wasn’t overly conservative like the classic final, England’s attack just didn’t rise to the occasion. Spain should have had a couple more.
England were dogshit. They looked unfit and technically not up to it. You never felt in the last 30 mins that an England player could get forward and put their head up to pick out a pass, and nor were any of the players there making big runs. In comparison the Spanish team looked fit and dangerous all the time.
honestly between Rubiales and Tebas it’s a minor miracle that the game even exists in Spain. Just Trumpian levels of leadership and management.
I felt awful for players like Mapi and Patri for staying strong and not playing when the end result happened to culminate in a World Cup. I have an immense amount respect for them and the others that refused to break without substantive change.

What’s the story behind their coach and the players hating him? A terrible situation to be in. A coach the players hate, federation loves, and lead you to a World Cup.
I just hope that something positive comes out of this for the sport in general. Spain obviously has a major problem but I don’t think they’re the only ones with a problem like this at club or country level.
