Didn’t really understand the women’s FS take but also didn’t pay a ton of attention to it bc none of the matches were close Agree with everything else, crowd really only seemed to get loud rooting against Burroughs who is hated for one of the dumbest things ever.
Thought he was talking down on the women’s FS presentation when really just more dumping on GR which I fully support
He didn't get booed (to my recollection) until he bounced Mesenbrink's head off the mat. I get the booing there. But all the heckling and booing after the match because of Twitter talk was gross. When he was introduced before the Nolf match it was mostly cheering, but you could still hear boos.
side note, we might have the best non-olympic team at worlds. 61kg: Vito Arujao ('23 gold) 70kg: ? Maybe Nick Lee, maybe Yianni, pantaleo will definitely throw his hat in the ring, james green too. 79kg: Jordan Burroughs (GOAT), maybe Nolf goes for it. 92kg: Zahid Valencia ('23 bronze).....maybe DT decides to go up?
fyi, i just tried cancelling peacock and i got offer to extend for 3 months at 1.99/month. That should take me through the end of the olympics.
Buckeye message boards which are always reliable saying DT/Nickal have beef, was a bit strange seeing Nickal in Brooks’s corner Seems inevitable he turns Judas on their cult. Just gonna run some JV wrestling academy his whole life, seems unlikely
DT and Bo have been weird since the lead up to the last Olympic trials, and bad blood after. Bo was pissed that DT just sat back and stalled the entirety of both of their matches (iirc). I don't know if they're still weird, but it was not at all strange, and def expected bo was with Brooks.
He’s the dumb bitch on Rogan all the time, the one who started the nonsense beef JB in the first place. Fuck that asshole
When you have so many greats in a fighting sport it becomes a thing but why is a MMA guy causing most of it
rumor out there that tom ryan's car was hit by a semi and he's in surgery right now with multiple fractures.
I don't think so. Source: every time I got to bet Bo to win a fight he is like -2500 to win and it's never worth the juice.
Some other school tampered with him and he knows exactly who he transferring to so no need for other schools to even try. PS - What is the penalty since he was at the usaf academy for four years? That's not a clean break. I think you can leave the first 2 years with no penalty.
It’s so that schools don’t reach out to him, he’ll reach out to them (or more likely already knows where he’s going)
I'm not talking about wrestling eligibility here. You can't just leave a Service Academy after four years and say well I want to go to another college somewhere else now. C-YA Air Force and US Government...I'm out of here. You can leave the Academies your first year (maybe into your second year) without incurring any active duty service commitment and/or reimbursing the government for their educational costs. That's not going to be an option after being there for four years as Hendrickson has been.
At nationals they kept saying he would either do some duty or the world class athlete program. So he certainly would be able to put off doing it a year for another wrestling season.
You can use a year or 2 after the academy to pursue graduate degrees. Source: academy grad who did that exact thing told me about it. You have to be selected for it and take certain grad programs to do it though.
It feels like every time Aden Valencia wrestles Bo Bartlett I pick Valencia to win but Bartlett wins anyway. They're both really, really good.
I am constantly surprised by how good these high school kids are now even though I know they're very good.
Hokies get a U20 winner in Jimmy Mullen. Next season is going to be interesting at hwt and 197 couple of srs there and two talented rFr
Just remembering when the OSU-VT dual broadcast decided the perfect time to cut from the action of Feldman-Catka to a shot of coach robie was with 15 seconds left in a 2-0 match and they completely missed the match winning takedown. What is VT going to do with the Catka/Mullen situation? Catka has 2 years of eligibility left with his covid year i believe. A blue chipper like Mullen sitting for 2 years seems unlikely. I'm surprised he hasn't already transferred to Rutgers.
I have no clue, I totally thought that Catka would be in the portal. Upside with Mullen seems higher though Catka did have is best showing at NCAAs last year. Mullen was on the football team last season on his RS, but I think he’s moved to wrestling full time now. edit: it’s a weird place to be now where it seems like we have multiple high level guys a couple weights. Guess that’s a good problem to have.
Just going to ask this again as it got lost in the olympic trials talk. Hey guys, I had a question. My son is a freshman and just started wrestling this year, he wrestled a few varsity matches but mostly varsity b. His coaches seem to think he can be all-state by the time he's a senior. I say this to ask if anyone near Michigan knows the best camps for intermediate wrestlers. One of his coaches suggested Team Miron camps in Ohio, but his teammate who placed 5th at the state finals said it would be too advanced for him technique wise at this point. We've already got him going to the Michigan and Michigan State camps this summer, looking for potentially one or two more.
I would look into anything Perrysburg for NW Ohio camps. They have the best D1 program. The Jordans used to have a “Jordan trained camp” but that is further south in Urbana.
Can the Hokies land Barraclough? 165 was a weight we were looking for improvement on although Brady came back from the portal.
