested our two rookies Gilman and Retherford.
Frank Chamizo, '15 world gold and Rio Bronze did not compete because of an injury. He was supposed to wrestle James Green which would have been a big one. Chamizo will be a favorite to medal in Paris, especially with Ramonov not competing. Hosseinkhani was considered the #1 overall guy at the weight class probably but he lost at Iranian trials so he might not go to Paris (they could do wrestle-offs at weight classes where the "favorite" didn't win--57, 70, and 125)

    Joey Silva to Michigan.

Top 10 recruit in class of 2018. Projected 141. Big get for the wolfs.

4 PM eastern is the start time for Cadet semis, lots of big names there if you want to check it out.

Ones I am making sure not to miss:

    Shawver-Surtin @113 (Shawver--Elyria Soph)
    Mastrogiovanni-Sokol @120 (Both top 5 2021 kids, intermat has them #2 and #3 I believe)
    Burnett-Serrano @120 (Burnett-Elyria Soph also)
    Saunders-Hixenbaugh @126 (Saunders top 5 2020 kid)
    Manville-Mosconi @132 (Manville #1 overall 2021)
    Davenport-Gallagher @138 (Gallagher--St. Ed's kid top 5 overall 2021)
    Snodgrass-Gondara @152 (Snograss--Kettering Fairmont Soph, top 10 in class)
Amos-Kaminsky @220 (Amos should be #1 overall 2020 after Fargo, he's been dominant and throwing guys over his head like paperweights)
